Considering that toddlers are still broken to hell and back, anything involving them interacting with other sims will be broken on release and all of their current issues will continue to be left unresolved.
  • Putting a toddler in a high chair plus any interactions following that don't work as intended
  • Getting an adult to take care of the little shits is nigh on impossible to do consistently which leads to:
  • Having to control everything via the toddler. Bathing, peeing, bed time, eating. All of this must be queued via the child and if they need help, like they do with bathing and eating, you either have to start the interaction with the toddler (bathing, some bed time interactions) or intervene as the God of the world by placing shit near and around the kid so the toddler can do it themselves (eating)
  • Which reduces time with toddlers mostly to making sure they level up their Motor skill if you have stairs in the house so they can freely move around on their own, likely giving them traits like Independent if you don't want to focus everything on their upbringing, and leaving them to their own devices with the toddler tablet until they need to do something they absolutely cannot do on their own (i.e. bathing)
And that's toddlers. If they're introducing a new life state, I expect it to be just as broken with more quirks popping up elsewhere because this is the Sims 4, of course there would be more trouble. If anything, the life state looks like a rehash of toddlers when I thought toddlers themselves where supposed to fix the jump from baby to child. I'm not sure if this is replacing or getting added alongside the existing useless baby state but if it is the latter, why not enhance babies as they are right now? If it's the former, it doesn't look different enough from toddler gameplay to excuse its existence when the young adult / adult and elder life stages all blend together unless you make a concentrated effort to differentiate between them.

A lot of the interactions I see in the trailer are already in the game or exist in some form. Pillow fights, playing tabletop games together (chess, the llama thing, a couple others), bicycle riding (which I guess was either locked to teens and adults and is now also available for children?).

The balloon popping, tooth pulling, treehouse building (which is undoubtedly broken in practice), power walking, and the water sprinkler thing seem to be the only real new additions. Alongside build and buy items that have likely been made thousands of times over within the CC community already and will be rehashed by the Sims team with fewer swatches, uglier designs, and lazier implementation.

Treehouses especially interest me because they're probably going to have predetermined swatches and shells that you can pick from which is horrible with clothes, let alone the Sims build items. I get the idea of getting everyone in the family to build a treehouse together but I feel, from a gameplay perspective, it would be better to have a few specific trees that enable builders to let lose and build on and around them like a platform or something. We'll see.

Fun fact about the accessories: they randomly generate for any damn sim at any damn time. So they're basically accessories that anyone in the world can wear, generated by the game or not, because the team accidentally took their masks off and laid bare the fact that all of this is just a bunch of set dressing for people who want to parade around and act like they're special. Now you get a deaf person earring, and you get a deaf person earring, and you get a deaf person earring! Deafness is hip, kids! It's great!

It's hilarious because they could have actually added more utility to the hospital bullshit they implemented and have people go to appointments about their hearing if they use those forced inventory earphones too much, or as they get older, or if they constantly have stereos playing on high volume. Do the same thing with glasses. Allow their use in CAS but disable some of this shit for randomization and then include actual goddamn gameplay and flavour elements alongside these things. But, again, it's not about deafness or blindness or even simulating reality. It's about jerking off the cunts on Twitter.

And regarding the surgical scars: fuck you.

I'm fucking tired of this bullshit. Burn victims don't wear their wounds as beautiful dainty powerful things. The amputated, particularly those who got into horrific accidents or had to chop something due to some or other health issue, don't walk around poking their stumps thinking wow-wee, this is great! Yes, people can absolutely view themselves and the way they look in a positive light after horrific experiences leave them looking and feeling less human. I get that and the ability to manage to take something bad and view it in a positive light is powerful.

But top surgery scars aren't that. They're trophies for those wealthy enough to waste money mutilating themselves to feel better and more superior and gain benefits that genuinely injured persons do not fucking get because it's clearly far more profitable to chop dicks off and ruin a child's life than it is to tell people to their face that they're narcissistic, clout-chasing gits, or simply dumb as bricks and need to get the fuck out of their office. I'm preaching to the choir but anyone with actual, genuine dysphoria I imagine would fucking HATE those scars because they're be a constant reminder of how not male they are.

And if we can get top scars, why not larger and heavier breasts? Sliders that allow us to create true 600 pound monsters? More male focused CAS items?

Babe, wake up, new Sims drama just dropped.

You can guess how things are on Twitter.
I thought this new "shapewear" actually shaped the sim's body, but it doesn't. What's the point of it? The top surgery scars freak me out, the next time I update my totally legal copy of the game I'll look for a way to remove that shit from CAS. I don't mind the hearing aid thingy, it makes sense on elder sims.

but why though? If you are transgender, wouldn't you want to have your character just be the gender you are transitioning to? I especially don't think Ftms really like to have surgical scars irl and I can't imagine they'd really want that on their characters either.
As a story telling mechanic I can see having Sims go through the real world process if that's part of the story you're telling. It's still more pointless fluff to distract from actually fixing fundamental issues with Sims 4, but it's mostly harmless fluff that adds more options to the game.

In a bit of other TS4 news, it is now available in the Epic Games Store:

In regards to EA putting their titles on EGS, do they actually get Epic Games money from doing so, or is it only to widen the availability of their games?

I'm just wondering if there is some kind of untapped market that's exclusive to EG that would make EA come to such a decision. Are there really people out there who only use EG as their platform of choice - and not Steam or even Origin?
They probably are just doing it to widen the availability, but I'm not sure if that will really do anything for the game

I'd maybe understand that if there were actually mechanics in the game to have a Sim transition but there isn't, it's all done in CAS, so the best you can do is just cas.fulleditmode your Sim into being trans

EA and Epic together is like having two evil roommates moving together.

I'm talking completely out of ignorance but since Epic Games is owned by a chinese company, maybe EA is trying to attract more chinese players? Assuming Epic Games has a wide chink userbase. The game already caters to asians a lot with the clothes and the food and an entire expansion pack inspired in Japan.

The Sims Team had their Growing Together livestream earlier today:

It also looks like the baby engineering feature from The Sims 3's Into The Future EP makes a return as a Base Game feature, and will also allow you to engineer the baby as a single parent.

In the stream the new features look great and the new CAS and build mode objects are gorgeous, but let's see how much of that is true when you actually play the game.

And not surprisingly, the expansion and the game is still buggy:

And who's idea was it to allow adult sims to become Flirty, in a house full of infants?!

And here's the residents in the new neighborhood in Growing Together, which features the obligatory they/them... this:

And apparently this is a male Sim, even though this screams as being otherwise:

Also, being able to lactate was an added option to the sexual customization features:

I don't get it, it's redundant. If a female sim can get pregnant, she can produce milk by default. What's the point of adding that option? A mother sim that can't breastfeed? So many unnecessary game mechanics.

Probably following the same logic as FtM trannies thinking that part of being male is lactating and giving birth

You can now create a fat bastard with big fat tits, lactating big fat milk from all the Impossible Whoppers in his tits.
