Ubisoft Sellout - Bankruptcy Speedrun Any% Thread

Previously we reported on Ubisoft, alongside Riot Games, launching an initiative to combat “toxicity” in online games.

To continue on with their goals, Ubisoft have now also partnered with police in Northumbria, located in the United Kingdom, on improving response time for police to intervene (via BBC).

“We want to be on the right side of history,” says Damien Glorieux, senior director for their Customer Relationship Center based in Newcastle.

Through the offices there and elsewhere in the world, they work on monitoring players with issues that range from issues with payments to online harassments.

With their staff of roughly 200 people, they work with police should they decide an interaction be considered unlawful or dangerous as a means to minimize response times.

Ubisoft has reportedly stated that less than 0.01% of cases have needed police intervention.

It should be noted that despite this being a partnership with police located in the UK, their reach is not only limited to the country.

As such, there was a report of a threat to life in Norway that they were able to report to Norwegian authorities.

Going back to our previous report, it’s worth reiterating Ubisoft also has partnered with Riot Games in creating a cross-industry database in tracking online behavior.

It would not be a stretch to believe information gathered through this partnership could be used for that project, but is currently unknown at this time.

Ubisoft moderation team please help! I was told I would never be a real woman even though I am a transwoman. They told me I was a man, misgendered me and even dead named me! You have to do something right now! It's literal violence against me! Call the police right now or else I'm gonna become one of the 41 percent!

I predict that Skull & Bones will accelerate Ubisoft into possible bankruptcy. Next to Beyond Good & Evil 2, it's one of Ubisoft's self anticipated AAA games that's stuck in development hell. It doesn't help that the Singapore government is funding its development. If Ubisoft cans it, Singapore won't be too happy about that decision.

Who is Skull & Bones even targeted for? It's literally AC IV's ship combat with forced diversity and simplified gameplay with no engagement. When it does release, it'll flop within a matter of months.

isn't massive working on some star wars game or something? that's why I think it's less about the division but just not having the extra manpower for it
Plus an Avatar game as well for some reason. However I would point out that the SW game announcement didn't happen until early 2021 after the EA exclusive license lapsed, which was 2 years after TD2 launched and a year after WONY. If Massive has ever had any intention on making a TD3 it would have been well into development already, even before they knew a SW game was possible.

Gonna be really annoying that The Division future as a series is gonna rest on Heartland actually making some money.

the bigger question is, do you really want another division from the fuck-ups at "massive ubishit"?

:optimistic:
people won't even notice it releases like most ubisoft games that aren't ASSCREED and that's it.

fun fact, most support already has a escalation route to law enforcement (especially in regards to minors), "working together" is some PR hogwash, I'm not even sure what the goal of that little stunt is supposed to be; child friendly image in their rated T games?

also not surprised they picked UK law enforcement which is probably the most useless and full of current year retardation, a perfect fit for ubisoft in that regard.

I'm actually surprised they have not caved into the trend of remaking of classic games. I would have almost expected them to do remake of the Assassins Creed 2 Trilogy by now.

The money is already spent at this point. Might as plop the turd out into the open water of release.

I 100% believe if Ubisoft wanted to do another Division 3 they would bring back the original A team (the one doing the Star Wars/Avatar games) instead of the current C (Here, just sunset this game oh shit we need more content make some more stuff) team.

They caved in, they are remaking/remastering Prince of Persia Sands of Time and Splinter Cell, is just that this is Ubisoft we are talking about. During the same time the Dead Space and RE4 ones were announced and released, Ubisoft was too busy rewriting the fucking plot and getting the directors fired.

Well…I’d like to be surprised but I’m not lol. Guess they flew under the radar for me (I stopped caring about Ubi a long time ago), and by the sound of it they should continue to fly under the radar. Thanks for the update lol.

they did that for division 2, and we all know how that turned out...

don't forget giving the PoP remaster to poos for some "cultural identity" (whites remaking a game about persia is apparently sexist) which should've come out two fucking years ago, got constantly delayed and then moved over to montreal with no release date.

they remastered the trilogy back in 2016 for consoles. asscreed 3 in 2019 including windows. in true ubisoft fashion they stopped before black flag which most consider one of the best (maybe they didn't want it to cannibalize skull & shackles, which will never come out anyway).

I consider remasters and remakes different. Shoving the game into an "up-res" machine just so you can release basically a port doesn't constitute a remake (Silent Hill HD collection, GoW Trilogy, Devil May Cry trilogy) - and it's usually to cram a few games together. Remakes are what you see more of now with the RE2, RE3, Silent Hill 2, FF7. There has to be a level of actual effort put into the game for the current console/PC market - something Ubi is terrible at.

Black Flag was an odd game for me. It was a really good pirate game, and overall I enjoyed it......but as an Assassins Creed game it was awful. Barely went into the overall plot of the series (which makes sense since they just basically said "Fuck it" in all subsequent games). I haven't played an AC game since, I was always hoping they did one in feudal Japan where the Assassin was a ninja and the templars were Samurai, might have been cool mechanic/gameplay wise.

they only did that because some people were fed up with adam sandler and the writers took personal offense, taking the whole "abstergo goes illuminati versalife" route with whatever genetic bit they managed to rip off from desmond, they also made the newest twist to bring out people of old with valhalla and shieet because the dude is a ancient one that downloaded himself to a human body, i cannot bother to check which movies they are ripping off and which movies they will only to keep fucking the lore, not to mention how they made adam sandler conveniently retarded only to portray the valhalla templar bitch as ultra smart when fucking juno told him about many possibilities and probabilities eons ago at the end of 3, maybe that's why they killed her off in a comic...
i'm still not buying the newest AC because i could taste the seething from the writers when i played odyssey and picked the male character.
they also went full ubisoft with the ship combat in all latest interactions combining it with level bullshit.

to be fair even the early asscreeds still hold up well enough that they don't need a remake, just a slight touchup to make them more compatible with modern systems and inputs. say what you want about ubishit, but technically and fidelity-wise their games are true AAA.
EDIT: for all their faults, I have to defend ubishit in this one. technically breakpoint was excellent (despite some major bugs at launch) and they really put in some post-launch support even when it was obvious the game was a flop. I'd unironically would call it one of the best master race engines - but can't say how much they fucked it up in later games again.

about that...

remember when ubisoft said they'd never do an asscreed in japan? what could have changed I wonder...

but at least they also teased this, which depending how much effort they put in could be interesting simply for not being the same boring ass formula in a common setting:
german middle ages asscreed with some brothers grimm fuckery? sign me the fuck up kidding, they'll probably delay it indefinitely...

I really never went into the drama behind the scenes with AC since I stopped caring really after Black Flag. I was only aware of the one with Lucy's VA Kristen Bell. Though, I still think if you have a good enough writer you can make it work.

I would agree here, but I think with all the other companies jumping on the remake wagon, people would expect a remake rather than a portjob. I could see throwing them on the PSN though for 10 or so bucks.
Honestly, I think Ubi does better then they DONT try. I had a blast with Farcry 3: Blood Dragon, I thought it was better than Farcry 3 lmao.

about that...
Well holy shit lmao, guess I have to eat my words. In my defense, like I said, I don't really follow Ubi much anymore (though I have no idea how this got past me). Might have to take a look once the game comes out (and reviews).
I did a quick google...they wanna make like a whole AC online universe and Hexe was suppose to be part of it, not sure how well that's going to work out though.

i think they would need to rewrite shit as lastest tech allows them to ditch that whole "cinematics as loading screens" that AC1/2 have which makes them unskippable, i do recommend AC to people no problem but i always, always mention that shit.

I think they always thought doing a Japan one would be "too easy and cliche" despite everyone having wanted one since AC2 came out.

I personally would have enjoyed a romp in 1100s Europe. Much as I like the idea of the Crusades setting, there just was not a whole lot to do in AC1.

Really, because I played Legacy Collection on Switch and it crashed or had plot relevant enemies fall through the floor more than every other Switch game I've played combined- and I've played something like 40 of them.

as I said, mustard engine in terms of breakpoint. dunno what poo subsidiary is in charge for switch ports (since it runs on a different arch).
