Who said this is a "if you're not with us, you're against us" issue? I certainly do not consider myself an ally of people who think that writing depraved erotic fanfiction of anime characters is a useful way to spend one's time (at least write it with thinly-veiled OCs. Then you have a chance of getting a book deal and being the next Stephenie Meyer). But between the person who quietly writes depraved fanfiction featuring minors, the person who quietly reads depraved fanfiction featuring minors, and the person who hyperbolically spergs on Twitter about how fanfiction featuring minors is victimizing real children, well, it should be obvious which one is more entertaining (and detestable).
And I agree with harbleglarb above about the definition of "child pornography." In the same way that the word "fascist" has lost all meaning in 2020 because there are so many spergs using that word to refer to homemakers with three kids and a minivan if they voted for Trump in 2016, if we start referring to drawings of big-eyed anime characters or fully-CG images using 3D models ripped from a PS3 game as "child pornograpy," then that word begins to lose its very severe and critical original meaning. The shit that lady posted was both creepy and cringey AF, and it says a lot about the current state of vibaya ganes jergalibsm that that article was posted on a video games site (perhaps even more so than TLoU2-gate), and I want nothing to do with that nutjob, but for fuck's sake,
it was not child pornography, and nobody involved with the creation of that article should end up in prison.
(Aside: I am aware that according to some state laws, pornographic drawings and CG renderings of children
do count as child pornography, but those laws are stupid and probably rarely enforced unless the prosecutors really want to screw with someone.)
All that said:

Care to expand on that comment? Why would someone molest a child if they didn't get any gratification from it?
