As a black creators we have to work twice as hard to get half as far. Even me as a black custom content creator, I don’t get as much recognition as my peers and to be honest, the black and p.o.c creators are some of the best in this community. This isn’t saying that our white peers aren’t great, but all I am saying is that you can see that there is a clear divide.

I agree, race is the problem here. Not this person's - nobody gives a shit - but this incessant need to make everything about race, to portray making mods for a dumb video game as some kind of radical act. No, sweetie, you don't get recognition because your mods are low-quality, low-effort trash and everyone can see that.

What is even the supposed problem with darker skintones? They've always looked fine to me.

Blacks become "ashy" (white or grey tinted) when they don't moisturize or don't use a rough soap/loofah/pumice to clean themselves due to an excess of oil and dead skin. It's the reason blacks of both sexes moisturize all the time whereas usually only women put that much effort into skin care.

But the sims textures for dark skin don't look ashy at all, she's just a weirdo.

There is a "bug" with the darker skin colors where the skin is full of artifacting due to the way the textures are compressed. Don't know if they ever fixed it.

This is what EA deserves for removing the color wheel. I hope players bitch at them about Sim skin color for eternity.

Best part is then I've seen people who did make stories about black Sims get shouted down for making the characters stereotypical.

I never had a problem with the dark skin tones, they are actually better than the light ones as they come in cool, neutral, and warm tones. The light skin tones are just neutral pale to tan, no cool or warm tones. They actually patched in more dark skin tones, but it’s never enough for the perpetually offended.

I went out of my way to make my character commit a silent murder noone saw but then all that happened was that they just stood there unable to move and got arrested.

Then I tried to pull sim shooting, my sim stopped after 1 victim and just stood still.

Worst mod ever.

Man the Sims 3 was great and had such organic interactions. I had a sim go hang out with her brother in law, the hang out quickly turned into date which pissed off her husband to the point he wanted nothing to do with her. They had an unhappy marriage til the day they died.

The cops were also relentless. Oh, this teenager is getting home late from their job? Arrest them.

I find it silly that people are so obsessed with skin tone and hair texture in a game where such things are exclusively cosmetic and have no bearing on what your character can and can’t do. For me that’s the beauty of the game - if some game mechanic where your Sims are treated differently according to skin colour or gender was added it’d make the game unplayable for me. But a lot of black Simmers are obsessed with making ghetto looking Sims with humongous bubble butts and ugly designer outfits and make them act like total sluts, it’s ridiculous.

There's a tardfight going on at this very moment between TS2 creators HugeLunatic and Joy Anne O'Connor (formerly Jacob A. O'Connor... a troon, perhaps? I"ll refer to them with male pronouns from now on) on Tumblr because of...a set of couches, including the classic move where one of the tards pretends to be someone else to guilt-trip the other:

("Milkshake" = Milkshape 3D; "simple" = SimPE, both programs used to make custom content for TS2. Obviously Joy's pretending to be someone who isn't a modder and doesn't know the exact names)

What this is about? Well, HugeLunatic is one of the most prolific custom content creator in The Sims 2 community (and a woman in her 50s or 60s, a granny already), and one of the few old-school modders still active in the community.

Joy is a relatively new creator, and recently released a pack of objects to match Maxis couches, containing some of HugeLunatic's edits of a Maxis sofa (among other creators' objects, some edited and some not), assuming HugeLunatic's file share friendly policy would allow that.

HugeLunatic took issue with Joy sharing her work without modifying it (she seems to have deleted her post), and when Joy chimped out and refused to remove HL's couch from his set, she submitted copyright claims on Joy's preview pics of the couch set.

Joy has been going on an autistic crusade for days already against HugeLunatic and anyone else who disagrees or even dares to ask Joy to calm down, not accepting any less than HugeLunatic leaving the community completely:



Remember: all of that because of a couch that doesn't even exist in real life.

It's a shame the posts were deleted and I didn't screencap it, but back in the day when he was still "Jacob", Joy used to suicide-bait on Tumblr. I think we can expect Joy's "friend" (who oddly has access to his tumblr dashboard) to post that Joy killed himself over the couch drama.

There's no evidence on the bodies to show signs of anything other than a natural death for the cats.

To be fair, he has at least one cat that seems to be well taken care of and IIRC the kittens were abandoned without their mother seemingly shortly after they were born, and he was taking care of them. In the situation they were abandoned, it's not surprising they'd die even if they were rescued. I don't hold that against him, it happens and I do think he had good intentions in this case.

What's disturbing is his need to post a handful of photos of the dead kittens in a blog he created just to spite someone else and in the same reblog chain where he was arguing with other people. Also, the fact it's a grown-up man (not a child, not a teen, but someone already in his twenties) doing it over a bunch of virtual couches.
