I can see the logic in the idea, but it's based on a fallacy that someone who gets off to child porn will find cartoons of child porn an acceptable substitute - this whole thread is about the two aren't related both in content and in audience. Tenchi Muyo? It remember it being pretty tame, particularly compared to later raunchier harem anime like Love Hina. I have no idea how the more recent series went, though.

Also, IIRC the Jurai girls (Ayeka and Sasami) were listed as "over 700 years old", but it was a technicality because they spent 700 years in suspended animation on their way to Earth and everybody just treated them their age. I don't think they really count (plus Ayeka was... something between 17 and 21 depending on where you looked).

That's the big problem with that solution, yeah. Let's use a less taboo form of entertainment as an example here...

Consider horror movie fans. Some of these people are in for the scares, others are fascinated by the gore, and a few are a bit of both. But it's all fictional, all staged, and increasingly these days all CGI. But while horror movies are readily available and not really regulated anywhere in the developed world outside of recommended age ratings, there's still a thriving market for the real stuff. Snuff movies, suicide footage, graphic car accident videos, war footage of people getting their guts ripped open by machinegun fire, that sort of shit. Now, not every horror fan is going to be into real life gore, far from it. But the real life goremonglers, although likely also interested in horror movies, aren't going to be satisfied just watching someone's face being peeled off in CGI when they know they could see the real thing in a Mexican cartel execution video.

Same deal with pedophiles. Not every lolicon is a pedo. But every pedo is very likely a lolicon, and you could pump their eyeballs so full of hentai it gushes out of their ears if you wanted to, but it would still not be enough. Given the chance, they'd still go looking for the real stuff because that's how they get their kicks. Just like with snuff fans, it's an innate attraction that can't fully be sated by a "fake" version of what they really want. They're fucking mentally sick. If these guys are looking to avoid problems, they're free to look for therapy, but they need to stay the hell away from children. For their own good. All it takes is a quick lapse in willpower while alone with a kid, and these guys start diddling.

I think not telling children at young age that imaginary things are just imaginary. Parents just let their children watch TV or on the internet unattended without reminding them that fictional characters aren't equivalent to real people. And thus it leads to shit like people saying "fiction affects reality" in a literal sense. I also think that these kinds of people have never probably daydreamed or played pretend when they were kids, which is why they probably get very invested in that argument.

Back in the 90s, I watched a lot of shows and movies that showed the "making of" process when it comes to filmmaking. Even Disney VHS tapes showed previews of people in their studios animating and voice acting the characters, which made me appreciate it a lot more. I became aware that characters were fictional and pretending to go on adventures with these characters didn't affect me in the real world.

In regards to sexual fantasies, it seems to be more of a thing in the west where people think that having a taboo fetish/fantasy means that you're going to act it out in the real world. Even if it's completely in the realm of fiction like a fair amount of things in hentai. A lot of these crusaders have fetishes of their own that they feel very ashamed about, so they lash out against other people who are more open and positive about healthy sexual behavior. It has also lead to people unironically wanting those who have certain fetishes to be arrested for thoughtcrimes.

The imaginary part is actually pretty bleak as modern generations are told make believe and daydream is cringe at best, creepy at worst. That you are to stick yourself firmly to the way of "enlightened neutrality" and avoid any kind of imaginary behavior at any time lest you end up be seen as weird. Coupled with increased dosages of anti depressants/adhd medication and an education demanding you think a certain way.

Also another issue is the fact communities built around anime did have a fair share of run-ins with creepy individuals who give off an actual predator feeling but are paper tigers combined with the groomers who go around promoting anti loli propaganda and its easier to spread to intimidate the obvious threats than the ones who hide in the shadows pretending to be the good guy but can't hold down their impulses that we do the favor of exposing to show their "human side".

By young people I mean in the 15-25 age range, who would, in most western countries, be above the age of consent (14-16 being a baseline average). It’s across the board as well. Its strange to think 100 years ago you had teenagers as young as 15 fighting in fucking trenchs. The concept of childhood is a very recent thing in the grand scheme of human history and it seems that in our late stage of decadence that an increasing number of young people are opting away from responsiablities to keep the childhood going for as long as humanly possible.

Sasami was popular enough to get her own spin-off where she's a magical girl. She does wear some really short skirts and is even nude in her transformation sequence.

I believed that I talked about it regarding age gaps in relationships that these kinds of people tend to get rather salty over. They honestly believe that any adult older than another adult by a few years to a decade or more is some sort of predator/groomer (like say a 25 year old and 35 year old). Plus, I don't think many people in their 20s want to be treated like a child with no sense of agency. And the fact that people are just wanting to change the definition of what a pedophile is actually like just causes way more problems in the long run.

Like if people want to act like an adult baby for the rest of their lives, that's their choice. But it doesn't exactly stop people from growing up and eventually realizing they have responsibilities that come with being an adult. The reason why a lot of the groomers nearly get away with what they do is because they try to blend in with those who are underage by adopting their speech patterns and behavior. I at least go out of my way to join communities that are adults only so I don't have to deal with minors at all, but some people act like it's no big deal just letting them in and exposing them to some very unsavory people.

See, I would accept that reasoning if those hacks actually tried to play as themselves. Some people just do that, they make a character that's basically themselves for every game, and it's usually not a big deal. But assholes like those people take it up five or ten notches by going out of their way to try to make "quirky" and "oppressed" characters that just don't work with the world's themes, or what the GM wants to do with the campaign.

There are very few overweight cripples in wheelchairs who play D&D. Most people demanding to play disabled characters are perfectly able-bodied and obsessed with claiming to be oppressed in some way. Either in the game by playing a cripple, or in real life by being denied playing a cripple.

Pretty Sammy was a parody of Magical Girl shows that were all the rage at the time so it's a given she'd do the Sailor Moon nude transformation thing, although just like Sailor Moon there's nothing in view. And, IIRC the abbreviated transformation sequence has her clothes transforming without the nude step. As for the short skirts... well, they're made of Animium: that incredible material that allows for full freedom of movement without panty shots. So, by current standards it was still pretty tame.

Mental illness. A dad actually being a dad and playing with/caring for his young daughter? No sane human would see this as sexual abuse. I can’t imagine how these special individuals would react when they realize that he probably has to help her bathe and change as well. The only thing I can imagine is that they’ve never experienced actual parental love and their brains simply can not comprehend that a father might choose to actually give a shit about his kids without there being sexual undertones.

Normal adults just do not have those neural pathways when thinking about kids and their parents. It’s fucking weird.
