I hope they do re-release the originals, but only if they're updated to run on modern machines, TS3 is far and away the best of the franchise, but it's 32-bit which means create-a-style starts running into the memory limit very quickly, which breaks the game. Simmers have called for a 64-bit version for years. I know lots of fans of TS2 feel the same way about their game, although I don't know how well or not it runs with windows 11.

It takes some finagling, but TS2 can run pretty great on modern hardware if you get your settings right and aren’t afraid to poke around in your game files. It’s insane how much more I know the ins and outs of TS2 than any other game due to this.

I wouldn't mind a rerelease of 2 since it's my favorite but to be honest it's super easy to pirate the complete collection. Not sure what they'd do for a remaster.
I am excited by leaks alleging more Mysims content though. Hope those turn out to be true!

Fixed :smug:
And looks like the 1 and 2 re-releases rumors were real?
I hope they did more than just putting Ladypooner Lazyduchess' fixes and calling it a day though. But being honest, I'm more curious about 1's re-release, because it'a almost impossible to play it in modern PCs.
1 really is awesome, you're not wrong. The internet archive has a ton of CC archived. I used to hang out on CTO Sims when it was up, they had a huge collection of TS1 CC.

Paysites Must Be Destroyed's booty has a bunch of old for pay TS2 content. Not a lot for 3 because the site owner hated it.

This site launched today. It's gimmicky, but fun for a couple of minutes.

I hope EA doesn't end up making us pay 50$ for it and give us 20$ like they did with Sims 3. JFC but FINALLY I can do it.

Take this gossip with a grain of salt.

I used to be very active on a well known modding site back in the Sims 2 days. I am loosely acquainted with most of the old school modders and still in touch with people who talk to them regularly.

My friend knows someone who knows anadius. I've seen comments on here that suggested anadius is a tranny. According to my friend, through the grapevine, anadius uses "he" as his pronouns. For what little it's worth.

I bought the Sims 1 on steam so I can play it on my SteamDeck (it runs brilliantly with a keyboard and mouse, FYI). I found my old CC backups for 1 & 2, which include a large number of items not available on the internet archive. I need to figure out the best way to share them with the community. I'm not taking pictures of everything, so I guess mega? Anyone have any other recommendations?

So it wasn't a hoax? I'm still skeptical if they're even going to fix the issues with 1 and 2.
If they're are not gonna be lazy and actually made improvements to the game, then I'm gonna wait for the pirated version instead of giving that shit company money.
Double posting because I'm a phone faggot who can't quote in edits. Sorry jannies.

Anadius has uploaded both legacy versions to his site. Very simple to download and use. TS2 gave me fits with windows defender, because it thinks the Crack is a rootkit. But it's not terribly hard to get around that and it's much easier to get running than any of the other pirated versions.

Google pleasant sims mods to get a huge list of mods for sims 2. Not a lot still available for 1, but the internet archive has some. Look for cto sims there, terribly organized zip files, but more content than you can ever use.

Late reply but I already installed the sims 1 & sims 2 starter packs last year and have 4+ gb mods and CC on the sims 2 already. 🤭
I think these "starter packs" are the most normie friendly pirated version.

if EA had actually fixed the issues I might try a pirated version of ts2 legacy, but considering the reports, conflicting opinions, no IKEA or bodyshop on the legacy version I'm gonna be sticking with what I have.

Also putting the graphics rules file from legacy to my UC version actually improved my gameplay for a bit. Less lag and over all smoother performance(?). Although the newest ts2 "avoid pink flashing and crashing" meta is to just to play it on Linux.

The Anadius version has Ikea, he copied it over from the ultimate collection. Not saying you should switch, of course. With EA games if it's not broken don't touch it.

EA has also released a statement that they're going to release a patch to fix the legacy issues. :optimistic: :optimistic: :optimistic: :optimistic: But at least it's something, I guess.

So wait, EA released the (not so) complete collection of The Sims 2. It's not a remake, and they didn't fix the bugs and issues the original game has, but they're charging $30 for it?

They did fix quite a few bugs and issues, but the 1st rule of software development is every time you fix one bug you introduce at least two more.

But this is also just SOP for EA and this franchise. There's a reason the community has developed so many mods to fix annoyances and bad coding decisions.

I'm just glad EA has said they'll do at least minimal support for these games, it might be a money grab but they could just do what they did with Sims 3 and go lol whatever, we'll charge you full price for a completely unsupported game.

They’ve done the re-release… for 40 FUCKING BUCKS???

Idk I heard they’ve fixed a lot and it’s easy to run but 40 bucks is a bit much for a two decade old game…

The re-releases are actually very glitchy messes, with bugs that weren't in the original releases, some of them being game-breaking such as Sims disappearing. It's definitely not worth the $40 at all in their current state.
