Stardew Valley players have been targeted with doxxing and abuse for asking the game’s developer to add pronouns.

In October, fans began requesting that developer Eric Barone – aka ConcernedApe – add pronouns to the farm-life sim game, as a way to better represent non-binary players.

A petition was created by fan Atmos Fierce, which has garnered more than 8,600 signatures.

However, the call has resulted in abuse from anti-LGBTQ+ fans of the game, who have targeted streamers and members of the community by either purposefully misgendering them, sending abuse, or doxxing them.

Doxxing refers to the act of sharing private information such as a home address, phone number, or other identifiable details, publicly on the internet.

Transgender streamers appear to be the main target of the abuse, with some users telling them to “be careful” playing Stardew Valley while the controversy continues to rumble on.

Barone’s silence has been “deafening”, one person claimed.

“Transphobes are doxxing and harassing members of your Stardew Valley community simply because they are advocating for a pronoun update,” the user wrote. “It is extremely important for you to speak up for them.”

The lack of response has led some to suggest a boycott of the game until either a statement is made or pronouns are added to the game.

“I truly do not care if ConcernedApe speaks on pronouns in the game any more,” one user said. “I want [him] to condemn the transphobia and violence against the trans members of the community.”

An affiliate for the streaming site, Twitch, said they would not be playing the game any longer because of Barone’s lack of response.

“It does not feel right for me to continue streaming or playing Stardew Valley,” they wrote. “It truly breaks my heart to see the amount of people getting hurt.”

PinkNews has contacted Eric Barone for a comment.

We would all like a hucow hag wife
Listen pal, maybe some of us want a milf with ranch experience on the farm rather than a hippie, a wallflower, an autistic darkie, sloppy seconds starving artist, vapid blond, or a rock-eating dangerhair,

You’re welcome to any of those, I just wanna milk my wife and cuck Lewis.

The real crime is that Marnie, after all these years, is still not romanceable.
Marnie looks so young and cute in her winter outfit. CA adding that but not the ability to romance her is fucked up.

Thinking about dating Leah on this try but I'm holding out that maybe a new romance option was added with 1.6... probably not though.
Still haven't figured out how to get ostriches either.

Btw even for kiwis who think this game is too gay or pozzed or whatever, at least give the soundtrack a listen. It's really, really good. The mines songs are my favorite.

There is one mod thst allows you to romance Marnie. But is buggy, pretty broken (two Marnies) and has some really really awful dialogue.

I also hate how her side profile sprite looks ingame. Makes her look like an overweight opera singer with two chins.

Going briefly off topic: You get the incubator recipe by finishing the field office tent on Ginger Island (both the fossils and the survey questions), and you can find one egg outside the volcano (a journal page will tell you where) or more inside the volcano from the occasional treasure chest.

My friends play this game. But I couldn't bear even an hour of SNES Harvest Moon without going into a coma. So I never bothered to try this one.

The dev is wise to stay out of this. Let the xe/xirs mod pronouns. You don't need over 9000 pronouns in a farming sim. And that's what it would end up being. No amount will ever be enough because you forgot to add halogen lampself or something retarded like that and now every genderblob is mad at you and making monetized videos about it.

People here were saying this game was full of women, so it was all trannies then?
No, it's mostly real women, even the modders. Women love writing dialogue and making pixel art once they've been given instructions on how to put it into the game. Others are so terminally female they take phone photos of PC screens.

This is what the average queer who signed that petition looks like.

No fuckin way she’s got a lazy eye! Get that shit fixed…..
I know I'm late to the party, but Jesus Christ. Lazy eye can be corrected (it's still noticeable if you look closely) pretty easily without surgery. The fact that her parents didn't get that addressed is just cruel. It's not fun having to wear an eyepatch all the time. They're not fun to take off, either, but it's temporary and 100% worth it.

eta: I was wrong. Surgery is involved. I was really young when I had mine addressed and only remember the eyepatches. It's possible I got the surgery because the eyepatches weren't working. All that is to say that her parents were cruel bastards for not getting that fixed ages ago.

The things some people get upset about. lol
The dev has no responsibility to respond to random internet claims and hearsay.. especially from a bunch of crybullies in the middle of trying to force he devs to do what they want. I love watching them squirm, kick and screech at not being instantly babied.

The timing of this is questionable at best. This is the favorite tactic of SJ bullies. Every one of their voices is being attacked at all times so you better give into their demands and get political! Even in the WORST case.. This is merely a case of the "wrong targets" to these people.. not the wrong tactic. This is THEIR tactic.

People need to seriously fuck off with the abuse of terms like "violence, harm and danger".

Nice to see the sex pest site complaining about "harm" to others. lol

You might like Stardew Valley. I also played SNES Harvest Moon (as well as a PS2 one that I can't remember well) but there is a zippiness to Stardew Valley that keeps the minigames from feeling like too much of a slog even when your character isn't fully upgraded. While I haven't played every farming simulator, this is the best one I've tried so far.

Stardew Valley is more like Harvest Moon DS mixed with Rune Factory 3 or 4 than the earlier Harvest Moons. I grew up on Harvest Moon DS, so Stardew Valley didn't feel any different. Except my waifu Nami wasn't in there and I couldn't marry a goddess. There also weren't a million weird bugs that made me unable to leave my house.

Do not recommend Harvest Moon DS unless you play the Cute version. Vanilla version is buggy as fuck and not in the funny Bugthesda way.
