I have a Reverb G2 and it's certainly an improvement on the first gen Reverb. I mostly use mine for work so I might not have the exact same reasons for liking it that would transfer to gaming. If you haven't already looked for reviews on it, this seems like a pretty decent review- Reverb G2 review I've played a few VR games like Alyx and Star Wars Squadrons all the way through on the Reverb G2 and thought it worked well, and the image quality was fantastic. The controllers aren't really anything special.

The per-eye resolution is the same as it was on the original Reverb, but the lenses have really been improved and HP finally added manual IPD adjustment. At 2160x2160 per eye, you need a pretty decent gpu to run it. The guy in the video link said the 1080 ti he was using was just about good enough for MS Flight Sim. I'm also a big fan of inside-out tracking, which I think the Reverb is really good at. I've had a lot of non-technical people using the G2 for work related sims, and they all find it pretty intuitive to use and don't run in to any tracking issues. My apps don't really tax the gpu a whole lot so we don't have any issues with performance on pre-RTX Quadro cards.

Thank you. I've done a bit of research since I asked and I think this may be the one I go for.

Is there anyway to watch porn on PSVR? I'm not asking for a friend. I'm asking for me.

streaming only. you could probably use a usb-stick, but those are limited to FAT and most files easily exceed that limit, the internal harddrive is already small enough, and I don't think going through the hassle of hooking up an external hard drive specifically for your ps4 is worth it (if you can even put other stuff on there than just games, never tried it).

the media player supports VR and DLNA, so you can set up a media server like universal media server and locally stream it from there. if you don't use your network alone you want to whitelist your ps4 or better use a cable (streaming HD content via wifi sucks balls anyway), since porn suddenly showing up on the living room tv can lead to some uncomfortable discussions.

on the software side the media player is as barebones as you can imagine, doesn't support certain formats (like fisheye), HEVC and any resolution bigger than 1080p (I think, might be 1440p). so that glorious 4k video is out of the question. universal media server can transcode (recode the file on the fly to serve specific resolutions and codecs), but that requires a somewhat beefy rig which most file servers/NAS aren't and won't fix the format. there might be media players with more features on the store, but since the VR hype died down and it was already a pretty sorry state back then I doubt more people invested in the software for that, let alone free. there just isn't a market for "normal" vr movies that could push for improvements in that regard.

there might be a way to stream it via the internet (never tried it myself tho, so good luck), not sure how the playstation browser supports it. there might even be a way to get around the media player limitations and set up your own webserver to use those browser features, but imo that's a bit too much effort for just squeezing one out. fwiw at least most sites offer a straight psvr version, if not the gear vr version usually works too. so if your internet can handle it that's probably the most convenient option.

in case you just want to see what it looks like: download a trailer/teaser from any of those sites (most scenes have one), put it on a stick (file size is usually small enough), open it up in media player and there you go. or just stream it directly if the browser supports it.

all in all I respect what sony has done with the psvr in terms of setup for normies and usability, but man, once you go full master race you'll never look back.

Can't you hook up the PSVR to PC? I'm pretty certain I read about a hack like that, so just do that.

you can, but the hoops you have to jump through aren't really worth it (last time I checked at least, which has been a while).
why bother when back then you could just buy a full WMR set for 200 bucks and don't have to deal with jerry-rigging your own tracking solution needing a ps3 eyetoy (included camera didn't work), additional software and still lack motion controls to get on the same level?

if you just want vr/3d video that's much simpler, but still a bit more involved.

I'm curious how VR is holding up. Do you still play VR, or is it gathering dust along with the Wii and the Christmas decorations?

I also want to know what you guys think about the VR mods. There's source ports of existing games like Quake and Half-Life (which could open the door to a lot of content if they work with regular map packs/mods), and various mods for Half-Life Alyx (like Goldeneye). How are they?

I see people joke about VR porn, but is there really that much? I know there was that one meme game early on (VR Kanojo), and I guess Gal Gun technically counts, but I've not heard of much else.

It's not something I play consistently, but I'll definitely put it on in waves. Hotdogs, Horseshoes, and Handgrenades is still my by far most played game, but it's regularly getting updates. I still haven't gotten around to Boneworks or HL Alex, but I've picked up a few bundles and enjoyed stuff like I Expect You to Die and The Room VR. No Man's Sky was a very immersive experience in VR, and I don't think it would of stuck with be the same way on a monitor. The Walking Dead Saints and Sinners has a free expansion coming out soon that's made me think about revisiting that flawed but interesting game.

I haven't messed with any games modded to work on VR. I did recently look into it for Resident 7. From what I found it could be forced with a paid third party program, and it works but only just. Something on the lower end is probably a lot more viable though.

I've tried VR ports for Classic Doom, Quake, HL1, and Doom 3, Doom and Quake worked out of the box without any issues, but HL1 and Doom 3 have controller issues if you are using WMR, as they are designed for the Vive and Occulus.

The state of VR ports is rather dire, most of them seem abandoned after the initial release, and it's even worse if you compare it to VR ports on the Occulus Quest, which get updates constantly, there's even a Return To Castle Wolfenstein port that they haven't bothered to port back to PC.

I still play VR but every single time I try to play VR with other friends that own it as well, it always leads to some massive technical fuckup. Pavlov, H3VR and Blade and Sorcery are still fun as shit even though I can't hit the broad side of a barn. I will say, one of the best new VR games I've played was actually a VR mod for Risk Of Rain 2. The mod puts some VR games to shame with its quality and it was one of the most fun times in VR that I've had despite the nausea. I still need to get around to beating Half Life Alyx but headcrabs are fucking terrifiying and much much bigger than I thought they'd be.

I am still playing it weekly or biweekly, work kills my schedule sometime. Another game recommendation: Ragnarock VR is excellent and a good workout.

Half-life source port to VR is the king of jank, no other way to describe it. Quake has a really good VR port though, as well as the Serious Sam VR ports. Those are a blast.

Yes.

which games? lot of VR games use unreal because MUH PERFORMANCE, which has pretty craptastic networking to the point you can't even join together. imagine being worse than fucking CS beta 1.0 from the mid-90s

Youtube has those 360 videos and I tried watching one on my phone only to be absolutely nauseated with the body turning. Is it better with a headset?

worse. the easiest way to make someone puke is taking over their viewpoint.
or what do you mean with body turning?

Having to move the device around to view all around you. I never had this problem with the 3ds so I don't know what's new

ah, basically to simulate the tracking of the headset. should be fine then, with a headset you sit in the middle of a 360° bubble, kinda like a planetarium.
probably a side effect of the small view, did you try it with something like google cardboard to get rid of the periphery?

the real killer in VR is when movement doesn't sync (enough) with what you see, kinda like getting car sick but you have even less of physical feedback. most can get used to it tho, but everyone reacts differently.

I don't have that yet, only just my phone.

Recently I was having a hard time setting up and getting Beat Saber multiplayer working. For some reason, Beat Saber just wouldn't recognize the mods but the day after it worked perfectly fine. My guess is that there was a recent update and everything got updated overnight. Pavlov is also a bitch to get running on multiplayer for some reason and the server browser is still a little wonky. I still hope that Blade and Sorcery gets multiplayer, that shit is a blast.

Recently, I heard that Garry Newman is making S&Box(Garry Mod 2) develops in Source 2 engine and see that S&Box will have native VR support which is HUGE for VR because the problem with VR is that there not enough hot apps to justify VR.

You can fallow the development of Sbox here(mention VR at May 2021)
