funny thing about that, locally the reservation women talk about how it's cops, white cops, that kill them. the idea is that they know that there's a boondoggle of jurisdiction and paperwork preventing any kind of investigation, and take advantage of it.

I don't doubt it's true in some cases. there's a solid handful of local cases of missing and murdered women from the rez, I don't see the true crime hags talking about them though.
Reason why indian women and other non white women arent covered like white women is because the vast majority of the time the murderer is a non white man.

Youtuber Zav Girl decided to paywall autopsy photos of 11-year-old murder victim
(on a right picture of Gannon Stauch)
A true-crime influencer on YouTube is apologizing after selling access to autopsy photos of 11-year-old Gannon Stauch, a Colorado Springs boy murdered by his stepmother three years ago.

The poster, who goes by Zav Girl, has received intense backlash online after publishing the photos of Stauch in a video on her now-defunct Patreon page, which allows creators to charge money for content.

The woman received the photos through an open records request with the Colorado Judicial Department, an agency spokesperson confirmed Friday.

Autopsy photos normally are not releasable under Colorado’s open records laws, but the photos of the murdered boy became public record after they were introduced as exhibits during the May trial of his stepmother.

Zav Girl, who has nearly 88,000 YouTube subscribers, apologized to Stauch’s family in a video posted Thursday, saying she’s been doing “major soul-searching and reflecting.” She said she put the video with the trial evidence behind a paywall, thinking it wouldn’t be made public. The photos, she explained, already had been seen during trial and weren’t new.

“To Gannon’s family, I have no words that can make this better,” the social media influencer said. “No one should have to go through what you guys went through.”

Gannon Stauch went missing in January 2020 and his disappearance became national news. His stepmother, Laticia Stauch, was arrested and charged with murder in March of that year, days before a construction crew found Gannon’s body in Florida.

An El Paso County jury in May found the stepmother guilty of first-degree murder, among other charges. She was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The murder case spawned a host of documentaries, podcasts and YouTube videos.

I have mixed feelings on this since every serious TC Youtuber requested those records and gleefully covered Gannon's hard death and autopsy, often in multi-part video series. They love talking about all the wounds on his body and how long it took him to die. What Zav Girl did was dumb but they all used those photos to make money, in a way.

This incident is once again bringing to the forefront the larger question surrounding true crime regarding what is acceptable within the genre. It's profiting over death and misery and it's not even abstracted like it is in so many other places. Society and individuals have their own boundaries as to what is acceptable and what is not. I enjoy true crime, but personally don't consume much of it as I've gotten older. I find most youtube content especially low effort and exploitative. I can read news and wikipedia articles with copyright free music in the background myself.

The example I like to use of content I do enjoy and what true crime could be is MysteriousWV. Sean creates videos about unsolved crimes in his home state of West Virginia rather than making the 7,523rd video on BTK or the Yuma County 5 that say nothing we don't already know. He does original research, creates his own graphics, and very often travels to the places where the crimes take place. Over the years he has garnered enough of a niche following that he began to produce content with the assistance of local and state law enforcement agencies in order to bring cold cases back into the public eye. Families began co-operating as well when they saw the dignity and respect with which he treated the stories of their loved ones. Then he began to get asked by families and law enforcement to tell specific stories in the hope someone will a video of his and say something. As I recall there has been at least one case where a breakthrough was made based on information received after he produced a video on the case.

Sean isn't trying to be an e-celeb. He doesn't pretend to flashy or chase trends. While his production is clean and professional, you just know he's doing it all himself. The graphics usually look like something you'd see on public access in late 90s or early 2000s. There is nostalgia for me in that it feels like passion projects you'd see on the old internet. He's an middle-aged guy who still dresses like it's the 90s and is doing something he believes in. Everything about him strikes me as extremely genuine. No algorithm, no discord writers room, no content manager; just a guy who wants to tell stories of people who can no longer tell it themselves.

I'd consume a lot more true crime if there were more Sean McCrakens.

There's at least one (I don't remember which one, they kind of all blur together in my mind) that covered several cases like that.

The thing is, not to victim blame (actually, I don't really care), but a lot of the cases were like "She was a talented, beautiful, cheerful girl who was a pillar of the community and everyone loved her; that night, she got drunk and high/was on the way to get drunk and high, and was last seen hitchhiking on the highway, alone, and getting into a stranger's car". Of course the killer is the one to blame but at some point you gotta take some responsibility for your own safety, and maybe notice the fucking pattern.

I have the opposite problem as a lot of you guys, I feel that in many cases the killer is demonized and the victim is made to look like a saint especially if it's a man killing his girlfriend or wife he'll always be painted as abusive and unhinged rather than justified or acting in a moment of irrationality. Some people are too quick to value every life even when it's someone we'd be better off without or what was done to push him to that point. Granted those tend to be much lower profile examples I'm talking about. Not all victims deserve sympathy, some deserve scorn and some got off too easy. I think punishment should be proportional to the value of the victim.

In a case like that I'd say it should basically just be a slap on the wrist for punishment, especially if it could be argued that the motive was being overcome with rage and disgust at her behavior. Shitbags like that are ones I don't give a damn about.

Also how easy would it be to gain traction doing this kind of shit on youtube? Has the market achieved saturation?

You think that violent rape and murder is an understandable response to a young girl being trusting and naive? Or that getting so angry that you impulsively murder the person that you're supposed to love is normal and should be sympathised with?

Good to know. If you ever cut me off in traffic, I'll follow you home, slit your kids' throats, rape your wife while you watch, and then tie you up and leave you there while I set the whole place on fire. Seems reasonable.

But no, seriously, the rape and murder of hitchhikers and other vulnerable people doesn't happen because the rapist is 'disgusted by their behaviour'. It happens because the rapist is a predator who is looking for easy marks. He absolutely wishes that he can prey on anyone he wants, but he's not going to because he doesn't want to get caught and sent to jail. If you actually read the biographies of pretty much any professional predator, they generally start their careers on their younger sisters and children in their neighbourhood. There is no divine or higher purpose. They're just monsters getting their rocks off. Certainly a pathological hatred of their preferred sex is often involved, but they target whoever is an easy mark, and escalate as the resulting thrill gets less and less.

There are plenty of examples of men killing their wives for cheating on them or seeking a divorce that would leave the man financially devastated and I'd argue those examples are somewhat justifiable as the woman was the first to act by betraying what was meant to be a life long bond, not long ago we had the death penalty for such behaviors.

>But no, seriously, the rape and murder of hitchhikers and other vulnerable people doesn't happen because the rapist is 'disgusted by their behaviour'. It happens because the rapist is a predator who is looking for easy marks.

The reasoning matters less than the effect. If we have some murders who end up getting a slap on the wrist for killing some drunk hitchhiker and then blamed his actions on the victims unsuitable moral character that would send a message to the masses which would promote positive behavior, if it's all lip service or not you'd end up with people being more cautious.

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to follow him home, slash his kids' bicycles' tires, rape his car while he watches, then tie him up and cover him with leaflets about electric vehicles?

Seeing as you're going for an automotive theme in this already-gargantuan leap of logic you're making...

You honestly think that if no woman walks alone at any time, is covered modestly from scalp to foot in a sheet, never dates, never has sex before marriage, these monsters will never rape and murder again? No. Absolutely not. When you start digging into societies where women actually do all these things, like, for example, Islam, and the amount of observant and hitherto obediant girls and women who report being assaulted by relatives or friends of relatives in their own home is absolutely horrific.

Monsters use mongs like yourself- "It's her own fault she had to walk home! It's her fault she wore such a short skirt! It's her own fault she went on that date! It's her fault she slept with her window open!" in order to continue being predators. If they can't get access to easy victims, they don't stay at home and read their bibles. They just get bolder and take more risks, and vent their spleen on their wives and daughters.

These predators are sick fucks who will take any victim that they can get away with, whether it's the lowliest town prostitute or a twelve year old girl who's walking the three blocks home from Catholic school in broad daylight at 3pm on a weekday.

And yes, there are some men who have killed their wives after they caught their wife in bed with another man. The vast majority of wife killers, however, just got progressively more unhinged and violent until eventually one night they go too far, and their wife dies of head injuries and a ruptured liver. Did she deserve it for making eye contact? You tell me.

While I'll say that yeah, all these videos tend to portray the victims as these immaculate beings of light, when actually they were people, with people flaws like anyone else, what the fuck are you talking "justified murder"? If it's not directly self-defense, in what possible situation would it be justified? Not even your example of life-ruining divorces make murder justified you colossal wanker

All I was saying is people shouldn't make themselves vulnerable, especially in an environment where that tends to get them killed. That doesn't make it any less of a crime or less of the fault of the perpetrator when they take advantage of said vulnerability.

Fucking "slap on the wrist" for an opportunistic rapist murderer, you utter retard

I admit I may have gone a little bit far in my ramblings and have walked back on some of it.

I'd personally say that if a parent goes after an individual who raped and/or murdered their kid, it's not murder, it's sanitation of a public health hazard. Way too many people who get their rocks off hurting children find ways of wiggling out of charges, and continue with what they were doing. However, I've been told by multiple individuals over the years that my views on this are unacceptably extreme so I guess it's a case of ymmv.

Unfortunately, kids are statistically most likely to be murdered by a parent.

Kids being killed by strangers especially is actually pretty rare. That's why it gets so much attention when it does happen.

I wish there were more cases of parents killing people who raped/murdered their kid than cases of parents raping/murdering their kids themselves :(

I don't watch the true crime shows because I view it as exploitative, but I LOVE court videos. I feel like that's the proper venue to cover, rather than lingering on the crime scene photos like all the crime shows on network televison, or the creeptubers.

I also utterly despise the fuckers who pause the trial to drop hot commentary nobody wants. Just let the trial play and shut the fuck up.

I've noticed a lot of bitching in police interrogation videos lately where the tuber will whine about being demonitized, and other tubers will openly mock them.

Also holy shit woggle, are you seriously claiming murder is preferable to divorce?
