I'm out of the Deltarune loop since chapter one and I come in here and I read that there's a rape scene. What the FUCK is going on?!

There's a "evil" path in chapter 2 you can take where the player asserts more direct control over Kris and basically grooms Noelle into being a weapon, and in chapter 4 they follow up on it with the player being able to speak directly through Kris to her.

The player puts the thorn ring back on her finger after Kris tried to take it off when the soul was ripped out, and when the player does it cuts to a rose losing it's pedals. Iirc the intended symbolism is about losing innocence and control and the rose being related to, y'know, thorns. But retards thought it was a "deflowering" reference and gaslit themselves into thinking the player raped Noelle or otherwise assaults her during the cut to black.

I swear I heard somewhere that after the first paid release this year, there would be only one more big drop of content after that and it would be the rest of the story. I feel like it was in one of the anniversary streams or something. I don't ever recall there being an episodic release planned other than out of necessity of getting the damn thing out in a timely fashion.

i think the previous plan was 3+4+5 and then 6+7 later but toby was probably "convinced" to drop something for the nintendo switch 2 release and chapter 5 isnt ready yet.

I mean Deltarune's setting/story framework isn't as open for different universe ideas as Undertales is. You could have a universe where everyone is a pirate or where Papyrus is king or something and the base games story is so simple you could easily work it together.

Deltarune, however, significantly less so. The lore TM is more expansive and touched on in DR whereas it was mostly window dressing in UT, and traveling to different worlds is already part of the game so why would you need AUs?

In a bout of extreme autism, I decided to look up the "correction" Toby made about Kris's hecking enbie status.

The one and only time Kris is referred to as a guy is at 3:29:01 as part of a joke. Now, turns out text to speech doesn't carry tone very well, and there's also a small delay between writing and actually speaking Toby has to do, so it's really difficult to tell if he was just keeping the joke going, or "correcting" the guy speaking.

But I think it's also really disingenuous of people to assume that it means Kris is a true and honest xir just because of one offhanded comment and the overall use of they pronouns. In the end, retards just use it as a way to justify their mental illness about tranny shit and on the opposite scale, people take trannies at their word just to have another thing to hate about Toby.

I think it's still up to the player because we create the goner in the intro, who is supposed to be Kris/a version of Kris, and that is entirely up to the player as to what they are and what they like. We are just possessing a vessel that we created.

It seemingly got patched with the update that removed the rose sprite though, there was a streamer who recorded that bit in OBS and went through it frame-by-frame to show the swords were registering contact roughly the distance of the soul hitbox away from where they should've been, probably due to how gamemaker handles collision detection (dunno who it was just some bluesky post).

This has been my read on it ever since the front shots of the knight in Chapter 4. One of my little fringe theories about DR is that all of the questions on the steam page for the game are critically important plot information, e.g. the statements that there's only one ending and that Papyrus isn't in the game. It wouldn't count as Papyrus if he's fully turned into that thing, and Sans being fully aware of this and covering for him would be a fun subversion although the plot's probably not going that direction and I have no idea how Dess would fit into that. I still expect him to be a boss somewhere down the line on the normal route as having to fight him on a pacifist run would be a nice parallel to having to fight him on the UT genocide run.
