Crime TV reporter smacked on bottom during live broadcast: ‘You violated, objectified and embarrassed me’

Authorities promise to take action against runner after WSAV New’s Alex Bozarjian assaulted while covering road race in Georgia
A TV reporter said she was left “violated” and “embarrassed” after being smacked on the bottom during a live broadcast.

Alex Bozarjian, of WSAV News, was reporting roadside from a 10km race in Savannah, Georgia, when a male participant ran up behind and struck her.

Ms Bozarjian appeared visibly shocked in footage of the incident as streams of runners continued to pass her on Savannah Bridge.

She later condemned the runner, saying: “To the man who smacked my butt on live TV this morning: you violated, objectified, and embarrassed me.

“No woman should EVER have to put up with this at work or anywhere! Do better.”

Fellow reporters showed their support for Ms Bozarjian’s statement on Twitter, while criticising the man responsible.

“I’m so heated for you,” Emily Bloch of the Florida Times said. “This is disgusting. Sending strength and solidarity your way. Now, let’s get this grimy dude and warn the women in his life.”

ABC News 13’s Caitlyn Penter wrote: “DO NOT TOUCH REPORTERS. Period.”

Ms Bozarjian was covering the annual Savannah Bridge Run on Saturday when the incident happened.

Robert Wells, director of the Savannah sports council, promised to find the runner and take action.

“Alex, what happened today is 100 per cent unacceptable,” Mr Wells said. “You have my assurance we will identify him.

“This will not be tolerated at our events. Glad we have race bibs and photos for easy identification.”

Isn't his story that he meant to hit her back, as in a friendly "pat on the back"? I don't believe it for one minute, but that seems to be his angle. Both sides were wrong, the lessons to be learned here are "don't slap a stranger on the ass randomly" and "don't be a crybaby bitch when stupid shit happens to you".

I don't know what is wrong with a (minority) number of posters here. They seem to think she should giggle and say "I don't mind".
But if she does giggle and say "I don't mind" then she's a dirty roastie whore and proof women should get back in the kitchen

(although I agree with your post your post/username synergy made me chuckle)

I've been slapped on the ass by ladies before told I got a great butt. And I am into that shit. But like dude not everyone is cool with being touched, Learned that shit in highschool it's cool for the girls to grab my ass but I grab theirs back im a peeve. Don't mean im on this shithead side btw. Fuck him probably diddles little boys as a scout master too.

Runner apologizes for slapping reporter’s rear on live TV
A Georgia man has apologized on-camera for slapping a female reporter’s rear on live TV after the video clip garnered outrage among millions who viewed it online and prompted police to investigate the case as a possible sexual battery.

WSAV-TV reporter Alex Bozarjian was doing a live broadcast from a road race Saturday in Savannah when one of the passing runners swatted her from behind. The video shows the stunned woman stop talking for a moment and stare as if shocked.

“You violated, objectified, and embarrassed me,” Bozarjian said on Twitter. “No woman should EVER have to put up with this at work or anywhere!! Do better.”

She told police the man slapped and then grabbed her buttocks. The police report said she told an officer she wants to pursue criminal charges.

Thomas Callaway of Statesboro soon stepped forward as the man who slapped Bozarjian. He went to the TV station to give an on-camera apology the station aired Tuesday evening.

“It was an awful act and an awful mistake,” Callaway said.

He also said he was trying to pat Bozarjian on the back or shoulder and didn’t realize until seeing the video that he touched her buttocks.

A video clip of Callaway swatting Bozarjian during her live report had been viewed more than 11 million times on Twitter as of Wednesday.

Savannah police spokeswoman Bianca Johnson said Wednesday the case has been assigned to a detective. No charges have been filed.

Nice accident. Still assault.

Edit: Oh, and as an added bonus, apparently the guy is a youth pastor.

Would if have been so bad if he was wearing a solid gold rolex?

Probably worse. Who wears a Rolex on a run?

Also:

Sexual Battery in Georgia
A person in Georgia commits the crime of sexual battery by making physical contact with the intimate part (genitals, buttocks, or a woman’s breasts) of another person’s body without the consent of the other person.

Sexual battery is punished more severely if the victim is under 16 years old or if the defendant has previously been convicted of sexual battery.

(Ga. Code Ann. § 16-6-22.1.)

Guy's dumb but this should've been settled on camera by her calling him the fuck out or grabbing him by the collar.

Settle shit instantly instead of dragging it out with theatrics.

It was going to be dragged out regardless of what she did since the idiot did it in live TV. The moment that happened, he was in for it.

You know his life didn't have to be ruined.
I agree his life shouldnt be ruined and going on a witch hunt and "warning women and everyone in his life" about how this joke among guy friends is the comparable to actual rape or some shit, but you have to be a complete idiot to think this was okay.

You learn not to treat people like that in like elementary school, and why not to by at least 4th or 5th grade, and learn consequences and shit--especially unannounced to a woman, who is standing in front of a camera.

I mean even among friends it's like a kind of a best-friends-only, immature, "Hey good game, Thanks coach" joke youve been making since like middle school 20 years ago.

Runner accused of groping reporter during live TV broadcast charged with sexual battery

WSAV reporter Alex Bozarjian had asked Georgia police to pursue charges against the man who groped and slapped her in the incident, which went viral on social media.

Dec. 14, 2019, 3:19 AM EST / Updated Dec. 14, 2019, 4:33 AM EST

By Phil Helsel

A runner accused of slapping and grabbing the backside of a female reporter during a race in Georgia last weekend was arrested Friday on a misdemeanor charge of sexual battery.

Thomas Callaway, 43, was arrested after turning himself in, Savannah police confirmed to NBC News Saturday. He was released on $1,300 bail.

Online jail records show that he was charged with sexual battery, a misdemeanor in Georgia that is punishable by up to a year in jail.

His attorney declined to comment to the Associated Press.

The Dec. 7 incident, which went viral on social media, happened while WSAV reporter Alex Bozarjian was in the middle of a livebroadcast as runners taking part in the Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run streamed past.

The charge comes days after Bozarjian filed a sexual battery report with the Savannah Police Department, saying that she wanted them to pursue charges against the man who groped and slapped her.

She told police that he slapped and grabbed her buttocks in one motion as he ran past on the Talmadge Bridge, according to the complaint.

Bozarjian tweeted her outrage about the incident later that day, writing “No woman should EVER have to put up with this at work or anywhere!!”

That statement as of early Saturday had been retweeted more than 200,000 times and had more than 735,000 "likes."

Callaway has been banned from all future races by the Savannah Sports Council, which sponsored the run.

Callaway has told WSAV that he is sorry.

He said that "it was an awful act, it was an awful mistake," and he apologized to Bozarjian as well as her family, friends and co-workers.

He claimed to WSAV that as he approached he saw people passing the reporter waving hands and planned on doing the same, and that he knew he had touched her but did not know where as he ran past. He also said he had wanted to tap her on the shoulder or the back.

The video appears to show no attempt to try and wave.
"I feel awful, I feel embarrassed and ashamed," he said in the interview with the station after the incident. He apologized to Bozarjian and said "this was not right."

Bozarjian's attorney, Gloria Allred, told WSAV in an email Friday that "Alex is looking forward to justice in this case."

The station has condemned the conduct as "reprehensible and completely unacceptable” and that “No one should ever be disrespected in this manner." The station said Bozarjian has its full support.

That's a lot of verbs for just getting smacked on the ass. Literally nobody cares, get over it, whore.

It's literally battery to inflict even the most minor of unwanted physical contact on someone. Only the weakest of people actually fucking care, though.

Also anyone who involves Gloria Allred in anything just needs a good hard dicking to straighten her out.

How long before people dig for old tweets of that reporter Alex Bozarjian to see if she's white as snow?
Oh, she's definately Armenian, not white.
