The Skeptic Community - Pseudo-intellectuals ranting on Youtube

In hindsight he was kind of lucky to have Jim slap some sense into him, it's probably what made him realize he needs to grow as a person and not just smuckle at everyone.
I think getting embarrassed in that election and self destroying every proving Jim right was what finally got him to grow a lot.
It became evident over time as well, when any of them were challenged by someone slightly intelligent they fell apart, such as Sargon getting outwitted by Richard Spencer of all people.
Getting outwitted by Richard Spencer, time has made that into next levels of embarrassing shit.

"Sargon, you're not as intelligent as you think you are" or something like that.
As for the Candid people, considering the CEO had a melty and started calling Dangerous Opinions god as seen in that I Hypocrite video, I doubt they did much after that.
That Indian woman seemed crazy. Harmful Opinions could've started a Hindu cult after that Temple of Doom style.

"Sargon, you're not as intelligent as you think you are" or something like that.
It was that and Sargon going "Well have you ever even read Locke?" and Spencer replying "Yes, have you?" and then Sargon shit himself.

It was a pretty rough time for the Don of Applebee's but he did end up recovering and growing from it, so props to him in getting slapped with enough fish to actually realize that he couldn't just tread water the rest of his life. It's probably the only reason he still has a career on the Internet instead of doing Uber Eats like Jarbo or planning his suicide like Armored Skeptic.

Plus Sargon has a loyal fan base due to his more palatable content of mostly discussing the news. He grew as a person just like his fan base and become smarter and more mature. A couple of his fans even became his podcast co-hosts.

I remember some of the people talked about in this thread, as I used to watch their videos against creationism. Those still hold up fairly well, but unfortunately dunking on people known for their bestial stupidity makes you more intelligent than them, but not intelligent objectively.

Eh, constantly involving yourself in slapfights with them while advertising yourself as better than them ends up making you lower in the end. I can at least not fault die hard creationists for simply not knowing any better, they were raised on it and they continue to espouse it. The skeptics had their chances to realize they were putting themselves in a retarded egoboosting loop yet continued to do so. The people still actually arguing with random flat earthers are pathetic.

Their entire persona is built around appearing as smart by "debating" people even stupider than them, of course they squeeze creationists and flat earthers as much as they can. They like the egoboosting, they just don't realize it's all phony.

Funny how skepticism is only about punching down these days.

Almost as if skepticism is governed by the ruling class, or something.

I don't think it's some sort of conspiracy, people who overestimate their intelligence or importance generally always punch down because it's much easier than punching up. Social media just gave them a platform to organize, plus an audience to fatten their egos.

lol Cosmic Skeptic landed Peter Hitchens for an interview only to badger him about drug decriminalization so relentlessly Hitch got fed up, scolded him for 20 minutes and stormed out. Extremely based imo

Hadn't thought about Cosmic Skeptic in over half a decade, but it seems that he's recanted on veganism so I can respect that much at least.

At least, creationists can have the argument of ignorance; they know very little even about their own faith or its history, and half the stuff they believe would get them laughed at by the very same people who wrote the Bible down in the first place. The skeptics claim to be smart, but when it comes to debating educated leftists or religious people, they wither away, not wanting to fight against someone who has teeth.

Hence why in the end, their internet shitposting has been reserved for picking on the scabs of the Internet culture, because at the very least, they can preach to the choir and get the average man to agree that creationists and extreme feminists are dumb, which most folks already believe anyways. In many corners of the internet and the world, the word ''feminism'' is considered toxic, and most educated religious folks look at creationist evangelicals the same way you'd look at lepers.

I remember some of the people talked about in this thread, as I used to watch their videos against creationism. Those still hold up fairly well, but unfortunately dunking on people known for their bestial stupidity makes you more intelligent than them, but not intelligent objectively.
That's the thing about the Skeptics. Their targets were usually low-hanging fruit. Not the well-educated religious guys coming out of seminaries, but the self-taught religious Evangelicals who believed in things like creationism which was rejected by 90% of the mainstream Christian denominations like Catholicism, Orthodoxy, Presbyterianism, Methodism, Anglicanism/Episcopalianism, Lutheranism, and so on. People who actually know theology can easily hand the Skeptics their asses on a plate, so the Skeptics avoided them and focused their assault on dumb religious hicks who know little about the Scriptures or the traditions and history of the Christian Church.

Then the Skeptics picked on the third-wave feminists, who again, were not known for being the sharpest tools in the shed among the Left; even most leftists who paid these feminists lip service didn't believe in what they preached. The Skeptics picked on intellectually weak targets whose ideals and beliefs were rejected by 95% of the average common man, so that they could get those dopamine hits by calling out complete idiots and getting applause from the average person.

But when it came to actually choose a side, the Skeptics floundered. They couldn't make a side of their own, as they had no real values of their own, outside of a nebulous version of libertarianism that rejected both the religious right and the feminists. Their pretense towards science is overshadowed by the fact that, unlike Richard Dawkins, Steven Hawking, and the old atheist vanguard, they were not scientists. Their pretense towards progressive ideals got crushed when they went to war with Third-Wave Feminism. Some of them tried to become conservatives, but they had to shed their anti-religious ideals and break bread with the same evangelical Christian right that they used to demonize. Some of them tried to become Breadtubers, but the SJW Left never truly accepted them since they used to be anti-feminist chuds.

And now, they're stuck in limbo, as religion has proven to be more enduring than the Skeptics realized, and both the Right and the Left are consolidating their own religious alliances; with progressive Christians joining the SJWs while trad Christians join the Right. Both political sides have realized the enduring power of Faith and wish to harness it for their own ends. I mean, just look at Catholicism; progressives, even the non-religious ones, hold progressive Catholics like Pope Francis in high regard, meanwhile, the traditionalist Catholics who are slap-fighting with their current Pope are seen as heroes by the modern right, even by the non-Catholics among them who see them as a pillar of virtue against progressive influence.

So basically, the skeptics' brand of atheism became a relic of the late 2000s, as more and more religious people enter the West from the Third World; Latin Catholics who pray to Our Lady of Guadalupe, Muslims who make daily prayers to Mecca, Buddhists and Hindus who make pagodas in their new American homes. And these guys are the ones having lots of kids, while the Skeptics aren't necessarily reproducing their numbers. At this point, the religious people the Skeptics used to bitch at see them as a sad remnant of a lost age, instead of an enemy to be crushed. Meanwhile, the feminists are still going full tilt with the aid of the Leftist elite such as Blackrock that throw free money at producers who make SJW-friendly feminist media, and any attempt by the Skeptics to dislodge them from their perch of influence ended in a dismal failure; even Gamergate at the end failed to keep SJWs away from game studios and gaming news websites, and other efforts such as Comicsgate ended in dismal failure as well.

The coming war between tradition and progressive ideals in American culture and the West at large will have no place for the Skeptics; both sides see them as outcasts and as heretics to the cause. At best, they would just be ignored and laughed at, and at worst, both sides will paint them as the enemy and harry them out of the public limelight before going back to beating each other up. I suppose this is what happens when you pick a fight with God; eventually, He does strike back, and when He does, there is no escape.

As someone who was a part of the skeptic community it is weird seeing it summarised as the proto-red pill anti-feminist guys on here.

Those guys were in the skeptic community but pretty much got chased out as the whole movement got pozzed and was take over by third wave feminists.

The conflict erupted over when elevatorgate kicked off and Tumblr feminists started bringing in their feelings trumping objective reality. This jarred with the many autists of the movement which was destroyed by a long slow civil war.

Pretty much most of the “skeptic” YouTubers I see mentioned here were grifters who had absolutely zero respect or standing in the movement and just wanted YouTube advert revenue on some that was culturally quite large at the time.

Whilst the skeptic movement, like god, is dead and we killed him, he crowd you lot are mostly mentioning here would be MGTOW weirdos now and wouldn’t mention atheism at all incase it risked super chats from edgelords LARPing as Christians.
Kinda like the Dear Leader when he complains about Reddit atheists and refuses to talk about religion.

What’s left of the skeptic movement is a left wing hugbox full of gender specials and it really saddens me.

TL;DR we had a nice thing until women brought troons in and destroyed it

EDIT; in before “actually, that’s a No True Scotsman fallacy”

Didn't the Skeptic community fight against the feminists? I was under the impression that they did, and the ones that defected over to the feminist side became breadtubers now whilst the rest continued their anti-feminist, right-wing tirades or broke bread with the same evangelical Christians they once demonized.

To be fair, the radical form of Skeptic atheism was always just a fad. At the end of the day, aside from people who honestly came to the conclusion that they can't live with God, or that God isn't in their lives, most of the radical atheists were just riding a wave of resentment towards religious authorities that started in the mid-2000s with the discontent against Bush Jr. and his wars coalescing with tales of abuse from religious parents and the sex scandals of the clergy. But now that wave of resentment has died out, especially as the numbers of religious people continue to rise thanks to immigration, while others who left the Church in the early 2000s are coming back for the sense of community.

So all of a sudden, whining about religion became something seen as a joke, especially when politics were a bigger hot-button topic that can get clicks. Skeptics were always about preaching to the choir and getting approval for calling out obvious idiots; we clearly saw this by the fact that, during the early years, the Skeptics mostly picked on the idiot self-taught religious people, not educated religious people who could make mincemeat of their nihilistic, plebian arguments. And the fact is, the feminists and troons that the Skeptics later tackled were also rather low-brow and not the smartest people among the left; most of them were emotionally maladjusted beings who needed social validation for their opinions, which made them easy prey for a bunch of edgy internet trolls.

At the end of the day, the Skeptics were outlasted by their Christian and feminist enemies because those groups had something that the Skeptics did not; a genuine sense of community and solidarity. The Skeptics were just a bunch of asshole internet trolls who put in the minimal effort against groups that were low-IQ and were easy to piss off or debunk. Unlike churches and feminist groups, they never truly spent time and money building communities with each other, and they'd happily turn on each other if they had disagreements. At the end of the day, they were just a bunch of keyboard warriors led by morons who were talking into cameras or microhpones for a bunch of total strangers, and their message had no real substance. Your average church has more to go with than that, and the feminists not only were friends with their college teachers, but had big money groups funding them. So they eventually won out because they had an actual sense of community, as opposed to the Skeptics where it was all just about the message.

Sorry @LORD IMPERATOR, it’s not letting me quote you.

Skepticism was never about anti-feminism, it’s just a lot of the anti-SJW types gota start trying to latch themselves to it. Sargon used to read the abstract of sociological research at one point, make an arse of what it was saying and arguing with it, then do “it’s just common sense” which is the opposite skepticism.

I parted ways with the movement as my local society got pozzed.

Atheism wasn’t a fringe of the skeptic movement, it a key part of it. You don’t get skeptics who are theists.

Not sure we’re you’re from but over here in Europe only old ladies and darkies can’t lived without a god. The rest of use can cope, those who can’t seethe and dilate by becoming lefties.

Sadly it was the seething and dilating which took over as the rest of us were too busy getting on with life.

But that's because feminism became the new buzzword as religious evangelicals were on the decline during the Obama years.

It pretty much was the key part of it, but the fact is, Atheism cannot build a community of its own. They almost always just parasite off the Christian west. Hence why it was so easy for the Woke to divide and conquer; converting the Skeptics who had left-leaning tendencies, while the right-leaning Skeptics were forced to break bread with the very same evangelicals that they considered their enemies half a decade before.

Europe is fast becoming religious again, just not Christian. Soon it will be a continent dominated by Muhammad's children as the white folk who left Christ behind are not reproducing. They will die out and be replaced by Arabs who pray east. Not to mention the people who are most opposed to this are traditionalist Christians in Europe, the likes of say, the Poles, who want things to go back to the good old days of the Christian religion dominating European life.

Nah, boy. That level of scepticism, where one is forced to questioning fucking gravity all for the sake of "intellectual" consistency, is too much 2000s-era 4-chan faggotry.

Theists have long been sceptics (i.e., Copernicus, who was a Roman priest). Sceptics simply question prevailing or "accepted" orthodoxies. Atheists question (well, more like just deny) theism, but they don't tend to question their own closely held pieties.

In the current context, theists do a hell of a lot of scepticism of prevailing thought, such as troonyism or "wokeness"™️.

My brother in the antichrist, I am talking about the skeptic community. I’m not talking about the entirety of philosophical history.

It has a pretty specific meaning in this context.

Those theists you speak of all dye their beards and are secretly gay but that’s a tale for another thread.
