Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

PulseCon sucked for the most part. Nothing new for Transformers for the final wave of Legacy. New set's name is Age of the Primes.
Sentinel Prime and Overcharge were the only good reveals. Kek at them having to rerelease those hard-to-find Speedia figures; thankfully I already have my Galaxy Shuttle. Also, any word on what's going to replace Legacy?

a wonderful short and then a terrible show.
I don't remember Gridman being terrible. Not something super insanely groundbreaking, but not terrible either. The tie-in stuff after the fact involving the non gridman characters has been pretty meh though/bad in a sense given the whole plot of the series doesn't really line up with the shit they've done pasting those characters into things lmao. Also from what I saw of the english version it was god awful standard modern dub job fo rsome characters. (unnervingly calm character having a super high pitched cutesy voice in dub type shit) In terms of positives though, there's also the whole "transformers character design reference/parallel themes" thing going on in gridman which is really neat. Everyone talked about how characters look like decos of transformers guys visually, but they always somehow miss the screaming in your face g1 megatron nod that's the upper torso and head of the sperg making the monsters. Also the plot ends up being what if a chris chan-esque shut in actually made cwcville real via trapping everyone in a nightmare timeloop with the help of a corrupted space fed? which is the wild shit I'm always up for lmao.
They look aesthetically more pleasing and would be much less expensive than a 3D show
You unintentionally reminded me how back when there still were 2d mecha anime that Transformers energon and cybertron switched from 2d animation to a mix of 2d and 3d to save time and cut costs. It resulted in a kind of cool/unique aesthetic if not for the fact they REALLY rushed some of the 3d animation to the point characters were pretty much T posing at points and the walking didn't line up with the speed of the walking.
You can see both of those in like any compilation of clips from energon.
I'll likely repaint him as Jhiaxus first.
Said it with the deluxe one but he's a lot more starscream-esque than jhiaxus-y. Still nice they're doing a voyager (that hopefully is voyager sized) because it makes more sense for him to be that size. Also noticed his chin's a lot more prominent like the animated sentinel in this figure. Sucks shapeways killed itself after spiking the prices constantly because if they weren't gone we'd have a few good easily obtainable custom seeker heads to pick from that wouldn't be just rough pla or brittle 3d print resin. Guess all you can do now is get some kind of custom resin pour setup but apparently post rona the good quality materials for that are also less readily available for a decent price anymore.

EDIT TO AVOID DOUBLE POST: I managed to get access to the order/shipping info for straxus and cobra commander, Straxus' ship/charge date seems to have shuffled from early october to mid october and now a few days after today, Sep. 16th or so. I fucking hate how preorder shits been the last few years and I hate how much shits one time only exclusives but i've been on that since before corona. It's just gotten WORSE since corona. Cobra Commander says october now but it was previously saying september last time checked before the layout change/required account reset to see your own shipping shit. Some people already got their cobra commanders which makes it even more baffling to me. Also the blue's a lot deeper than what was implied with earlier shots, meaning it's not color matched to the exclusive one I got used that's ALSO based on the animation model from that one scene in the movie. Straxus however going by people that already have it seems to be exact to the stock images though so that's nice.

This is probably gonna be my default G1 Sentinel. Closest we’re gonna get to Sunbow

@The Lawgiver can confirm, mine’s shipping soon.

I just remembered there was a third party one years ago that was based on sunbow and a retool of a third party alicon of all things. I can't find it anymore by looking up third party sentinel prime in image search, but I found there was a cancelled third party sentinel closer to his g1 sunbow look.

Studio was already a good figure, but this is just a step above. Still a bit small though but that's alright. The Elita-1 is also looking nice from that line. I still don't get why they're better than Studio Series figures though. You'd think Studio would get the better figures.

I don't just want the shuttle rerelease, that's theone they keep hyping the re-release of. I want fucking g1 comic/toy colors hot rod. I'm pretty sure actually saw it ONCE in a store despite the claim it never got released and I haven't seen it since anywhere aside from the scalper listings that were a thing for a while that used the stock photos. There's probably some warehouse out there just full of the fucking things.

This figure never fucking showing up anywhere is a direct showcase of the nightmare levels of distribution taking place these last several years. Barely any of the speedia wave 2 figures showed up at US market but this one was just literal fucking air with no reason given for why it wasn't anywhere.
EDIT: looked itup again to see if any word on it is going on, there's some thread out there that claims walmart cancelled it and it won't be produced but it was clearly produced. this stock photo is not a render, but the actual fucking figure meaning it was physically made. This shit pisses me off so fucking much man fuck your $500 scalped astrotrain redeco man I just want my $30 red guy.

That tribute, I’ve watched it a few more times. It really shows that we need a “Crisis on Infinite Cybertrons” type deal. Any excuse to get Cullen, Chalk and Kaye’s Optimus Primes side by side.

Ideally something like “Turtles Forever” that beat Spooderverse to the punch.

It’s an idea that other brands have done to death, IDW was gonna in a last ditch effort but scaled back to “Last Bot Standing” which outside one good page was crap.

I’d been fine if they did Crisis 1:1 and the only guy who’s the last man standing is OG Sunbow Prime.

Next two Missing link figures. Sunstreaker and Arcee

Oh shit, they're finally releasing g1 Arcee as a missing link release? That's one of the more infamous weird looking and cancelled figures, seen a bunch of attempts at figuring out how it would transform and third party 3d print attempts at making it real. They'd probably never do a Unicron with the pricing for these things but it'd be neat if they did. better be orange like the g1 figure was gonna be lmao.

Saw the new movie, liked the new movie. Amazing how every cringe thing in the trailer(s) was softened in full context.

Also appreciated after doing the "pull away at the last second" trick with all the violence, the last act was just FUCK IT and there were a few lovely bits of body horror.

I'm going to one of my local fan events on Wednesday so hearing positive early reviews makes me glad I spent the money for the goodies and early screening.

Newage is starting to make CHUG scaled figures apparently with Megatron being the first one they showed off.

Youtube people keep framing this as studio series megatron being revealed bt then bait and switching it into newage. I'd have bought some newage stuff if the price didn't drastically spike to the point you're now paying $100 or nearly $100 for a fucking legends scale figure they were originally selling for like $40 but if this isn't super insano price I think this is a generally solid third party megatron. Haven't really seen good ones of this scale since Hegemon (which I got used a few years back) and rioter despotron (which was 60 and I missed it and then scalped for high prices ever since STILL MAD ABOUT THAT).
EDIT: it's shorter than studio series 86 prime, but that figure's oversized and I don't have that so as long as it's in scale with other primes it's pretty much perfect.
EDIT: apparently some people have it already (probably promo/review copies) and there's stop motions made with it as a result.
EDITx2: it also apperently sold out instantly in everywhere that had it up for preorder. So uhhh more scalper fodder again I guess

Transformers One is the best modern Transformers movie hands down. Great story, great animation, great character arcs. Cooley really leaned into the Greek tragedy angle with the foregone conclusion of Pax and D-16's future. Watching D-16 slowly go down his path of darkness becoming Megatron was the best part of the movie, I was worried that Brian Tyree Henry was a poor fit for Megatron, but he knocked it out of the park. Lots of fun cameo's and easter eggs for TF fans, Pax's workmates are all the 84-85 crew, and Jazz has a nice little role. My only complaint was Brian Tyler's music was just 'ok', but to be fair, Vince DiCola, Stan Bush, Kick Ax and Weird Al are tough acts to follow.

Since this was a fun, action packed sci-fi fantasy film that doesn't shove DEI down the audiences throat, IGN didn't like it.

Newage Studio Series scale Romulas (Megatron)
Well it's not perfect but damn close and still turns into a gun with no potential tank kibble. I could probably print off some lifts for him

Last night I was gonna get around to ordering some of those megatron yolopark movie kits only for the listings to be gone and the only listings online being ones that want 20-50 for the small ones and the only listing still up on amazon being elita who is now inexplicably 40 dollars shipped by amazon and sold by yolopark. I have no clue what the fuck is going on here but it angers me a little.

SS86 prime is grossly out of scale with everything else the last 8 years, and going by what's been said about it I feel ss86 megatron is going to do that thing where it's just a heavily modded siege megatron but less shit than the earthrise figure's revisions. So basically still out of scale/shorter than prime but probably worse than this. Unless they extend his legs or some shit.

Studio Trigger's Transformers 40th Anniversary Special short is out.
I never thought I would get teary eyed seeing the Armada kids...
Amazing. If we could get Studio TRIGGER to animate the next series then that would be great. Don't know who would do writing duties though.

Thank god the film's gonna be good. It seems like every piece of info thats coming out is proving the film will turn out well.
