The Windows OS Thread - Formerly THE OS for gamers and normies, now sadly ruined by Pajeets

Why didnt you like it? I used it for a minute and thought it was basically the same as FF
Too slow and memory spikes. FF also does this but tor doesn't do it surprisingly. Librewolf is just extremely unoptimized, I get that the installation is 330 mb compared to the 780 mb of something like chrome or brave but the stability is worth the size increase although dependence on chromium is bad.

My experience with Librewolf was like this:

> Install
> Open
=Can't find requested file=
> Browser crashes
> Uninstall

Decided to stick with Firefox and Vivaldi since then.

The need for massive legacy support has hampered Microsoft's every attempt to innovate the personal computer device, such as smartphones, tablets, and possibly the hololens
Microsoft attempt to 'innovate like smartphones' is the reason win11's start menu looks the way that it does

In terms of the one part that every other company you've mentioned didn't cared about, which is gaming, they've contributed a ton. It's a good example of how Linux wouldn't ever go anywhere as a software kibbutz and that without corporate interest it's a toy.

When Valve wasn't interested in Linux, gaming on Linux was trash, and it was the one argument against Linux. When Valve got interested in Linux, they invested a lot of time and money into making it possible, and now it's becoming a viable option for gaming. But without Valve, it would still be garbage.

Linux is only good when there is a corporate incentive to make it good. When that's not there, it's a half-assed barely working shitheap of an OS. Just look at the recent KDE debacle where a theme could wipe your OS because it had root privileges. This is what happens with projects from software kibbutz's.

This image will forever remain accurate. You want your OS to actually take over Windows? Stop treating it like a kibbutz, treat it like a corporate project. I'd love for it to be a viable alternative, but as long as it's treated like a communist utopia it's never going to happen.

I bought a new PC in 21. It came with Windows 11 on it and I had been to busy to change it until earlier this year. I put Linux on it and decided to learn it because fuck the MS overlord. I mainly use my PC to play games or do big Internet stuff. Steam was great, I loved how almost everything just worked. It's still kind of iffy at times, the resolutions we off on some of the more indy games. Overall B+ experience. I still enjoy playing some Blizzard games. Getting battle.net to work is a fucking nightmare. I just couldn't get it past the log in screen. I've got little kids, my free time is valuable to me. I am not interested in fucking around with my PC till 11PM just to play some children's card game. I ended up installing Windows 10 LTSC. So far I'm happy with it except Diablo 4 will not work because the LTSC build is too old.

If anyone is thinking about downgrading to Windows 10 LTSC, do it! Unless you play Diablo 4.

A lot of the shit people say about 11 is mostly true about 10. Microsoft is big into tracking people, been that way from the start, really.

11 smokes 10 on looks though. I always thought 10 was the ugliest windows has looked ever. It seemed like cheap Chinese shovelware looks, always hated it. 11 is a huge step-up in that regard at least.

Windows 7 pretty much had the core aesthetics nailed down, if only all of the settings and apps could've been a bit more uniform.

the only correct answer to this is 'Windows XP with the Themes service disabled and the Windows Classic color theme set'

Its easier to reinstall than to carve out the bloat, though its been a while perhaps they stopped doing that?
The problem used to be all the vendor crap. Now the crapware is coming from inside the OS. Plus all the vendor crap.

Bro you're a nigger if you think it's that bad, how about you go back using your tranny OS?

If you're a little sperg with ADHD just buy a laptop directly it's literally got the fucking OS preinstalled.
Bro the majority of a new windows install is tearing out the useless stuff from Microsoft, and it's only gotten worse in windows 11.

don't forget the vendor crap that uses a preinstalled driver mechanism to reinstall itself after a clean install.
