You know what prisons are full off? Folks who want out as soon as possible, and therefore don’t want to add to their charges by beating someone up. No matter how much they deserve it.

He’s not going to go to prison, he’ll go to jail. Likely a low security jail full of small time drug dealers, burglars and the occasional assault enthusiast.

You know why jail doesn’t really prevent crime? Because everyone who’s been in there, isn’t that terrified of going back. It’s boring sure. Long hours of playing cards and watching TV and spending six hours on two hours of floor mopping.

Unless he’s a total retard, nobody is going to “abuse him”, because they’re all in there for a few years and don’t want to turn it into a decade or lose their prison gibs. (And even IF he’s a total retard, that abuse will likely just be a swift slap before the CO’s break them up.)

I get what you're saying, and I do think there's a certain kind of justice in giving a naïve piece of shit like this "hope" that he won't spend the rest of his life in jail, only for that hope to be destroyed once he experiences the physical consequences of his actions.

That being said, 48 months is not a very long time, especially when the nigga is only 18. If he gets out at 22 he realistically is not as fucked as he would have been if he was locked up until 30. At 22 there are plenty of his peers that would be in a similar boat to him of never having had a job, not having a degree or working history, etc, minus the obvious felony, but still. Sadly I can see this nigga locking himself up in PC for 4 years, riding shit out, maybe even getting an early release, and then in 10-15 years getting this expunged from his record and by the time he's 35 he just sees this whole thing as "a short jail bid" he did in his teens-early 20's. Also, as far as I'm aware he's not getting put on the sex offenders registry so IMO people likely aren't going to give him the level of shit he deserves to get for the rest of his life.

On the bright side I do see hope for some additional accountability through civil suits filed by his victims. This fucker caused a lot of pain for a lot of people and I don't see all of those people just fucking off, so I imagine he's going to spend the next god knows how long being sued into financial ruin, so at least there's that.

Three years 149 days thereabouts. Federal good time credit is 54 days per year and there's no early release.

It's more than a year so it's prison. It could conceivably be something called a "jail" but you'd really rather go to prison than any state prison or even jail in California because by and large they're real shitholes full of gangbangers even at the county level.

Jails are not equipped for anything long-term and you get to do absolutely nothing to improve yourself, whereas a federal prison, especially the kind he'd go to, he could probably even continue earning college credits there.

Depending on the prison, the educational options are often even reasonably good in quality.

Absolute miscarriage of justice. 4 years for who knows how many people this retard and the people he inspired could have gotten killed. If he's getting off this easy then he is 100% getting out early, and will go back to doing the same thing again. All because some bleeding heart probably thinks just because he's a kid doesn't mean he should lose his future (he should).

He was in a bunch of discords with people that asked him to swat people or swatted people themselves. All the fantasies posted about him getting niggered or being fucked up for life after 4 years are irrelevant imo, as the most important thing was to ensure he's not swatting anyone any time soon, which the US justice system failed at doing. It would have been better to just lock him up and throw away the key. No computers, no mobile devices, nothing electronic which he could use to swat someone for the rest of his life. Instead it's maybe 2 years of reprieve and then the swatting will resume in full swing. Dude has every reason to be as smug as he acted in his discord and look as smug as he does relatively on his mugshot. He terrorized every right wing podcaster in existence, swatted a congresswoman, and got off with no more than 2 years on good behaviour. And you know he will get that reduction.

How many people can seriously say "I was caught trying to assassinate a sitting politician, but in 24 months time, I'll be back on the street free to attempt more assassinations."

Way too light of a sentence for someone who had a history of over 300 of these incidents under his belt.

He really must have given the authorities some very valuable information to get such a sweet plea deal.

i was convinced that if the feds ever caught someone like torswats who was responsible for swatting they would get the ross ulbricht treatment. i was certain they would want to make a big show of it making him the example. looks like i was wrong. why does it seem that people who deserve lots of prison get light sentences and those who deserve lighter sentencing get the max?

Think about the flip side though. If they have a trial it will cost millions, it will publicly expose the incompetence of all of these police departments and bureaucrats who couldn't deal with a glorified prank caller, it will bring police over-reach into the Overton-Window (for at least a week, lol), it will be a total circus of micro-celebrity bullshit.... When the state inevitably wins, it's reward will be a larger bill for a longer incarceration.

A broke, incompetent government is like a weak and ineffectual parent, they don't really want to punish you... not if it's inconvenient, not if the neighbors can hear it, not if they don't have a room to chuck you in.

Also is there even anyone to rat on? I figured a reason he was so hard to catch was because he was a kid who worked alone, do you need people to set up proxies and voip numbers?

There is no such thing as federal parole for crimes after November 1, 1987, because of the Sentencing Reform Act. Federal sentences are governed by the 85% rule, which means even with good time credit (limited to 15% or 54 days per year), you still serve 85% of the sentence. Period. No early release.

Agreed on the WAY too light a sentence thing. I mean unless he narced on some really evil motherfuckers, worse than he himself, which I doubt, or managed to bust open 764 or some shit. Then I'll revise my opinion, but not until then.
