For archiving, these are the unpublished versions of the notices for the implementation of additional duties on the products of Mexico and Canada. Details are in the annexes.

In summary for Mexico, all products with the exception of informational materials¹ and donations² are subject 25% ad valorem rate of duty.

Interestingly for Canada, crude oil, natural gas, lease condensates, natural gas liquids, refined petroleum products, uranium, coal, biofuels, geothermal heat, the kinetic movement of flowing water, and critical minerals are subject to 10% ad valorem rate of duty rather than 25% as for other goods. This surprises me as I was nearly certain that the 25% duty would cover energy resources based on previous reporting in the media. I am not sure what to think of this change.

¹ Including but not limited to publications, films, posters, phonograph records, photographs, microfilms, microfiche, tapes, compact disks, CD ROMs, artworks, and news wire feeds.
² Articles such as food, clothing, and medicine, intended to be used to relieve human suffering.

Canadian Finance Minister demands tariffs be removed immediately. Trudeau not willing to lift Canada's retaliatory tariffs if Trump leaves some tariffs on Canada.

“We’re not interested in meeting in the middle and having some reduced tariff. Canada wants the tariffs removed,” Canadian Finance Minister Dominic LeBlanc told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

MFW Canuks mald about tariffs when they tariff the USA

🤭

Trump has paused the recently introduced tariffs on products from Mexico and Canada which fall under the USMCA trade agreement (L). Excerpts from article:
The one-month exemption will lift tariffs for all Canadian and Mexican goods compliant with United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, or USMCA, a free trade agreement.

While Trump only specified on social media posts that Mexico would be spared from the tariffs, White House officials told ABC News the reprieve would apply to Mexico and Canada.

Officials said roughly 50% of imports from Mexico comply with USMCA, and 38% of imports from Canada comply with USMCA. Motor vehicles and auto accessories make up a good portion of the of USMCA-compliant trade, the officials added.
Edit: Note, I am trying to find the original source which has made this claim that is not Trump's Truth Social account or some random journalist. See my next post.

So the exemption is for a month and it only applies to 50% of Mexican goods and 38% of Canadian goods. Interesting.

Additional source with interesting claim that tariffs on Canadian potash (fertilizer) will be lowered from 25% to 10% upon their delayed implementation on April 2nd (L).
Under the orders, goods compliant with the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) will not be subject to tariffs until April 2, at which point Trump has pledged to impose reciprocal tariffs on other nations with duties on American imports.

One of the orders also stipulates that tariffs on Canadian potash, a key ingredient in fertilizer, be lowered from 25 percent to 10 percent.
Edit: It also gives the statement of Commerce secretary Howard Lutnick regarding the delay. This seems to be the original quote referenced in all articles in addition to Trump's Truth Social post.
“USMCA-compliant goods will not have a tariff for the next month, until April 2. That includes autos, and the autos were the lead in getting this done, but also Canada and Mexico have done a good job offering us ever more work to prove to us they’re going to cut the fentanyl deaths,” Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said in a statement.

Canadian retaliatory tariffs against the US will allegedly still be imposed. Note, the article cites a senior Canadian government official under the condition of anonymity which means this may be incorrect (L):
Canada’s initial retaliatory tariffs against the U.S. will remain in place for now despite President Donald Trump postponing 25% tariffs on many imports from Canada for a month, a senior Canadian government official said.

Trump said Thursday that he has postponed 25% tariffs on many goods from Canada and Mexico for a month, amid widespread fears of a broader trade war.

A senior Canadian government official confirmed Canada’s response tariffs will remain for now. The official spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to speak publicly about the matter.
Edit: If the information in the articles I shared above is correct and the situation does not change, then I really have no clue what the point of the tariffs was. This is an incomprehensible mess.

This thread is a nonstop rollercoaster of "It's Happening" and "Nothing Ever Happens"

Fucking called it
Nothing ever happens, Mexico/Canada will come up with some faux concession and Trump will delay every month for the next 4 years.
They didn't even need a faux concession. Trump is a pussy that obvious doesn't want tariffs and is just trying to threaten it for concessions. If Canada or Mexico take him seriously after the 2nd time he did this they are dumb. Trump obviously was expecting this to work by now and severely overestimates his bargaining chips. Americans are have complaining about inflation for 3 years and aren't going to be fucking happy if that get's even worse because Trump thinks Canada/Mexico can destroy all fentanyl with a wave of a magic wand.

Some new
prime minister of ontario Doug ford decide to taxe Ontario hydro electricity 25% more to america. Quebec prime minister François legauts won't do any countertaxe yet saying that trump is already hurting itself..

Poland is introducing a tax on American Big Tech with retaliation being threatened by the US envoy (L). Poking the hornet's nest of tariff wars was a terrible idea as now every shithole in the world is comfortable pre-emptively reacting against the US.

Pardon the double post, but the thread is slow. POTUS is expected to declare a National Emergency on Electricity in response to Ontario's imposition of a 25pc surcharge on electricity exports. Excerpt from the article (L):
Trump already declared a national energy emergency on 20 January, unlocking emergency authorities to fast-track permitting and seek to retain production of baseload power plants. Trump has yet to offer more details on the electricity emergency, but the US Department of Energy (DOE) can issue emergency orders that would allow power plants to run at maximum capacity or waive some environmental regulations. DOE did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
This is possibly quite bad as energy insecurity is generally unfavorable to industry which could impact whatever manufacturing remains in the states of New York, Michigan and Minnesota.
