Cultural Marxism is about to take another property, this time an Anglo-Saxon mythology, THE Anglo-Saxon mythology to be clear. Bezos is lucky he has a global monopoly otherwise this would probably be another Get Woke Go Broke moment... but having more shekels than God means they can pull Netfuxs routinely, i.e. dumping out woke trash while never being in danger of losing money from the disastrous fallout due to subs for other content.
Well praise be unto God, for as much as they may try to throw mud at Tolkien, his works shall stand forever as golden monuments, untarnished by age. This junk provided by our modern-day Crassus shall wash off with little more than a drop of water.
So I did have to look it up, and basically the new edition has a lot more colour photos of Tolkien's original drawings, as well as some of those never being released before. You can tell with a few because they're literally scribbles with his notes along the side. So, if you got the 50th Anniversary edition you don't need to buy this newest one unless you're that hardcore into collecting the book editions (but even then, one is probably enough).
As for the second, I'm actually unsure. I'm seeing conflicting information about it online, one citing the February 4th release as a Special Edition limited to 5000 Copies in the UK/Canada only. While others say that was waived. I honestly can't tell and since it hasn't been officially released, I suppose I have to wait because it honestly sounds exactly like the edition I have.

The series was never meant to be universally enjoyed and was written with the intention of creating a mythology for the unconscious conscious of the English. Naturally. the globalist cultures of all inclusivity are hissing and screeching at it. It doesn't cater to all and was never intended to.
A good example of this is the association of "black" with "evil." Not all cultures interpret black as an evil colour, but most European and Christian cultures do. There's no way to remedy this for a society that doesn't accept black as a symbol of darkness and evil.
It's not really worth getting upset about, any current iteration of product of rape will have as much in common with the series as capeshit Marvel movies have in common with Norse Mythology.
You know, I had a major hate boner for Chris Tolkien over him suing TSR over using Ents, Hobbits, and Balrogs in DnD. After seeing constant ads for shit mobile games with LotR branding I think I preferred Chris Tolkien being an asshole about it...
White and blonde, don't forget. I have some small measure of hope that the Wheel of Time flopping will mean this show does the same, and we can all just brush it under the rug and move on. It's a fool's hope, but it's all I've got.

Don't forget its side hustle of priming people for conversion to, or deepening their understanding of Catholicism. Something else England needs I suppose lol.

I have found it, it's "Jokes on them, I was just pretending to be retarded" the video. There is no way someone could misunderstand it all this severely. Its got to be a troll.
Since I got a birthday present early, I figured I'd share some images of the new LOTR Special Edition with Tolkien's artwork. Including a blurb about the epilogue that Tolkien wanted to put in that comes on a little card. Because I'd rather get Tolkien as a present than any bitter YA or modern fantasy writer.

It comes in a nice cardboard box that has the map of Middle Earth wrapped around it. When you open it, the slipcover and book is inside. The cardboard falls apart at this point, but it's pretty easy to put back into its box shape.

The eye of Sauron cutout is pretty nice. It's a beautiful book on it's own and it's clear they actually put some money into this edition.
Now to the actual book. It's done up pretty well. Typical Special Edition flairs such as gold edged pages, borders and headers in red, along with a few other details. The pages feel like those from a bible, so very thin and susceptible to bending easily, but still pretty durable.
A comparison between this new Special Edition and the older one which came in a frosted slipcover, with the Gates of Moria as the cover. As well as Tolkien's drawing for the Fellowship of the Ring. There's quite a few of his drawings included. Some which he did on paper, some which he properly painted. They're all beautiful additions to the book and really feels like this is an honest "Special Edition" in comparison to the older one (but of course, more expensive).
Honestly, pretty happy with it. I like it way more than my previous special edition, but I think I'd go through this one less just because I'd like it to stay in a nicer condition. It's probably one of the best birthday presents I've been given. You can really tell the love that Tolkien had for his universe and even Christopher Tolkien's care in the maps he drew is pretty touching.
10/10, hope more Tolkien fans loving beautiful editions of LOTR will make shitty writers weep with jealousy.
I'm torn on the topic of special editions for games and books. On one hand it's touching to see that we can still make nice things in Current Year. On the other it's a form of "consoom overpriced product -> get excited for next overpriced product."
Ngl, I am getting increasingly black pilled about this one. I am first generation English American. This one is going to hurt in a way no other perversion of culture has ever hurt before. My mother was really big on Tolkein and loved how he created a mythology for the English people. I got these stories as a child at the bed side.
I am so glad the Lord of The Rings movies were done so well. But what people don't really understand is LoTR was simply a vehicle for tolkeins real work, which was the legendarium. These stories are sacred to my people and the idea that Bezos is going to pervert them is soul crushing to me.

Interesting posts but what do you mean Tolkien "created English mythology"? The English are an Old World people who have their own land/language/history/culture, why would they need a Washington Irving to come in and help found their mythology?

Just that the mythology he created was meant for a certain audience, and trying to make it more "inclusive" for a global audience is missing the point (at best), because it wasn't really designed for all identities to identify with.
The English have at least a thousand years of myth and history to fall back on, I'm not trying to claim Tolkien is replacing that lol.

A thousand years of fairy stories and folk tales, but not a deep, ancient mythology tied to the land. Old northern european legends tended to be nordic (the Eddas) or germanic (the Nibelungenlied) with even Arthurian tales borrowing from France and Beowulf set in scandinavian countries.
It's common to hear that The Lord of the Rings grew out of Tolkien's legendarium that became the Silmarillion, but that too grew out of The Cottage of Lost Play and the 'Lost Tales'. In those, an anglo-saxon mariner comes to the 'Lonely Isle', Tol Eressëa, and hears the stories of the creation of the world and the ancient ages from an elf, a noldor.
In the modern version of the legendarium, Tol Eressëa is an island off the coast of Aman, the undying lands. The first land to be encountered by anyone sailing to that uttermost west. Like the elves at the beginning of LotR, and eventually Gandalf, Bilbo and Frodo. As Tolkien was building those earliest stories, it switched roles between an original concept, the isle of Avalon, and even the island of Britain itself. Digging through the autistic clutter of trivia in my head, it might even have been towed from its mythical location to where it, as Britain, now lies.
I think by the time of the writing of LotR, perhaps at that point of the development of the Silmarillion stories, the whole thing had maybe taken a different life, regardless of whether Tolkien still thought of it as 'a myth for England'. Maybe that was only a romantic excuse for telling tales with his invented languages, too.

By English he means Anglo Saxon. The only surviving myth is Beowulf. Most other Anglo Saxon mythology is lost to time. Tolkien was interested in creating a new mythology to augment the little that had survived. At least, this is something I have heard several times.

Honestly, you only ever need one Special Edition of something you like, and I'd shop around to see which version is the one for you since there's so many. Especially if you're like me and don't really like those ultra thin "bible page" special editions, like they've done for A Song of Ice and Fire and such. I like a good, nicely bound book that can withstand being taken out of its protective casing over and over and read multiple times.
But when given free reign in what I want for my birthday, the thought of making new authors seethe in anger that I'd rather be given another copy of LOTR than their bullshit fills my heart with a wicked sense of peace.
Eat shit, YA. Tolkien will still outsell you 50 years after his death.
I'm gonna guess she is the GoT stand in and will have an evil brother she needs to stop. I haven't figured out Latisha the Yass Queen Dwarf's role though.
The first one. The Numenoreans will be set up as the colonialist baddies while Galadriel and the Noldor will be the refugees fleeing violence who peacefully assimilate into Middle-Earth.
