While I'm glad that younger generations will get introduced to the original games now, 40 bucks for glitchy re-releases seems like a typical EA cash grab. Is it a pain in the ass to get Sims 1 and 2 running on modern computers? Yes, especially Sims 2. But I've got both 1 and 2 running smoothly on the same desktop with Windows 10 for 8 years now. It takes time to get everything set up properly, but once that's done it's smooth sailing from there. Plus you get every expansion and stuff pack with Sims 2 that way. As I understand it the re-release doesn't include everything?

This is making me nostalgic lol. Gotta play Sims 1 tonight and get frustrated over how hard it is to make friends (and money!) while humming along to the fantastic soundtrack

I can't tell if the troon flag is because he is one, or because he's in support of them. The Palestine flag being there makes me suspect that he could be just trolling, but you never know. Also, I don't remember those flags being there previously, so maybe they were recent additions.

since EA re-released broken versions of sims 1 and 2 they have DMCA'd the community-made installers for the sims 2, getting them taken down from github. EA didn't fix shit and released broken games once again, the community versions wok better and are very easy to install even for the average technologically illiterate sims 4 player so they had to get rid of them so people will only have their trash re-releases to choose from because they are scared of piracy. They somehow created more issues when "fixing" the game, and also took the code from a modders fix rather than fixing a bug themselves, makes me wonder how many jeets work at EA if they couldn't figure out a fix themselves.

I'm still holding out a candle for EA making their 64 bit adaptation of the Sims 3 available for PC rather than just Mac.

As a coincidence, I downloaded an entire Sims 1 set a few months ago and it run entirely fine on my modern laptop. I've had Sims 2 on here and it run fine as well, I don't remember issues. I hope future torrents aren't polluted with "modernised" old games, they've cashed in because Sims 2 is the most fun game and YouTubers have kept doing let's plays of it for years.

Al-Simla. Wrong sort of African, since it was supposed to be Egypt, but Arabs actually really appreciated that it was properly accurate, albeit a Sims 3 holiday destination rather than a main neighbourhood.

The issue the Sims franchise has is that its inherently designed around an American suburban neighbourhood. I remember downloading specific British content for Sims 2 because the windows were wrong. It's like Sim City and its iterations, which basically could only make American cities. Making an African neighbourhood is always going to run into trouble. You could maybe do downtown Nairobi or downtown Johannesburg, but it's not going to "feel" African. They've done quite well with Asian places that are inspired by Japan or Thailand because you just modify the roof structures.

Also ever since the first Sims, they've always had racial diversity in their neighbourhoods. They've never made somewhere that's all white, just like they're not going to make somewhere that's all black. Sims are dolls you play with. If you don't like it, you can use cheats, mods or some sort of career or aspiration award to make your vision of your neighbourhood a reality. I mean for God's sake they had an entire neighbourhood based on Shakespeare plays.

That's why I stopped playing the games entirely when the pooner patch with binders and scars hit. Which is a shame, because TS4 was great for house building (not world building or landscaping,, obviously) and I miss it. I'm not ever gonna give them a single of my TERF Eurodollars again, though. They ruined The Sims, they ruined Sim City, they ruined Dragon Age...

I'm definitely not going to support a game for children that promotes mastectomy scars,.gender ideology or normalises trannies. They're literally indoctrinating children. Evil fuckers.

Anyway, TS3 is the best Sims engine-wise, and I do hope we get a 64 bit version at some point, which I will then happily pirate .

Oddly enough, SimCity 2013 being a massive flop and killing off the franchise and the original Maxis studio may have been a mercy killing in the end, as EA would have openly used SimCity to peddle out rainbow propaganda in the same way too. SC2013 did have a partnership with Nissan to advertise the Nissan Leaf in-game, so the amount of EV peddling, in addition to the rainbow propaganda and more "pro-public transportation" pushes that would please the r/FuckCars subreddit, would have shot up if EA were to still milk SimCity to this day.

And given that EA managed to add even more bugs to the TS1 and TS2 re-releases by messing with their source code, don't count on EA making a 64-bit version of TS3 anytime soon, and even if EA manages to shit one out, expect more things to be broken with it.

There's mods to remove the pride flag, OR I know how to hide anything from showing up in the catalog so you can just ask me to remove something specific and I'll set up a mod to hide it.

Can't do anything about the retarded pronoun shit, but the defaults are normal. You have to make those changes yourself, which is easy enough to just not do.
