Finished the video, quite boring one and I literally never heard any of these songs and most of these artists are unknown to me.

Must be because I am not american, but Jesus even the previous years I at least heard one or two.

@Decoy St. Chum

Can you introduce me one song that summarizes Kendrick supposed genius and what makes him special or different from anyone else?

I am serious about it.

Your not American so you may have a hard time with the American religious music of nigger worship. Most of that niggers songs are just complaining about white people, how much he hates white people, that white people should die for ever thinking a nigger could live up to a decent and productive human able to look after himself, that niggers who rape and murder whites should not be in jail. Its just that kinda shit over and over again, like most nigabo music.

Just move past and it and listen to any other genre of music, its much better.

Oh this explains a lot.

Kevin's lack of co-writing skills are the kiss of death to Todd videos and Dany certainly finds himself amusing, to the detriment of the rest of us. Both are wokescolds. After some reflection on the video itself, I shall list the disappointments thusly:
  • The joyless, flaccid "I am not okay" bumper. Entirely too on the nose and makes the video drag every time.
  • The Charli XCX/Kamala brat black on green lettering. Looks like shit, the album was weak, Kamala lost. Let it go, man.
  • The comment about sex without whips and chains, etc. being boring. Even as one of the seemingly few on here willing to entertain the idea that Todd can get laid despite his physical shortcomings, every reference to his sex life lands with a thud. Please don't.
  • The intermittent state-of-the-world diatribes made it painfully clear that he really had nothing to say that he hadn't already focus tested on Twitter or Bluesky. Co-writers from the same hivemind don't add any unexpected insights or wit.
  • His audience will never care about country. At least he gave a nod to Tipsy as the biggest song of the year.
  • Putting Tom MacDonald/Ben Shapiro and Kanye at the top of the list was as predictable as a sunrise.
  • He can't get any sponsors but his management (Nebula) even on one of his most popular videos of the year, as the Top 10s always are. Either he has no conversion on placements or Nebula can't get any.
Cautiously optimistic for the best list in February?

Not sure what Kanye did to get to #1 besides make trash, but Tom and Ben only at 2 seems like an upset, even if I believe it was said the actual song was hot garbage even according to apolitical types.

Honestly, if “Not Like Us” isn’t #1, then I’d consider that a major upset.

Also, considering Dylan Mulvaney’s “Days of Girlhood” didn’t see the worst list, I started to wonder if Todd will try to sneak it into the best list, even as an honorable mention. If only to see how he justifies the placement .

Todd managed to miss the main point of that stupid Ben Shapiro song because he was too busy whining about politics and complaining about his dad (again). It's a commercial for the Daily Wire as much as the Chevrolet song was or that Fancy Like Applebees song was a few years back. The song is reprehensible for myriad reasons but politics are the least of it, and he missed the opportunity for actual critical appraisal because he couldn't get his head out of his ass long enough to take an objective view. Lazy and boring, pandering to his base.

Dylan is no longer the It tranny, he's been memory holed (but not amholed, lucky for him). Todd could try to force Tim Petras in but he hasn't had any hits either. Best shot for troon representation in the best list is Chappell Roan for her drag but actually female act, she usually has a drag show as an opener at her concerts. She's also got two possible songs that could make the list and had a whole anti-parasocial diatribe that Todd can white knight about, she's a win all around.

Can't imagine what more he'd have to say about Kendrick after multiple videos already. Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, the aforementioned Ms. Roan, SZA, maybe Ariana, probably some country and rap I've never heard to round out the best list. Still think Shaboozey will score high with Tipsy just as a fuck you to getting stiffed by the CMAs.

So his whole thesis is that every talentless Kang mumbling over music written by somebody else is a genius but White people suck unless it's Basic Bitch Becky or Wigger Waylon and—wait for it, this is going to be soooo hilarious—they can't dance? This is just George Carlin, but millennial and delusional enough to think he qualifies as a music critic. Is this yet another case of a White man tragically brainwashed into self-hate by public education?

Nevermind, I understand everything now 🙄 Ethnic boys' impotent envy of White men surfaces yet again...

Looking at that picture, I’m just reminded of Elliot Rodger calling himself King of The Incels. I guess Todd lucked out with the turns in the road of life he made.

Thanks for reminding me about “Hot To Go”. Every year, these lists from Todd and Buckley remind me how little I pay attention to what’s trending. At least I got to learn about a new Green Day album and got to see them in concert this year.

TBH, it’d probably be just some more glazing about how Kendrick dominated the beef with Drake, how “Not Like Us” is more than just a feud winner, and how awesome people will realize how awesome Kendrick Lamar is when he releases new material and performs at the Super Bowl.

IIRC, back when Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” was placed on a best list, Todd talked about how he hoped people would look up Gotye’s other material because it was so good and I think he even something along the lines of Gotye becoming influential. The guy already said Kendrick is gonna go on to win an EGOT for “Not Like Us” (and calling Drake a predator).

Every time he laughed about Drake it bugged me. I'm not even a Drake stan, I actually find his songs boring. It's just like, "Bloody Hell man, we get it, Drake was super-mega-KO-pwned by the K Dot God, fucking move on."

I watched ADoseofBuckley's worst list and uh, I may have been too harsh on Todd. Reactionary smarmy snark with a dash of tranny pandering, not so different from Todd but at least Todd is pleasant to listen to if you ignore what he's saying.

“Too harsh on Todd”, huh? Makes you wonder what’ll end up turning that into “not harsh enough”.

It’s kind of funny seeing how Todd can go from doing something decent if not great…to absolute trash.

Also, yeah, Buckley does come across as a Mister Metokur if you add some shades of “too cool for school”, “everyone is stupid except me”, and “everything is shit. Liking things and having hope and being optimistic is stupid and gay”, along with a pinch of “this sucks and you suck for liking it”.

Still pretty good every once in a while if you ask me.

I actually watched that portion of the video and he even said he didn’t want to talk about the song. The whole thing was just bitching about Tom MacDonald for I guess just being a rage bait peddler and just calling out Ben Shapiro for I guess just trying to make a quick Buck off of anybody who’d actually listen to him. At least A Dose Of Buckley managed to actually talk about the actual lyrics a little bit alongside the novelty of the track.

In terms of Chapelle Roan, I listened to “Hot To Go” and I mostly found it obnoxious with the chorus. If that’s her real big hit, I can’t imagine myself wanting to listen to about her other songs that charted.

As for the best list (if we’re actually making predictions), I still got “Not Like Us” taking top spot of only for Todd glazing it and Kendrick so much. The only other thing I can see on there is “Birds of A Feather” by Billie Eilish because that song slaps. It’s upbeat in a good way.

Honestly, I’m more interested if Todd includes something that’ll make those that aren’t fanboys, ideologues, or in his circle of friends go “what…are you serious? Are you high?”, if only to see how Todd justifies it. Kind of sucks Dylan’s song went down like a lead balloon because that’d be pretty funny.

And even if Todd won’t recognize, I will: Linkin Park’s “From Zero” and Green Day’s “Saviors” were great albums that came out this year with awesome songs. (Who knows? Maybe Saviors could end up disqualifying “Father of All Motherfuckers” from Trainwreckords).

Good Luck Babe is Chappell Roan's highest charting song that took off after her SNL appearance, and is nothing like Hot To Go. Her other big song so far is Pink Pony Club, in which she channels Tori Amos to an eerie extent, especially in the chorus.

Birds of a Feather is fine, inoffensive, but I always think it's a different song (either Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis or Here's Where the Story Ends by the Sundays). I'd also like Todd to throw in an absolute curveball; Murder on the Dancefloor had a renaissance this year and is a great song, and introducing it to the TikTok generation could be the only thing of value from Saltburn.

Listened to Good Luck Babe and Pink Pony Club, and I guess Chappell Roan isn’t for me, though I can understand how she got popular. At least Hot To Go is an outlier it seems.

As for Murder on the Dancefloor, I think Todd will treat it like Kate Bush’s: “Running Up That Hill”: disqualified on the grounds that it’s not from this year.

Would Royel Otis' cover count as a qualifier though?

Dilemma by Green Day could be a contender on the same grounds of alt success.
Man I hope so. The video is pretty good too. I do remember on BlueSky Todd said he was looking forward to the best list more than the worst list.

And one more thing, I listened to that “Carnival” song Todd placed at #1 on the worst list. And it may be me, but I don’t think it’s all that bad. Certainly not #1 bad at the very least.
