Probably. But it could be a fun little 2-3 hour playthrough with it's own defined ending instead of something tied to the whole game. Certainly not something needed, bit I'm a sucker for these sorts of branching scenarios.

Started up Deltarune chapter 2. The game itself is fun so far, but the writing's atrocious. Did something change since Deltarune 1, or did I? The writing seems just... stupid? It has a weirdly passive-aggressive vulgar tone all over it, and I guess the main baddie right now is Queen, the robot that speaks in title case. It's clumsy how the game seems to make a point that Kris' pronouns are they/them, rather than just writing around it to keep the protagonist ambiguous. It keeps feeling like the writer's addressing the audience, not one particular character. Very awkward.
I'm saved right after Queen pulled out an arcade machine and it got destroyed. I'll probably keep going, but I'm only expecting the writing to go downhill. What a shame.

Toby hired a bunch of losers and they've certainly left a mark. There's a few obvious lines where they've added their own "special touches" (Read: Either obnoxious current year stuff or fetishism) but I actually think that the game was better written overall than chapter one. Maybe it's because it was significantly longer which gave things time to settle.
Anyway, the writing gets better as the chapter continues but there's one rather cloying scene in a certain setpiece which I won't spoil (You'll know it when you see it) which may or may not be better in hindsight if it's setting up my personal epic fan theory.
There's also a scene where the best character has to apologize for being funny and have a big freudian excuse flashback but he's still funny for the rest of the chapter afterwards so it's OK.

Also this is going into headcanon territory, but I’m pretty sure a lot of species in UT/DR (including humans) are just genderless in general; it’s never come across as an identity thing except for maybe Mettaton.

It's confusing. Monsters are technically completely sexless since they reproduce via magic however they DO have sexually dimorphic features and act similarly to humans regarding the whole thing.
Frisk's sex is obscured for reasons related to their existence being a spoiler. Kris continues that trend (although the reveal is much earlier) and possibly also due to yet-to-be-seen story reasons.

They/them doesnt really bother me here since Kris is meant to be of ambiguous genitalia for the sake of player insertion. It was the same with Frisk, but Kris definitely seems more 'male'.

The issue is moreso there's at least one or two spots in the game where they blatantly refer to Kris as they in a clunky non-flowing manner. It was an instance where they should have just said "Kris", but they twisted and mangled the sentence poorly so they could use "They", and it just felt like poor writing.

Okay so a while back I said sans' brother reveal in Deltarune will be someone other than Papyrus like Roman or some other font.
Turns out Papyrus was originally gonna be someone named Times New Roman.

During the battle with Asgore, you can hear music that sounds like very loud trumpets, I mean, Toby Fox uses trumpets a lot on his music because of his Touhou-like music style, but these trumpets are special, they have a ROYAL sound to them, it certainly sounds like the prelude for a sacrifice to a KING. To find it you have to do a kind of ritual at a specific time and date, at the outside of the CORE. It is known of course that the worshipers of EL, known as satanists, perform rituals of sexual abuse and human sacrifice, herein this character is despised by many players that don't even know what he TRULY symbolizes.
