I honestly only know about American politics from what I read on the Internet but since we all love shitting on leftists I figured we'd get a kick out of this. Also it's trending on Twitter so you know it's important.

NEW YORK — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old political novice running on a low budget and an unabashedly liberal platform, upset longtime U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley on Tuesday in the Democratic congressional primary in New York.

The surprise victory by the community organizer in a district that includes parts of the Bronx and Queens came after an energetic, grassroots campaign that mustered more than enough support in a low-turnout race that many had expected to be an easy win for Crowley, a member of the Democratic House leadership.

“The community is ready for a movement of economic and social justice. That is what we tried to deliver,” said Ocasio-Cortez, who has never held elected office and whose candidacy attracted only modest media attention.

She told The Associated Press after her victory that she didn’t have enough money to do polling in the race, but felt in her gut that her message had a chance to connect.

“I live in this community. I organized in this community. I felt the absence of the incumbent. I knew he didn’t have a strong presence,” she said.

Crowley has been in Congress since 1999 and hadn’t faced an opponent in a primary election since 2004, when Ocasio-Cortez was just a teenager. He was considered a candidate to become the next House speaker if Democrats win the majority.

“It’s not about me,” Crowley, 56, told his supporters at a campaign party following his loss. “It’s about America. I want nothing but the best for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez. I want her to be victorious.”

He later played guitar with a band at the election night gathering, and dedicated the first song, Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run,” to Ocasio-Cortez.

Crowley represents New York’s 14th Congressional District, where he is also the leader of the Queens Democratic party.

Ocasio-Cortez was outspent by an 18-1 margin during her race but won the endorsement of some influential groups on the party’s far left, including MoveOn, as well as the actress Cynthia Nixon, who is running for governor. She defeated Crowley by 15 percentage points.

Born in the Bronx to a mother from Puerto Rico and a father who died in 2008, Ocasio-Cortez said she decided to challenge Crowley to push a more progressive stance on economic and other issues.

She attended Boston University, where she earned degrees in economics and international relations, and also spent time working in the office of the late U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

After graduating, she returned to the Bronx where she became a community organizer. In the 2016 presidential campaign she worked for U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Among her issues is expanding the Medicare program to people of all ages and abolishing Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. She recently went to Tornillo, Texas, to protest against policies that have separated parents from their children at the southern U.S. border.

Ocasio-Cortez gained some internet attention for a campaign video called “The Courage to Change,” a two-minute spot for which she wrote the script and featured footage from her own home.

Crowley is chair of the House Democratic Caucus, the fourth-highest ranking position in Democratic leadership in that chamber of Congress.

His loss drew the attention of President Donald Trump.

“Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi’s place, just LOST his primary election. In other words, he’s out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!” he tweeted.

The Republican candidate for the office, Anthony Pappas, is running unopposed and had no primary. Pappas teaches economics at St. John’s University.

She was a Bernie campaigner, is supported by BLM, and wants to abolish Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Also this was in a solid-blue Congressional District so you know she's a shoo-in for next Congress.

But hey, we did get to see Trump laugh at Crowley on Twitter.

Well, another day, another deleted tweet

My only question,

Does AOC delete these herself when she starts getting negative ratings her ego can't take?

Or does a handler/other Rep frantically tell her she's fucked up again, and she begrudgingly takes down the "truth people can't handle" while bellyaching about lack of support?
I doubt she writes her own tweets. Everything this retard does is reviewed and vetted by a 5 star team of soy boys like Sean McElwee and Zack Exley who have made most of her decisions for her.

This woman is just a puppet that wealthy white men use to control the identity politics obsessed left

I'm guessing the latter. AOC seems like an authentic tumblrite on all levels, I really think any vague hints of political acumen are purely the results of her tard wranglers coming down on her and saying "Do what we tell you or no more money, and you can go back to being merely Middle Upper Class rather than Above The Law."

Keep your mouth open AOC, that'll help Trump to be re-elected this fall. That or she really lack a brain for the way she enjoyed the collapse of oil prices.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., tweeted—and then quickly deleted—comments that appeared to show adulation over the price of oil dipping below $0 a barrel, which will ultimately lead to job losses.

Ocasio-Cortez on April 20 reacted gleefully at news that the price of oil had dropped below $0, saying that such a milestone would mean the United States was ripe for a mass transition to green energy.

The comments appeared to suggest that Ocasio-Cortez was unaware of the job losses that would accompany the drop in price, or simply didn’t care.

The tweet also suggested that she didn’t understand that consumers would be less likely to transition to expensive renewable-energy sources while oil is cheaper than it’s ever been.

Her wranglers fell asleep again!

AOC suggests low-income Americans should boycott work after coronavirus shutdown ends

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., argued Wednesday that many Americans should protest economic insecurity by refusing to work after coronavirus-related restrictions are lifted.

"When we talk about this idea of reopening society, you know, only in America does the president -- when the president tweets about liberation -- does he mean go back to work. When we have this discussion about going back or reopening, I think a lot people should just say 'no' — we’re not going back to that,” she said.

“We’re not going back to working 70-hour weeks just so that we could put food on the table and not even feel any sort of semblance of security in our lives.”

Her comments came during an interview with Vice TV host Anand Giridharadas, who famously speculated that President Trump's sexual insecurity was "literally threatening to annihilate the planet."

The interview with Ocasio-Cortez is set to air Wednesday night.

The freshman congresswoman has received plenty of attention for her response to the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic. On Monday, she posted an apparently celebratory tweet in response to oil prices collapsing.

"You absolutely love to see it," she said in the since-deleted tweet. She later tweeted: "This snapshot is being acknowledged as a turning point in the climate movement. Fossil fuels are in long-term structural decline. This along w/ low interest rates means it‘s the right time to create millions of jobs transitioning to renewable and clean energy. A key opportunity."

As the country grapples with massive job losses induced by the restrictions, rallies have taken place in several major states with some attendees wearing "Make America Great Again" hats and waving Trump flags.

Public health experts have warned that an easing of the shutdowns must be accompanied by wider testing and tracing of infected people to keep the virus from coming back with a vengeance. President Trump has maintained, however, that the solution to the coronavirus could be worse than the problem itself.

On Friday, Trump urged three state governments to "liberate" their people from restrictions that have impacted economic activity.

While it's unclear what the full economic impact will be, at least 22 million people -- more than 13 percent of the workforce -- have filed unemployment claims in recent weeks. Ocasio-Cortez and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., have pushed for relief beyond what Congress initially proposed.

Ocasio-Cortez went off on a rant Tuesday in which she told economic shutdown protesters they were petitioning the wrong government officials, and should tell President Trump to "make some damn tests" for the coronavirus.

"If you want your freedom, if you want to end the shutdown, then tell your president to make some damn tests and to support some state governments,” the freshman congresswoman said during an Instagram Live session.

“This is outrageous," she added. "So, if you want to make sure that we reopen the economy, why don’t you turn around, march on over to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and protest this president who's not supporting our governors and making sure that we get the tests, the medical equipment, the hospital funding, and the state and local funding, so that we can all get on with our lives."

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

It reminds me of a poster I saw during our last election:
Destroy the working class
Refuse to work
Be incompetent

Why does she think low oil prices mean people will turn away from using oil?

I get that she's never had a job besides "flirt with drunks for tips," and so can't conceive that work is not only necessary to make civilization happy, but that some people have jobs they can be proud of doing well. I understand that she is a product of her environment.

But how can she be so stupid as to think people have lost interest in using petroleum because shutdowns have glutted the market temporarily?

Reminder that the politician currently struggling to comprehend the relationship between price and demand claims (and Boston University hasn't refuted, afiak) to be the recipient of an Economics minor.

"I'm gonna stop driving. Fuel is too affordable."

Nope. That's not a plausible level of stupidity. Nobody who doesn't need their hot dogs cut lengthwise would voice a thought like that. She has tipped her hand. The suspension if disbelief can no longer be maintained.

Not to mention oil is needed for the items she needs to implement her socialist new deal.

Wednesday during a livestream with hip-hop artist Fat Joe, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) confirmed that she will vote for former Vice President Joe Biden in November’s general election, despite endorsing his former rival, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), for president.

A partial transcript is as follows:

FAT JOE: There’s three things you can do: You can vote for Trump, you can vote for Biden, or you can not vote at all. Who are you going to vote for?
REP. ALEXANDRIA OCASIO-CORTEZ: In November, I’m going to be voting for Joe Biden. That’s what I’m going to be doing.
FAT JOE: I love that, AOC. I love that. Is this the first time you said you’re voting for Joe Biden?
REP. OCASIO-CORTEZ: I’ve been saying this whole time that we’ve got to support the Democratic nominee.
FAT JOE: But is this the first time you said Joe Biden, that you’re voting for Joe Biden?
REP. OCASIO-CORTEZ: This might be, it could be the second. I don’t know. This is the time I’m saying it declaratively like this because you asked a straight question, so I’ll give you a straight answer.

Lives off the state, terrified of working, finds time to play with toys and drink, wants the government to hand her everything for free...

Is AOC the first NEET to achieve political office?

NEETS are actually self-aware of their NEETdom.
AOC is just another politician pretending to fight for things that she will end up losing.

I'd also point out the people who are impacted most by her idiotic schemes are..... poor people.

The guy that can afford an $80,000 GMC can afford an $80,000 Tesla

There's literally nothing in the <$20,000 or worse, second hand market for low income people to afford that met Obama's proposed 55mpg standard.

First of all, any rumors that John Iadarola was actually born a female are completely untrue. John has always been a man and was never named Joan. The lust for penis that can be seen in his eyes is very real though.

Secondly, I think if you looked up "Soy Boy" in the dictionary you would find a picture of John Iadarola.
