Avoidant personality disorder
- Too sensitive to criticism or rejection
Yes. Phil doesn't even take mild, very constructive criticism well and he came up with an absolutely loopy conspiracy theory to explain what John and Howard said in the "Rambo Retort".
- Feeling inadequate, inferior or unattractive
Yes. I'll admit this could fit vulnerable narcissism just as well but it's clear that Phil's bragging and grandiosity is to cover up his own insecurities.
- Avoidance of work activities that require interpersonal contact
Yes. He screwed himself out of thousands, probably tens of thousands, in costs on the Connectikhando because the property management company he reached out to insisted on talking via phone call instead of email.
- Socially inhibited, timid and isolated, avoiding new activities or meeting strangers
Yes. Between the leaked Discord messages and what he's said on YT + Twitter he has barely talked to his neighbors in the ~nine years since he moved to Renton and has not made a single IRL friend since he met John and Howard.
- Extreme shyness in social situations and personal relationships
Probably, anecdotally he is very timid and awkward IRL but we have little hard proof because he gets out so little.
- Fear of disapproval, embarrassment or ridicule
There should not be a debate here. Phil has created a whole online ecosystem to protect his ego.
Dependent Personality Disorder
- Excessive dependence on others and feeling the need to be taken care of
- Submissive or clingy behavior toward others
Submissive yes, clingy maybe. At this point I'm pretty sure he would let Kat get away with murder if he thought that would keep her from leaving. Based on his description of their relationship it's definitely a roommate situation, if some of his anecdotes of himself + Kat are true (like that weird story about how he told her he liked looking at her and having her around) he's trying to be affectionate but it comes across to me as creepy/clingy.
- Fear of having to provide self-care or fend for yourself if left alone
Yes with a huge "but" - based on how he lived in Connecticut and during the Single Saga he can't even do basic things like home maintenance or laundry. At least to me any fear he has of having to fend for himself is legitimate because he can't do it.
- Lack of self-confidence, requiring excessive advice and reassurance from others to make even small decisions
No. When he asks for advice it's either to create the illusion of consensus/listening or because he's too lazy to think of a solution himself (Simpsons "we've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas" meme goes here).
- Difficulty starting or doing projects on your own due to lack of self-confidence
No. Phil has trouble starting new projects due to laziness but when he does start something he thinks it'll be amazing. Just look at DSP Reacts, it was a rebrand of his old vlog channel .
- Difficulty disagreeing with others, fearing disapproval
On his streams no, IRL kind of. Phil is king and tyrant on his streams/forum/Twitter feed but he is supposedly meek and timid in person. The reason I say "kind of" is that I can't tell whether he fears disapproval or just conflict in general.
- Tolerance of poor or abusive treatment, even when other options are available
I don't see it, even if his claims about Kat being jealous/insecure of him cheating were true that doesn't cross the line into poor and abusive in my opinion. He does tolerate shit from his whales but that's not abusive towards
him and he does not really have another option unless he wants to get a real job.
- Urgent need to start a new relationship when a close one has ended
Yes but again, Phil really is incapable of functioning on his own and much of his ego is tied up in being a Successful Mature Adult. You don't need Dependent Personality Disorder to explain this.
Obsessive-compulsive personality disorder
- Preoccupation with details, orderliness and rules
- Extreme perfectionism, resulting in dysfunction and distress when perfection is not achieved, such as feeling unable to finish a project because you don't meet your own strict standards
Lol no to both of these. Phil puts minimal effort into his streams and his only metric/standard for success is getting money.
- Desire to be in control of people, tasks and situations, and inability to delegate tasks
Yes. He runs his forum and chat like North Korea and only delegates simple tasks he can easily take back if the mod doing them gets out of line.
- Neglect of friends and enjoyable activities because of excessive commitment to work or a project
No, he neglects these because he is a lazy hermit.
- Inability to discard broken or worthless objects
Sort of. He has all those FGC action figures + videogame collectibles lying around the Snort Fort somewhere but he still attaches value to them (sentimental for the action figures, financial for the other collectibles - if memory serves he tried to sell those on eBay but gave up because nobody was willing to pay the asking price).
So long as money isn't on the line, yes. If the trolls began saying the earth is round Phil would happily join the Flat Earth Society.
- Inflexible about morality, ethics or values
Nope, when money is involved Phil will forget any values he claims to have.
- Tight, miserly control over budgeting and spending money
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA no. If Phil has money to burn he will spend it on gacha or things he doesn't need off Amazon.
