The Sims Modding Community - "[Sims 4] Incest, Teen Romance, Babies For Everyone and more! UPDATED FOR 1.5.149.1020!"

What's the point? Transgender/Non-binary sims are already a thing.
You can customise a Sim’s gender, but the game will still refer to the Sim by the pronouns that correspond to the body frame you choose. Still think it was a dumb decision to even have the gender customisation in the first place as it was clearly added to appease the tranny portion of the fanbase, but at the same time it’s fun to make a butt ugly troon Sim who doesn’t pass and have him terrorise the neighbourhood.

Not to mention that, IIRC, they added gender customization before they re-added Toddlers to the game, and I'm pretty sure that more of the community wanted the latter back.

Oh, good fucking lord, as if The Sims 4 wasn't enough of a blatant cash grab already, they now have to license a popular franchise just to bait people into playing it? Talk about fucking desperate. :story:

The simple answer is that it's likely a performance issue. You're going to be seeing hands a lot more than you are feet, so it's better to have the hands animated while the feet can be one solid immobile mass that conserves polygons. No sense animating something that's only visible 5% of your Sims' lifetime.

It did create one of the biggest milk harvest in ages though. The sheer melodrama of people circle jerking one another over a new Vacation world as the end of the world

BLM clothing or something derivative. Bookmark this post.
Wouldn’t be surprised if in response to the recent bitching about there not being enough ethnic hair and skin tones, EA decided to release a whole pack completely devoted to “sims of colour” and somehow managed to program it so certain items can’t be worn if your sim’s skin is too light. Complete with the ability to have your sims perform a drive by shooting and refuse to pay child support.

The current owner of Simsecret, Prah, is stepping down and looking for someone else to take over. I don’t even see the point of the Simsecret anymore, they can barely scrounge up more than five submissions a week and even then it is the same shit. All the drama involves literal whos.

A few days ago, The Sims team put out this letter, pretty much stating that the next Expansion Pack will already be disappointing as the big features that the community is asking for (cars, babies, farms and bunk beds) will not be in it. It makes you wonder what will be in it instead.
i personally doubt that the developers are ever going to put in the things the community really wants like babies and cars. they can barely code enough to make new clothes for their target audience's current fashion trends.

i have this feeling that the sims 4 is on its last legs with dlc and potentionally they might not even make a sims 5. ea has been stringing these community requests and "sims 4 has more content coming soon we're not done yet" along for what feels like forever.

In regards to the first point (More skin tones + opacity/shade sliders) simmers and players have wanted that for years. I would say that it's up there with cars and babies. It's crazy seeing people pat EA's back for doing the bare minimum 6 years too late. They recently (like a day or 2 ago) put out a patch to fix the current skin tones blotchiness and apparently the patch did fuckall. I'm one of the mant that wanted more skintones but I have fuckall hope for EA.

There's also a pretty good chance that the new skintones will mess up CC like makeup, tattoos, hair ect, which the community is dependent on. 2 months of waiting to see if this breaks CAS or not.

turns out prah actually managed to hand off simsecret's corpse off to someone else named ria. i have absolutely no fucking idea who they are but it sounds like they only plan on making minor alterations and otherwise they're running things as usual, it seems

i'm actually kinda glad simsecret is lingering aronund for the foreseeable feature - i haven't played any of the games regularly in ages but i still get a kick out of checking the site every month and watching the comments section turn into an utter shitshow. plus i enjoy reading ancient livejournal blogs and simsecret is so damn old i'd be bummed to see it go... although at this point, if i was ria, i'd just dump unscreened secrets posts every week and leave everything else unmoderated. i think a healthy dose of raw fucking anarchy could give simsecret the life support it desperately needs

The next TS4 Expansion Pack will be Snowy Escape, aka 1/3 of vacation Expansions such as Vacation in TS1, Bon Voyage in TS2, and World Adventures in TS3. So I guess this is what they meant when they said that things such as bunk beds, ownable cars, better babies, etc, would not be in the next EP...

And there appears to be an East Asian aesthetic in the previews, although I do wonder if there will be little to no Korean representation in the EP, given the case in City Living.

This is weird to me, too, considering S4 included Diwali themed stuff in the past and no one made a peep.
The Japanese culture they're including in this really isn't all that different from S2's Takemizu Village, is it?

it's been 6 years.

According to a lot of those comments, the introduction of going to shrines is too religious and offensive. Was having kwanzaa and hannukah not religious?

Some comments did mention about how during Imperial Japan's occupation of Korea in the early 90s, that bowing on shrines was something that the Japanese forced on the Koreans, in addition to things such as Koreans being forced to act as comfort women. There was also a kimono design in the trailer that appears to have a design that resembles the Rising Sun symbol that references Imperial Japan at the time. On one hand, the East Asian nations do have very touchy history with each other, i.e. China being on the receiving end of the Rape of Nanjing, in which Imperial Japan was also responsible for. On the other hand, it does get nitpicky about what is considered to be offensive and what is not, see as another example, when Forza decided to ban the use of the Confederate flag and the Rising Sun symbol on car liveries, and Wizards of the Coast flat out banning cards that depict sensitive content, i.e. the card Crusade.

Also, some people wanted Korea to be set place for this because the 2018 Winter Olympics was held in Pyeongchang, South Korea, and it was odd to make a Winter themed EP when Japan was to host the 2020 Summer Olympics, before Corona-chan became a thing. Not to mention that despite how EA touted the "diversity" in City Living, there was pretty very almost no Korean representation in it, even though EA did include Korean-related things in the past Sims games. The hanbok as formalwear and several wall decorations in the TS2 base game come to mind, and one family in one of the TS3 DLC Worlds is pretty much a Korean industrial band.

to put things into perspective - playing sims 4 right now would be like playing sims 2 in 2010 or sims 3 in 2015. both games were considered "done" by that point in time and they still have more content than sims 4 ever will..

Not to mention the modding and CC communities for the older Sims games are still pretty active.
