I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Toriel and Sans scene was just another chapter end expectation switcharoo like he's done before. It'll turn out Toriel and Sans were having fun completely platonically, Toriel was drinking grape juice and feels really bad that they kept Kris up, and Sans didn't know those pancakes were yours and he gives you a hot dog or something to make up for it.

I just think he hasn't gotten his time in the spotlight. Chapter 4 set him up a lot and from what it sounds like, Chapter 5 is going to be about him, and potentially take place in his shop.
There are a couple teasers I can recall off the top of my head, like from the Gerson fight where he recounts the events of the "Lord of the Hammer" series which has parallels with Deltarune. He says:

This is the same chapter that you come home to find Sans and Toriel dancing. With the festival the next day, and them dancing well into the night, it's plausible that Sans could be seen by Asgore coming out of the house and give him the wrong idea and set off the events of Chapter 5. There's also this panel hidden in Chapter 4 that teases Asgore having a part in the story. though some of the hidden side prophecy panels are obviously jokes.

Kris is probably going to call Asgore and ask him to come pick him up since he can't sleep, Asgore walks in on Toriel and Sans dancing and runs back to the flowershop and uses the black shard to open the dark world, hence the inferno of jealousy.

Why do I get the feeling Asgore's going to be made out to be this super evil guy in the future? Like, given how Toby is kinda pandering to some of the more fucked up parts of the fanbase with some of the jokes, I could definitely see him making Asgore into a "turns to evil out of jealously" strawman.

Imagine asking a storekeeper for advice on how to get your ex-wife back, whom you still desperately love, then getting a call from your kid that his mom is being super loud and he can't sleep, so you head over there and you find your wife fucking around with the storekeeper.

I'd tweak out and open a shadow dimension too.

Was it even confirmed that ALL of the human souls from UT were children? Wasn't there an adult amongst them at least? I think the oldest was probably a teenager, the Justice one IIRC, but that's it.

I thought they were all kids as they coffins were all the same size. Monsters wouldnt make a typical 6 ft coffin as they wouldnt have any need for them. I think it was all presented as children as a parallel to chara.

Fair enough then. If one of the human souls was older than a teenager at most, he would have cut through the monsters, alright, but Sans would have no issue ambushing him the second he steps outside of the ruins, so he probably wouldn't have gotten that far.

Genuinely don't how I'd react, but it would be amazing.

Your issue is that you went in expecting something that wasn't even in the game. Sans is a piece of shit and I'm convinced his behavior in Deltarune is Toby's response to the fandom's character assassination of him as this sad chungus character when he's a mean, lazy sack of shit. He never explains the LOVE shit because his role is being a judge for you at the end of the game. He's a bad person, yes, but he's still the judge. It's not his responsibility to tell you what to do, it's to judge you. And to make sure you're even able to make it to the end, since Toriel asked him to not kill you. And he doesn't get "irate" at you unless you literally genocide everyone. He doesn't even fight if you only kill Papyrus, just berates you for it. Big whoop. It really sounds like most of your problem with UT is that you went in with it expecting the gay fanon version secondaries talk about. And don't get me wrong, there's plenty of gay shit in Undertale, but none of what you listed is any of it.

Killing Papyrus (you know, Sans’s brother and the one single monster in the entire game who will not kill you under any circumstance) is the only thing that even makes Sans get mad at you. You can kill every single monster in the game except Papyrus and Sans’s judgment speech is basically “wow, you’re a pretty bad person for going out of your way to kill all these monsters, but you’re still not as bad as you could be”. And even then, he only gives specific judgments on a repeat playthrough after Flowey already told you to reset and not kill anyone this time for a different ending.
