So I couldn’t use my VR set for a couple weeks due to some health issues, but thanks to the Steam sale I picked up a half dozen games and I’ve been playing a couple.
I like Google Blocks as a fun little Blender-lite. Its inability to really allow precision makes it a bit tough to use, but I still enjoyed it and will keep going with it.
Minecraft in VR still makes me sick in about 90 seconds, even with extra strong blinders and movement smoothing and everything I can think of turned on.
But Gravity Labs is amazing! It was the first game where I turned on the room boundaries and actually let myself walk around the space. And even with the boundaries on I found myself getting lost and touching furniture a few times.
It was really awesome moving things around and reaching up and down to try to get angles. A couple times I forgot that I couldn’t actually just reach or fly as high as I wanted to. ...I’m gushing, I guess, but it was a really fascinating experience. It doesn’t have the precision of Infinifactory, or even Portal, but I’ve also never just completely forgotten where I was in those.
Game has some serious bugs though. Kept getting stuck in menus, the gif recorder doesn’t work, if you jump back to the main menu it sometimes doesn’t record your progress. Issues, but hopefully solvable.
Also, having something go through your head while in VR is this surreal and jarring experience.
