He's a coward. An entertaining coward, but a coward nonetheless.

ETA: Kid Rock says hi, Todd.

This is significantly more mature and sensible than any of Todd's political takes.

So far his only comment has been to repost this (on Bluesky):

As a non-American, I had to search online to remind myself who the fuck Merrick Garland is, and came across this on his Wikipedia page:

I choose to believe Todd typed this in a drunken act of petty rage as he unsealed the day's second bottle of whiskey.

Well that was more mature than I thought it would be.

Also, Kid Rock as a TW made little sense because 1. It was his most recent album so there’s no real chance to see if it was qualified because we haven’t seen if Kid Rock was able to rebound, and 2. Kid Rock has never been considered one of the biggest names in music, or even his genre, so it ain’t like his falloff was a big shocking thing.

Hope the extra writing was worth it, Todd.

Todd's still on Twitter lmao

Yeah, true. Well then, how about "I Like That"? From Houston, Chingy, Nate Dogg and I-20. That's Houston's only hit and his career immediately ended because he suffered a breakdown in a London hotel room and actually gouged his eye out with a fork.
3, 16, and 14. Seem like they’re high enough on the charts for Todd to disqualify them.

Those are from Bluesky, which looks exactly like Twitter but with the safety blanket moderators of old Twitter instead of the scary openness (at least a little bit more) of new Xitter.
I'm sure Todd appreciates not having to see tweets with mean words in them, or having context notes plastered onto bullshit claims, but I'm pretty sure the main reason for the switch was Musk's involvement in Trump's election campaign. For people with Todd's politics, Musk is the Goebbels to Trump's Hitler.

People have been moving to BlueSky because of Elon Musk way before the election. It was one of the first big things to come after he bought the platform.

Yes, obviously. As if to illustrate the point, he reposted this:

Which is very funny to me. Instead of having to put up with anyone disagreeing with them on X, they're going to retreat to their special little club where only people who agree with them are allowed in. One of the very worst aspects of social media is that it isolates you within a cultural-political bubble and you never encounter any ideas you don't already agree with, and he actively wants to intensify this problem. If these people had their way there'd be separate platforms entirely for Republicans and Democrats, all because they can't even bear to acknowledge the existence of a dissenting point of view. It's so pathetic.

Nigger. Twitter is infested with Bots, crypto scammers, only fans whores and AI slop. It's basically impossible to use the site nowadays.

Abandoning that cesspool has absolutely nothing to do with not wanting to share the same space with retards you disagree with.

I nuked my account there before Musk came in. It was already that bad and only got worse.

Fine, but I'm not talking about you am I? I'm talking about him. I have no idea why you think anyone cares about your personal relationship with Twitter, or why this is relevant to Todd.

Todd and his cohorts want a hugbox. They don't want debate. much less dissent. Even on the podcast, he's not great at articulating his points in real time, which is why he's fine at repeating scripted lines but not livestreaming. Some people are clever conversationalists; he's good at voice acting and making his talking points against a strawman in his own mind. Same with Hontra, where their videos are the embodiment of l'esprit de l'escalier, making the sassy comebacks later in your head that you failed to make in the heat of the moment.

So on 17 October 2024, Todd opened a Patreon tier with 6 OHW requests available at $1500 each, which sold out that same day (see my earlier post here). It would appear that a couple of those paypigs had buyers remorse, as two of the slots have reopened.

Could also be they suggested songs that weren't OHW and didn't have a back up. Wouldn't be the first time one of his patreons suggested something that didn't fit the criteria.

I believe that’s happened twice: Mmmbop and Lovefool. Only this time, they couldn’t get Todd to budge when he said that the requests didn’t mention his standards to be featured on OHW (if it wasn’t requested by somebody in his circle, it won’t help your case).

Maybe he’ll joke about it in the intro for one of his new videos.

Todd, your opinion is yours, but boo. The new album is actually pretty decent.

Hiiiiii Kenny. Be nice or we'll be in your crosswords too.

ETA: our next requested OHW is released in the middle of the month!
He says "Two requests down, five to go"
I honestly don't wanna watch it -- even though Tarzan Boy is a guilty pleasure song of mine (big shoutout to YTMND.com). Up until around 2021 or so, I was able to separate the art from the artist -- if you can call Todd that -- and just watch his content regardless of his social media faggotry. In every video I've sporadically seen of his post-2021, he injects his gay politics into them too much. I've even tried to rewatch some of his stuff from circa 2017 or so, and I found myself cringing and disagreeing with everything. I've guess I've outgrown him.

Fair enough. There was, however, no political bullshit in the video and it was pretty funny.

Hell, the term "one-hit wonder" in general is already questionable and debatable, with a lot of music snobs arguing what constitutes a band to be classified as such. Some purists go by chart success, in which case they'll argue that regardless of how ubiquitous and financially successful a band is, they're technically a one-hit wonder simply for only having one Top 10 hit song. Because of this absurd argument, The Grateful Dead, Rage Against the Machine, and KISS are classified as one-hit wonders. Retarded, right?

Then you have people like Todd who get autistic and say, "Um, actually [insert artist] wasn't a one-hit wonder: they had a follow-up song that also charted!", such as Hanson, Rick Astley, and Paper Lace. The latter of which, Todd even acknowledged that they were a two-hit wonder in his video about The Night Chicago Died.

For me personally? I define a one-hit wonder as a band/artist who was unknown at first, then caught lightning in a bottle with a popular song (regardless if it charted), then would fail to recapture their initial success – ultimately being regarded as only creating that one song. In that sense, Modern English's Melt With You fits that description to a T – especially considering the song didn't initially chart. I sure as hell also don't consider Chumbawumba's Tubthumping to be in that category, because their follow-up song Amnesia got a fuck-ton of radio and MTV airplay back when I was young.
