Tom Clancy's XDefiant

This literally looks like an asset flip in every way. There's nothing unique or interesting about this game. If you've played a modern FPS, you've already played XDefiant.

if redstorm's working on it at least the guns will sound, look and feel good - but that's probably the only positive.

Calling it an asset flip is flattery. This looks like an HD port of a fucking mobile game.

I think as a coop/survival shooter, the game could have been much more interesting. As a PVP shooter though...idk, I wish someone would have the courage to develop a shooter like Dirty Bomb (but handled better, obviously), but it probably won't happen in the near future. What a shame.

Auts can sperg all they want about how Tom Clancy would put his name on anything all they want. There was a certain style to Tom Clancy media that Ubisoft seemingly has thrown away the past 4 years or so.

I don't even get who this is for? Warzone crowd either hates how goofy CoD has gotten or only enjoy shitty BRB. Fortnite kids like their corporate product skins.

Someone explain it to me cause I guess I'm too old to get it at 32

something this catastrophically uncool can only be pooped out through corporate committee.
At this point if they ever actually do another Splinter Cell they might as well have him fight a giant mech.
metal gear had mechs, superpowers, and poop jokes and it looks like ARMA compared to this.

At this point I'd gladly take Sam Fisher fighting a giant robot mech as long as the damn thing wasn't painted in neon colors and they treated it somewhat seriously. This isn't even a goofy DLC you can skip like the Predator missions in Wildlands, this is straight up what they are pushing as a game.

It's not like I want super hardcore gritty realism out of Tom Clancy shit. I just want a game that takes itself somewhat seriously.

Edit: Now that I think about it, it's really weird how Activision and Ubisoft seem to be trying to create their own kind of GI Joe lately when Hasbro can't get anyone besides 40+ year old manbabies to care about that shit.

Not even that age bracket cares because they keep turning it into "America bad" stuff if I remember right. Plus Cobra Commander - the biggest bad - can't even wear his hood anymore because of racism; I guess a murderous dictator draws the line at racist imagery... good for him.

Kinda reminds me of the weird tone shift Ubisoft decided to take with Tom Clancy. Just, who the fuck are they making this for?

Sigh. I played the original Splinter Cell and the third one (Chaos Theory). I rather enjoyed both, and ironically they were difficult enough that when I played Manhunt I found that game a lot easier.

This crap just makes me happy Clancy's dead and can't see this shit.

The amorphous blob of "mass appeal": some CoD, a dash of Fortnite, some esports, and Twitch integration. Shake well, sprinkle with microtransactions, and serve raw.

I came from the future. The game is basically a Nexon free-to-play FPS that's worse than A.V.A. It's worse due to the fact that the game has even shittier movement, airsoft gunplay, ESG cringe and uncanny valley graphics. It's basically Ubi's attempt at an asset flip, except they're using assets from leftover projects.

Rating: xd/10

There is also no hook to playing as these allegedly beloved Ubi factions who were noting but a stock generic bad guy faction in their own games. Maybe Echelon is the closest but thats just because old millennials are pissed of that they haven't made a good splinter cell game in years. No one looks forward to playing the bad guys from some ghost recon game no one played.

They only really made one bad-ish one, conviction, its a pretty good game but its clear its not fitting for the series to force aggressive play. Blacklist is a mixed bag its poorly balanced in its late game because you can bring too much gear and its movement is pretty awkward but it still has one of the best enemy rosters for a stealth game.

Far too often stealth games design their enemy types in a way that they only matter if you get caught. Blacklist has heavies that can't be attacked head on, masked enemies that are immune to gas effects, dogs that have radial detection that lets them zone in on you but are susceptible to noisemakers, helmeted enemies which require burst damage to headshot, IR-NVG enemies which are weak to flashes but not smokes and can see you in the dark and snipers which lockout large areas and require good use of cover or long range weapons and when you combine these enemy types it creates a lot of need for active strategy in a way most stealth games don't even the original trilogy.

So this is the CoD killer? lol
I've played one match (escort mission), it was so bad. The weapons don't feel right, it's like a mobile game. Most of the game time is wasted on respawning back at the base and running toward the objective only to get killed by someone who was camping at your base.
The chat is also quite censored, you can't even write "LMAO".
