I know it only qualifies as anecdotal evidence, but I’ve met unanimous disapproval for the riots among blacks offline. A dirty little secret is that if there is a hung jury/mistrial, the prosecution will do a bunch of barely legal shit to insure they win on retrial:

1. Try and get the new trial assigned to a judge who is more or less in their pocket/a prosecutor's judge that favors them exclusively
2. Dissect the case the defense put on and then move heaven and earth to disallow as much as humanly possible of the defense's case from seeing the light of day in the courtroom during the re-trial via having the new judge bar the defense from re-presenting witnesses and evidence (meaning the prosecution will do their damnest to bar ALL evidence that shows Floyd's past drug use, bad health, or anything that medically shows that something other than Chauvin killed him
3. Drag out the start of the new court date, to beggar the defendant so he can't keep his same legal team; meaning he has to downgrade to a lazy ass public defender who will pressure him to take a plea bargain. This is tied with them demanding that the defendant go straight to jail as opposed to remaining out of bail until all appeals are exhausted.
