I bought this last night using the Mexican EA Store (thanks @Null for posting the how to video) it is $80 IIRC in the Australian Origin store (about $75USD) ickkk

It's pretty and it runs really well on my 5 year old MBP. I like it so far, I don't like the sound of the huge number of expansion packs and DLC. I think there is a lot of potential for house building, but some parts of the gameplay make me think 'iPad'

I'll probably torrent it at some point, mostly for the house building. I've derived so much more fun building add-ons and decorating the house in the Sims game I have than actually doing stuff with my Sims. They're just worker bees to keep the construction budget going.

Wasn't too happy with the character customization. Making comic-era Chris is impossible, as there are no striped polos, no coke-bottle glasses, no necklaces except for a dogtag, and no stringy haircut. I gave it my best effort though. As Null mentioned, maybe when they release the inevitable addons there will be enough options to make a better looking Chris. On the plus side I was able to get some accurate trait choices for him. Grabbed 'childish', 'geek', and 'lazy'.

The Jace one I made came out a lot better. As they actually had a wolf tee for him and a tan fedora.

Will come back with some gameplay review if I find anything notable that hasn't already been covered. Hopes are not too high after previous reviews.

THIS JUST IN FUCKERS.

Playing game and I realized why none of the 8 women I was sleeping with were getting jelly when I was making out infront of them with each other. Woohoo'd with three of them before I had work.

Sims 4 had jealously removed.
There is no jealous emotion / break-up / damaging friendships if you are sleeping around.

During playing I was the boyfriend to four sims. None of them raised any issues with me making out or fucking any of their friends.

Note: I initiated the making out.

Note 2: Conflicting reports. Will test some more.

Except I found a paintbrush glitch. It was hilarious.

Oh and Sims 4 was made for consoles.
How do I Know this?

Although the sims 3 map is larger. It acts the same way as it does int he sims 4. You can see neighbor's houses and click to "travel" to them which gives you a loading screen for walking 3 feet.

Just something I noticed. Kinda pisses me off.[/SPOILER]

There must be some kind of jealousy interaction type deal. I have a baby making sim who I'm trying to get knocked up by everyone in town at least once. One of her suitors was standing on the porch while she was making out with his brother and he got the sad emotion/negative hearts and walked away dejectedly. He stopped autonomously visiting after that.

So.. : / Why did they make Sims 4 an inferior Sims 3 as an "upgrade"? I understand that Sims 3 has a kajillion expansion packs going for it, but with how you guys are describing Sims 4, it sounds really sparce.

Thanks for the honest feedback guys, I won't be buying this one for a while. I'll just keep Sims 3 around if I get the urge to play house.

Yeah, I have to agree with a lot of people here. I'm gonna hold off on Sims 4. Perhaps later down the road, they'll have some crazy special where DLC and expansion packs are incredibly cheap like with Sims 3. As much as I dislike EA, I personally don't like pirating games, so I might buy Sims 4 in the future if the price on it and the inevitable DLC goes down.

Is there a way to transfer saves to other people on the internet, to make a bloodlines style game akin to what the Dwarf Fortress community does (best example, Boatmurdered), or are the saves in Sims 4 cloud based/account locked?

I have my reasons for asking. :ween:

Started playing it recently and ngl it's pretty good now that couple DLCs are out. They fixed everything that annoyed me about The Sims 3 (like how much juice it required and how good the neighbourhood looked zoomed out unless you are willing to put max settings but then again I played it on potato before and I play sims 4 on laptop). Everything looks saccharine but simpler and prettier.
The building mode got improved tremendously which is originally all I took it for.

I'm giving the game a second chance and I'm enjoying it more now that there's more stuff to do. I just wish the game would give you the room to play buttloads of households, instead of the mentality that players only mess with one or two families (this was like that since part 3).
