This is his kitten and I'm surprised by how good they stay anonymous despite the fact they use the same usernames on every platform. Blake said that he would be attending TouhouFest so perhaps someone may capture him on video by mistake. I mean how many red headed Canadian manlets could there be in one place?

Computer, enhance.

I assume it would be very difficult given the language barrier. I am more curious about what the fuck he actually does all day.
Going to friends' livestreams to do fuck all and drink, for one. But I would imagine there wouldn't be anything worth mentioning, even if I knew a cohort who can translate things for us. The man can be weird but we're not so sure on how weird and it is what we'll never know.

Reminds me of another case.

A couple of years after the creation of the current official Touhou community site, an English version was launched. Instead of taking this great opportunity to translate as many articles as they could, the editors almost immediately used it to promote the Touhou Pride Game Jam (archive.ph). Naturally, there's no equivalent article on the Japanese side. Let's look up this Gman8r person credited... Magic, Instant Tranny (archive.ph). Follow the link to discover the secret new second hilariously insane appropriation!

It legitimately makes me MATI that these people have an explicit guideline to not do this shit - as a part of something they take part in by choice and supposedly champion - and then do it anyway. There is something fundamentally, horribly wrong with them, as people, and it follows them wherever they go.

From what I gather, not everyone is even really aware of the guidelines, as there were several cases of some fangames trying to go comercial before doing that was allowed, though I don't remember exact names of those, yet I am sure something like that did happen. And there's also Touhou porn fan-games being put up on Steam, though I guess the guidelines listed in the angry post by the PC emulation guy may also be the outdated ones. It's quite a free for all, huh.

There's also the thing about giving a special thanks to the creators of the libraries in the games' credits with no mention in the code but whatever the motives to do this might be, Spaz lets it be known that ZUN did these hackjob edits before selling these games for a profit originally. No other edits are known at this time.
that whole blogpost made my day just a bit sadder, fuck. i was aware of his not so subtle tracing of alicesoft art, but i didn't know he also purposefully replaced copyright strings with his own to look like some kind of prodigy. he fucking got away with it. people like toby fox became inspired by him and went on to make their own successful series (toby fox in particular afaik has his own interesting "remixing" with a few assets, mainly just sound effects, but not aware of anything to the extent ZUN went) and everyone just raises the drunk japanese man to such a high pedestal.
in reality this is the same guy whose game engine from the windows era days has remained largely unchanged and despite the recent games being Windows 8 and up you do not feel it. the releases feel more like an obligation than anything and it shows with that hacked together VS game. there is no question that touhou fangame makers can massively surpass ZUN, he knows it, he profits from the fact. you'd be doing yourself a disservice to not try out most of the older official entries but you'd be befuddled upon trying out any of the new ones, it reinforces that stereotype of japanese gamedevs being inept with Windows.

kinda a hypocrite and lazy
I can live with it. However, if the music gets worse, we can assume the drinking has finally got him and he will soon Nick Rekeita his family and career.
Apparently, he recently commented on the American 2024 Presidential Election in an omake for the most recent chapter of Lotus Eaters. Some very 🌈 people think it's just him being out of touch with American politics (which I could possibly buy considering the fact he uses that discussion to immediately talk about Japanese elections with a clearly much better grasp on the subject).

You could consider this a failure to abide by his own fanworks rule of not using your work to push an agenda. Oh, the X thing ended with ZUN making a Bluesky account because it was easier.

If I remember correctly, ZUN's X account ended up getting hacked by a crypto scammer.

Oh hey, that Moriya Shrine thread (Ghostarchive) was noticed by some Twitter guys, and I can't see what they did write. OP wrote a reply, and also mentions how he has done further research into Western, Chinese and Japanese Touhou fanbases, yet ain't revealing anything so far. He does mention he's gonna rewrite his OP, and then also replies to what one of the Twitter guys wrote, though I guess there's nothing new as it's basically the same as the things we've brought up on our own in here.

I think he's the one who made "CBT with Yuuka Kazami" and the title was often reposted without context for the funnies.
That's Team Sigyaad, a studio who make glorified PowerPoint slides. While I'm not certain, I suspect this guy is the head of the group.
I am more curious about what the fuck he actually does all day.
He talked about what a few characters smell like on a livestream a while back:

Its now (technically) canon that:
  • Yuuka smells like flowers.
  • Yukari smells like someone that doesn't bathe.
  • Yuugi doesn't smell bad nor good.
  • Rin smells like corpses.
  • All of Chireiden smell bad to varying degrees.
Guess who showed up under the most popular English Xeet about this?

I'm pretty sure the Discord kittens legal name is Hana Perez. Unfortunately, there's a non-zero chance she's illegal (she mentions growing up in Mexico and being from Panama), so the classic people search won't suffice although someone could probably triangulate her via weaponized autism (take the wealth of pics she has and match them to Zillow listings in Arlington, Virginia.)
how did Blake even get following this big? He doesn't seem to be an artist or a music composer. Did he just get so much people congregating around him due to posting funnies and Sakuya simping on Twitter? Oh, and the previous Miku obsessions.
From what I've seen, his contributions are literally just being the mod of a decently sized Discord server with a sizable chunk of users who know little to nothing about Touhou and simply see it as yet another Zoomer hangout. According to the 2020 archives of his account, the Miku obsession got him nowhere in terms of follower count (much to Blake's dismay), presumably due to the Vocaloid community only congregating around people who make music, MMD animations, and fanart.

He talked about what a few characters smell like on a livestream a while back:
Even though the subject is bizarre, I have to respect the attitude here.
What keeps Touhou distinct from all the other gijinka waifushit that's flooded out since is that Touhous never really stop being weird monsters. Much like zoo animals they're just in a comfortable environment where they don't have to care about survival. The series celebrates that natural monstrousness for what it is (usually lightheartedly but not always), rather than fetishizing it or treating it as a gimmick gag with no respect. I can't take ZUN for a total lost cause yet if he's still expressing things like this.

I assume it would be very difficult given the language barrier. I am more curious about what the fuck he actually does all day. I would assume he won't have to work for the rest of his life because Fumos are just a money printer.
Well he's married with kids so presumably that takes up a lot of his time, he's mentioned his wife a couple time but if I remember she used to work at a company that made phone games and now occasionally helps him out with the art. He still puts out bi-yearly releases of Touhou games, not counting sidegames which he has varying levels of involvement with, he composes the music CDs, writes the print works which he has varying levels of involvement with, there's the official Touhou magazine Strange Creators of Outer World, and of course he gets drunk and hangs out with his friends on live stream.
I can live with it. However, if the music gets worse, we can assume the drinking has finally got him and he will soon Nick Rekeita his family and career.
I think that's kind of an extreme conclusion to jump too just based on music hypothetically getting worse combined with him being out of touch with foreign politics. honestly I think he's more likely to die by liver failure then coke out, become a cuck, and drug up his kids. For one thing I think he's just too old to have that much energy in him.

Well, thinking about it, considering the things people nowadays get exposed left and right, ZUN at least ain't involved in any sex scandals. So far...

Reimu is straight, so are all the other girls, cope and seethe trannies who lurk
I recall some mentioning that some of the recent touhous, Sannyo, I think, was canonically lesbian? Or it was some other purple girl from recent games, and it also may be that there were some translation goofs that try to push their agendas. Although I feel like this may have been discussed and disproven before ITT, or was it only about the whole Hisami obsession with Zanmu being intrepreted as romantic? I don't really keep track of whatever's going on in the newer games so far.

It was just that. A similar thing happened with Tenshi and Shion when they showed up in WaHH. Reminder: to these people, there is no such thing as a platonic relationship.
Which is part of a bigger problem I have with shows with a primarly female cast.

I hate that, apprently, strong platonic friendships between women do not exist and that they are all secretly lesbians.

I'm talking about subtext too, writers just will not fucking let it be.

Think that's one thing that really connected with me with Touhou, there is none of that shit.
