Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

the trailer for transformers one dropped and all i can say is... oof man.
https://youtu.be/0rmJXXKDrsM?si=veGNU9iR0UQAY2-k
Showed a little bit of ok promise as standard modern hollywood obnoxious as it was but then it whipped out the "oh take these things that all look like the matrix now you can transform!" and "we were given these powers for a reason!" The entire fucking point of cybertronians in transformers is it's just a thing they can do and use for ther jobs. Why keep the pre-war names for optimus and megatron if we don't actually see them develop and it just becomes a "oopsie I donno how to transform!" thing?"
It's like they tried applying capeshit hero origin stuff to the fucking start of a god damn WAR that literally wrecks the planet. Could have worked to an extent for a comedy movie but if it's anything like the trailer there will be issues.
Also speaking of Disney owned shit I'm guessing the reason elita is the post war one instead of ariel is because Disney mermaid movie concerns or something?

Christ it's worse than I imagined. Looks like it leads into the current cartoon that's out.

In G1 they had to learn to transform so they probably got that bit from that. Typical Megatron and Optimus being friends comes from IDW crap. Should have kept them as miner and office worker though

This looks fucking terrible. Expect the usual suspects to be shilling the shit out of a terrible kids movie that treats adult fans of the franchise like literal children. I've already been hit with the "it's just a kids movie" excuse, and I'm just laughing at these fucking idiots consooming it just because it's content.

At least D-16 is voiced by a black man. Is it based that a black man becomes a homicidal maniac hellbent on conquest? Or will Megatron later be voiced by a white man? Like I didn't think I'd see racism in a Transformers movie when Cybertron was just known to hate it's caste system.

The horrible thing about it is that given Bumblebee's particular line, it's not necessarily a kids' movie. It's designed to get children to enjoy adult things and adults to enjoy childish things, which is a literal pedo agenda -- but I doubt that would be a problem considering who comprises a significant part of Transformers' fanbase nowadays.

What the fuck is that supposed to be?

I'm getting cybertronian train vibes with that altmode. Quite hollow but I maybe wrong about the lack of being able to use it as a custom. I could see a few bots being recoloured for this. Like an Ironworks that doesn't turn into a building. Still a rather easy transformation though

Looks a lot more like one of the IDW designs than it does the one shown off in the movie trailer.

There are reports from scalpers that that Optimus Prime is starting to yellow apparently. I guess they didn't bother mixing in the additives into it.

Odd how the kids version looks more like the onscreen model than Studio Series. Still looks like a train to me.

Going by the stock photos and stuff I've seen online that optimus is that weird "pre-yellowed" color they used on the leader titans return Optimus, and seem to be using on stuff like the squeeze play remake, unless they mean like the blue and red parts.

Squeezeplay is more green than anything. Close to pastel. Shoulders are close to an odd kaki sand colour, almost like Destrius colours.

If you look at the severely yellowed copies of the original squeezeplay, they look like that specific greenish tan color. The yellowed color on the studio series Optimus looks like the kind of weird mild yellowing emulation that the Titan's return one was clearly copying.

I like the axe effect on this one better, though kinda wish it was made of some kinda frosty or shiny plastic rather than a solid matte one. This design looks not only similar to the onscreen model, it kinda looks better than the movie aesthetically. kinda sad it seems we're returning to the ankle tilts not being standard on the "mainline non-gimmick movie tie in" stuff, though.

Every Squeezeplay I have ever seen both online and in the wild has had nice clean grey plastic in the proper lighting, it's the same grey plastic as Siren. Only issues the figure has had is the screws rusting and that's an easy fix.

I've seen one or 2 that are severely yellowed, I'm guessing they used one of those as a reference for the colors on this new one.

I'm not really a big transformers guy but I was looking forward to this movie and this looks fucking terrible. I thought the whole impetus for this was doing the one good part of the bumblebee movie (the first 10 minutes) for 2 hours but animated so the budget wasn't an issue? the designs are horrible, and the tone of this trailer is exactly the opposite of what I hoped for. I don't know dick about transformers lore but there's no fucking way they get transforming powers like a lame magical girl anime. shouldn't they just be robots who transform for practical purposes?

what the fuck is wrong with these retards who make these things? Isn't all the transformers fans have asked for since 2008 is basically do the cartoon or the comic books but take it seriously? why don't they just do that. It doesn't have to be a shitty marvel movie, if there's cool robot shit kids will like it you don't have to treat the audience like dumbfucks.
