I agree that the discourse can be exceptional at times because on the surface, it's mostly nerds fighting over what fictional ships they think are the best. I know it seems dumb to use terms like anti, fanpol, or whatever...but in my opinion it does perfectly describe how hypocritical they act in fandoms. How stupid do you have be to proudly call yourself an anti-fujoshi saying that you hate it when straight women sexualize gay men; then create a new term called MLM (Men Loving Men) which is basically the same as yaoi but woke.

You're also right about how the crusaders/pedo hunters don't really accomplish anything in the end because they often ignore the actual predators. None of these crusaders will even go up against them or report them because they're fucking cowards that are often trying to "atone for their problematic past" or desperately trying to hide the fact that they're disgusting degenerates in the end. They also intentionally misinform minors on what pedophiles actually are so that they're easier to groom. Don't believe me? Don't you think it's strange that all these crusader groups have very few adults but have a bunch of minors following them around repeating everything they say? Kind of like a cult?

Should people who have fucked up kinks be able to outlet them? Yes, but if they put it into a public space, they shouldn't get upset if people criticize them for the content they post and try to victimize themselves. Not the entirety of the ship community is like this, but an overwhelming number of adults think that they should have a right to freely post without locking their shotacon/lolicon account. I think this is wrong because minors can get a hold of this stuff easily without consenting to it. (Minors inserting themselves into an adult space and then blaming the adults is a completely different issue, not what I'm talking about here.)

Anyways, not going to completely derail the thread on ship twitter drama, but I don't think a lot of the 'predator hunters' are adults. I know one of the more prominent loli crusader accounts was a minor herself, but my problem with that whole thing is that these people are willingly exposing themselves to CP to get an account banned. And they're willingly exposing other people to CP without any warnings. And they're muddying up the word 'CP' to mean both shotacon/lolicon, and y'know, kids being raped on camera. Big difference there. While 'predator hunting' can seem like a cult... that's just Twitter cancel culture in general. Anyone feels good by doing some slacktivism, exposing people to real CP, and getting a 0 follower account banned. Rather than submitting an FBI tip and reporting to Twitter formally. Sigh.

I think it's harmful for the minors who throw themselves into it and are willingly traumatizing themselves by looking at this stuff, but I don't think it is making them easier to groom for adults in itself.

it wasn't pro-shippers that adopted the anti moniker. they did that themselves, when this stuff started taking off on tumblr. it's relatively recent that they've started to oppose the label.

also... having a content warning on their twitter bio/in their handle should (in my opinion of course) be enough. it's not like most porn sites are any more secure with their "are you 18+? yes/no" pages where all you need to do to lie about your age is press a button. if actual hardcore porn sites only need to go that far (and many don't even do so), then people who post on a site that allows adult content shouldn't be held to higher standards. locking an account isn't desirable for a lot of artists, especially those that make money off their art.

i'd agree, the issue is a lot of other sites that do allow NSFW content (and have a decently sized userbase) also don't allow loli/shota content. so the options there are fairly limited, especially for those that don't want to draw for a very niche audience or don't wanna draw just loli/shota content.

i've seen at least some pro-shippers say they're not bothered by people being grossed out/upset about the subject matter of their art, their big sticking point is usually the extreme reactions and ridiculous logic of antis. it obviously varies from person to person though. that said, i think the best course of action if someone stumbles on content that's appropriately tagged on an account with appropriate warnings in their bio/profile is to block the artist and move on, and/or mute the tags. the person drawing that shit probably already knows that people find it weird/gross/objectionable, so there's not much point telling them. if it's not tagged/warned for appropriately, report it block them and move on.

Don't know who are you talking about specifically, but yeah that's something i've noticed too whenever i see some innocent artist getting harassed nowadays on twitter: that most of these crusaders are minors themselves, which i find kinda weird i guess? I thought my example with the Animal Crossing was clear enough to get this across, but yeah. This is what I was trying to say. I tried looking her up, seems like she deactivated her account? It was a fairly popular account in mid-May dedicated to busting legitimate people who posted [actual] CP and had a lot of followers. It appeared on my TL a couple of times, and you're right, it seemed like most of the people who followed her were also minors. I'll try to update my post or the thread if I can find anything. Her icon was a PicCrew one and there was emojis around the display name-- something like Loli Crusader or Loli Hunter. Sorry for the extremely vague details.

I still don't think it was right of her to refer to herself as a Loli Crusader when talking about actual child abuse. Blurs the line even more.

hey man, i just appreciate you being open to discuss this and consider my point of view, even if we disagree. and yeah, i think you're pretty much right about where/why we disagree on this. i will say that there isn't 0 onus on the artist, just that they're not the only ones that need to be responsible. they absolutely should be tagging their content appropriately, and warning for it where needed. i just disagree that they should need to lock their accounts--though i think that's an issue with twitter itself, since an account being locked gives you no information on why.

while i'm not the biggest fan of the site, toyhou.se actually does this better: character profiles (and potentially user profiles as well?) can have a warning you have to click through that can be used to tell people what kind of potentially upsetting content may be shown/discussed (and individual images on a character's profile can be marked as NSFW, which a user can decide to not be able to see). it does have its own issues, such as people using it to basically say "original character do not steal" instead of what it's intended for, but it's better than what twitter has.

I think I'm seeing a pattern here where the antis get a kick out of harassing people over loli and they resort to outright reposting the offending pictures just to rile up people, but this case is particulary ugly because she approached an underage person and just sent her the porn directly.

She appears to have "solved" three cases thus far. One on someone named THiN_CRUST, another named ZoomySkull and the last one being quantum kitty. Of these three rapid 'cases' she dealt with THiN_CRUST was one that wasn't well doccument (PDF attached), then the account of ZoomySkull was very well doccumented (PDF attached) then she hit the abosolute wrong target with Quantum Kitty and ended up making a montage of a user who went by Schrodinger Cat (video)

After she got really high off her own farts with all these 'cases' she's been handing she decided to make her own twitter group for tips and leads. This way her "team" can go through and collect as much personal information on these people as possible- doxing them- then handing it over to authorities. Considering her track record is already 2/3 and the way she speaks to some other twitter users- her followers will gang up on these people.

Can't wait to see if this stuff goes down hill! (and at some point dig up those damn tweets I lost in of her smug attitude and better display her timeline of the zoomy shit)
