The Walking Dead

Didn't even watch the entire season premiere, but what happened was kind of expected.

Like, if you read the comics, it was a given that Glenn was gonna die, although he wasn't the first to fall to Lucille. Abraham has also overstayed his welcome, since he died somewhere around this arc as well in the comic. So basically Negan hits Abraham with Lucille a few times, it's all brutal and whatever, and Abraham dies. And then fucking Daryl retaliates by punching Negan in the face, to which Negan retaliates by hitting Glenn with Lucille a few times in a brutal fashion, and they actually stay pretty loyal to the comic here, since Glenn is still sitting up but his face is all jacked up and his eye is popping out and he's blubbering and spitting out blood and his head's caved in and shit. So Negan puts him out of his misery.

I mean, yeah, I know that the show isn't following the comic canon completely, but I can't imagine Glenn or Abraham really getting much more character development, had they not been killed. Their stories were effectively over anyway, so killing them was probably the best way to dispose of them and make room for other characters.

If Based T-Dog were still alive, he would have saved everyone. :c

So I watched this, and here's my two cents:

I think this is the kick in the nuts the series needed as it was getting rather stale, I did enjoy all of the second half of season six leading up to this however- it shows just how sacred family values are no matter what political turmoil between leaders and followers may take place.

Rick Grimes getting broken down slowly over the course of S7E1 was as true to the comics as it should have been, and I'm honestly glad Negan isn't dropping "Fuck" every other minute because that'd detract from his alpha-male presentation. I'd imagine it would affect the cast and crew's ability to focus and set a proper mood, the silence ebbing about in Season 6's finale is what set this season six apart from an utterly dredging season four and five. Season sevens premier yielded a visceral reaction from even me, attention to gore wasn't only excessive but carefully played out to focus solely on Abraham and Glenn. The blood splattering on Rick Grime's face imbued that it was on, both Abraham and Glenn served as both the spine and pelvic bones for their familial group. They were Rick's sense of humor and closest brothers.

This isn't to say the trauma of loss hadn't been equally demonstrated by Michonne, Maggie, Aaron, Daryl, and everyone else's body language.

While I wouldn't hold a candle over one another, Glenn agonizing from a distended cranium and eye socket yielded that unique level of disgust and horror. I wasn't expecting AMC to show any measure of gore such as this after padding down Negan's excessive F-Bombs in the comic.

I also didn't expect the retarded fan base to start blaming Daryl for Glenn's death, because his act was of pure instinct and human compassion. Punching Negan in the jaw was his splay of willpower to fight for not only friends but family. I don't see the connection between Negan's brutality and Daryl's sense of sacrifice. Even Carl had wished he lost an arm over losing Glenn and Abraham. Rick would have wished he lost both his hands instead of losing both his family.

The newer fans of Walking Dead are just apathetic children it seems.

EDIT: I am not blindly defending Daryl/Norman Reedus because that's what greasy wet fan whales do.

I am basically saying that it wouldn't be him retaliating that got Glenn the bat, it would be the be fact they (Rick Grimes and the gang) literally killed a sizable chunk of Negan's men. It's called eye for an eye, it has nothing to fucking do with anyone specifically.

That was a damn good start to season 7, and everything I wanted. The Walking Dead is slowly improving after season 6 started, putting on Nicatro as one of their main regular directors has done wonders. He's a fantastic director and this episode is some of his best work yet.

Unlike others I didn't find last season's finale to be garbage, a lot of the casts contracts were up after all. It made sense to end it with a cliff hanger.

First of all, godamn is JDM a good Negan. I've always found him to be a great actor but he seems to be having a lot of fun playing a sadistic, insane manchild. I'm astonished at how he nails the Negan from the comics even without the f-bombs.

I had read that Glens actor wanted to move on from the show, even though it must be painful since he seems to be good friends with all of the cast, so his death didn't shock me as much. I wish him luck in whatever he's going to do next, fantastic actor too. The Walking Dead has had good luck with all of its actors and actresses, all of them are some of the strongest on TV right now.

What I am shocked by is that they killed off Abe and Glen, I never expected them to kill two of the characters like that. Bravo on having the guts to do that, wish more dark tv shows could do that everysoften. I'll miss Abes sarcastic wit, I hope Negan has a lot of good one liners like Abe did.

I also don't blame Dyarl at all for punching Negan in the face, honestly I would've too. Maybe because I liked Abe, I dunno.

The gore effects impressed me, not often you see pratical honest to god gore like that anymore. Most of it is CGI, which ruins it imo. I hope to see more gore like that from this show, it'll more than make up for it not throwing around f-bombs.

Finally, where the hell is Lincolns Emmy? That is some of the best acting I've seen since Cranston on Breaking Bad. What a great actor, his accent is always good and I almost cried myself when he almost chopped off Carl's arm.

I don't know, The Governor is one of my favorite villains from TWD series. He has depth, and he isn't entirely evil for the sake of being 'evil lol'. Negan is obviously a little different, but in the comic books he's like...the worst villian, the evilest out of all of them by far.

Are you shitting me? In the comic yes The Governor is a very well written character but in the show he's an incredibly sloppily written disaster who destroys his own community and kills dozens of his friends to get revenge on a guy who doesn't even want to be in conflict with him. The villains in something deliberately goofy like One Punch Man have more nuance than the TV version of The Governor for fucks sake.

You're comparing a comedic anime to The Walking Dead. Uh.

I should of worded myself a little better, I meant to say I liked the Governor in the comics. Though for lack of better words I feel like he's fleshed out a lot better then the other villians in the show. Sure, yeah, he turns into a genocidal maniac, but out of all of them he was somewhat more tolerable then the others. And they made an -attempt- to flesh him out beyond that.
Thought it doesn't excuse shitty writing either way.

The design of comic book governor was terrible. He looked and acted like a Cobra villain.
One thing I like about the show is that either by good writing or bad writing, Ricks group can be fucking ruthless. They killed damn near 50 saviors last season, brutally. Like in their fucking sleep. And they basically shook down hilltop and Alexandrea. "Us or them". That's not far from the terminus people.

It's hyperbole but I was making a point. The governors goes from a calm intelligent man with a clear plan into a raving "Rick bad me smash!" mess in like three episodes. The character devolves into lunacy for no reason.

I mean like, he's mentally off the rails in many ways. It is adapted from a comic book, they often have whacky villians. The TV show tries to even this out by making them somewhat more grounded and less comic booky. The Governor was a good attempt, he still had a lot of human elements.

Negan will be different, which is okay there's nothing human about him to begin with. He's a cornball, insane psychopath and he has a damn good actor to boot. It fits in the show really well still.

I don't know why your complaining about the villians, they've been consistantly better written than some of the other characters.

Jesus Christ, maybe instead of dying there she may die later on? That would fucking suck yo.

Then again there are fates worse than death, and seeing her son's future father get bludgeoned very slowly was that very thing worse than a twelve gauge.

My money is on carol, as much as I like her. Maggie is a big part of the coming wars. Ricktator sucks at diplomacy..

Rick is too broken for anything other than a false sense of diplomacy, more like submission...

Your likely right, but Carol is one of the best characters. She started our kind of weak but she really grew a spine. She's a sarcastic, strong character now.

I hope they kill off Morgan, he's just awful.

I must say, I'm glad that they've finally killed off characters who people actually give a shit about.
