Today I have... Thread.

Today the small metal pencil sharpener I purchased for $27 from Amazon arrived. It's basically identical to the small metal sharpeners you buy for $3, but unlike $3 sharpeners, it sharpens my expensive colouring pencils to an exquisite point instead of just grinding them into splinters and dust. If you're going to spend any amount of money on coloured pencils, I highly recommend that you also invest in a decent pencil sharpener.

Today, I learned that the packages I sent to Canada at a client's request spent 9 days doing nothing from the time they cleared customs to the time they were eventually shipped to their next destination. It took nearly 2 weeks total for them to arrive to their final location's post office early this morning. Thank goodness nothing being sent was too time-sensitive. *sigh*

They're all shit, and I honestly don't know how some of these kids graduated high school.
It's probably some combination of social promotion and watered-down expectations/grading requirements. As an example of the latter, a teacher friend of mine taught a first year science class one particular year and the requirements for full credit on a lab assignment were ridiculously easy. Despite that, many students got marked down for partial or no credit for the various line items simply because they couldn't follow the simplest of directions.

At the college level, I took a couple of classes where the weekly assignments were as much a lesson in following directions as it was learning the subject material. It was truly eye-opening to learn how many classmates were on the pass-fail borderline all semester because they couldn't or wouldn't pay attention to the directions.

I remember when I took Biology 101 at university, and early on in the semester they sent us away in groups to write assignments, and then told us to grade each other's assignment. The assignment I graded was great... as long as you read it phonetically. Read literally it was nightmare, and I basically had to read the thing aloud so I could hear it and not beat my brain bloody against the unholy mess of homophones fornicating amidst the wholesale suicide of basic grammar. When I handed this girl's assignment back it was basically a sheet of red pen marking the errors and she was utterly shocked and horrified. What I couldn't figure out was how she'd managed to get all the way into university without realising that she was fucking awful at the English language.

Today I went grocery shopping. I tried a vinegar pomegranate fruit drink, and it was delicious. I also tried a mango boba smoothie. That was nice too. It's good to try new things.

Today I made my own teriyaki sauce and teriyaki salmon. Turned out okay. 5989B80C-7BA6-4CFB-B685-AD87E1C1F2E5.jpeg

today i did not expect to try and force a shower gel bottle into a glass cup, break said glass cup and accidentally slice my thumb on the broken glass, get the broken glass out of the shower, then walk all over the house naked (because i was gonna shower ofc) to find the proper supplies to dress my wound, but that is just how today turned out
probably the worst, deepest injury i've gotten that i remember, but that's not saying much cause i haven't had any severe injuries before. it doesn't hurt nearly as much as it looks, it just bled fucking everywhere.

however my cat is very concerned and giving me lots of healing smooches. i love him hes a good doctor

Today I was taking the day off, was in the middle of something and just had a feeling I needed to do a workout. I stopped what I was doing, took off and over four and a half hours later I found out I'm almost back to my peak. Every time I got to a point I was going to quit I would get another feeling just to keep going until this place and that, and then eventually ended up almost matching my top performance. Haven't done that in months. Felt damn good. I'm tired, but I feel damn good. ... Worked off those burritos from last night...

Today I started making another crocheted blanket as a gift for some friends who just moved into their first home together. It’s kind of a habit now, my friends get their own place, or have a kid, they get a blanket. Gonna buy some lilac and yellow wool and make a blanket for the impending baby Fraggle soon.

All that exceptional junk I've ever bought over the years? Both what I've shared with you all and what I haven't over in the autistic purchases thread? It's been packed up and put away.

Don't know what I'm gonna do with it just yet, maybe have a yard sale when the weather warms up, or find someplace to give it all away to. Or he'll might even just put it all on a raft in the bay and send it out to sea.

Ok probably not gonna do that last one but you still get my point don't you?

There was a small fair on today a few suburbs over and I went for a wander down that. It was mostly just a dozen or so tables of random stuff, from the usual jam makers to the a couple booths for the local pollies, and a live band singing songs for the kids. I had a nice chat with a local artist, and there was a little pop up gallery with more local artists' work on display. Aside from the fact that it was fucking hot and everyone had to wear masks, it was a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.

Also, in the past hour a species of teeny tiny orange ant that I have never seen before has made a dramatic appearance, waves and waves of them coming over my window sill, onto my desks, and swarming over my electronics. It's an invasion, and I never saw it coming.

Mate, try living with it packed away for a while and see if you miss it. And chances are... you won't. Maybe a favourite piece here and there you'll want to dig out and keep, but by and large, you will feel free like you never have before.
