Redditors have started a civil war on whether Noelle is a troon or not. The reason? "She has antlers"

Now many undertale/deltarune fans were unfortunately SJWs from the first day, but holy shit the deltarune subreddit has turned into a full-on tranny asylum. They even added a rule that if you call Kris anything but "non-binary" you'd be banned. I wish I was making that up

Can't even enjoy my furry-adjacent game with a quiet autistic lead and funny erratic trashcan man without troons trying to shoehorn themselves in *sigh*

Reminder that one of their mods, u/punnyComedian, has been outed here on this thread before as a disgusting troon. It wouldn't surprise me if ALL of their mods are alphabet people in a way.

Odd comparison I wanted to make since I just thought of it. I am not claiming this is anything serious, or even that this was ever intended by Toby Fox, but it has a lot of fascinating connections. For reference I am very devoted to the study of theology (specifically within Christianity).

I think W.D. Gaster is very similar in his thematic presence as the figure of Enoch is. I would even say to the point where Gaster is like an allegory for Enoch. For those unfamiliar with Enoch within Biblical literature, he was the 7th Patriarchal figure who lived in the Antediluvian (pre-flood) period of the world for 365 years. There are only a handful of times Enoch is referenced within Canonical scripture, and details are rather sparse. Below are two important passages which give us the most details concerning his person:

"When Jared was a hundred and sixty two years old he became the father of Enoch. After the birth of Enoch, Jared lived for eight hundred years and he became the father of sons and daughters. In all, Jared lived for nine hundred and sixty-two years; then he died. When Enoch was sixty-five years old he became the father of Methuselah. Enoch walked with God. After the birth of Methuselah he lived for three hundred years and he became the father of sons and daughters. In all, Enoch lived for three hundred and sixty-five years. Enoch walked with God. Then he vanished because God took him." -Genesis 5:18-24

" It was because of his faith that Enoch was taken up and did not have to experience death: he was not to be found because God had taken him.[*a] This was because before his assumption it is attested that he had pleased God." -Hebrews 11:5
So Enoch was a righteous man who walked with God. He was assumed (as in literally taken bodily) into Heaven [a realm of existence which is beyond our sight/ability to see]. Moreover, the story of Enoch is expounded upon in the Book of Enoch, 2 Enoch and 3 Enoch (all of which fall outside of most Biblical Cannons, with 2 Enoch and 3 Enoch appearing in none and having been composed after ~100BC). These books (which reside within a greater collection of extra-biblical books entitled the apocrypha (or more literally, hidden books).

These works explain a lot of important details within scripture, such as angelology, the flood narrative, the Nephilim (translated unironically as giants or titans), the apocalypse, the coming of Christ, etc. These would later go on to influence the writers of the New Testament, appearing later in the Book of Jude and maybe possibly quoted by Jesus (do your own digging into this claim). One crazy thing that happens in 3 Enoch specifically is that Enoch transforms into an angel named Metatron.

So what the hell does this have to do with W.D. Gaster, from a silly videogame? Well the comparisons start to become more evident as we look into this. For one, W.D. Gaster no longer exists within the world of either Undertale or Deltarune since he fell into the CORE. In a sense, he was literally assumed into a state beyond time and space, similar to Enoch. Secondly, he is only found vaguely referenced within Undertale in normal (canon) gameplay [especially if you are lucky with your FUN values]. Consider for a moment that he is literally an apocryphal (aka hidden) character that can only really be better understood by digging deeper in the game's files.

The plot of Deltarune centers around an Angel's Heaven, with vaguely Christian symbolism and concepts incorporated within that game. Many characters (notably [me, myself and i], SPAMTON G. SPAMTON) directly reference heaven and appeal to it ("[Heaven], are you WATCHING?", ARE YOU WATCHING, [Heaven]!? IT'S TIME FOR SPAMTON'S [Comeback Special]!") Much of Deltarune's plot focuses on apocalyptical events in general, with an angel playing an important thematic role. It is often speculated that W.D. Gaster is himself the very angel prophesized within the game.

I find these comparisons to sometimes be vague, and sometimes striking; however, I feel like the two figures share similar elusively. Enoch is found everywhere in the Bible much in the same way W.D. Gaster is found throughout Undertale and Deltarune. They partially define their medium and inspire it. The primary difference is that Enoch paves the way for Christ and acts as a grand metaphor for the prophets to come, whereas W.D. Gaster remains alone and acts of his own accord.

That's all from me, YOUR [only $3.99] LOVEABLE SPONGE, Spamton. What do you all think?

This supports my headcanon that Gaster is the asterisk symbol that prefaces almost every line of dialogue in the game

>Papyrus doesn't use asterisks
Papyrus doesn't use any punctuation period right? What if when he was created, he had an asterisk at the beginning of his first words, but every other word after that is just one reeeeaaaaaallllly long sentence that just never ends since he started?

Edit: Nvm I'm retarded, he does use punctuation still. Still might be something to think about maybe.

Edit 2: so as not to double post and post something worthwhile, did any of you know about this? It's a video from the official UT channel:

Lets see how gay it ends up being.
It ended up less gay than Undertale, one of the characters, Moray is a They/Them, but everybody else of note is straight.
Even Clover is referred to more masculine-y then either Kris or Frisk.

Also, looking at the 4chan threads on /v/ two different Anons have started creating their own fangames of Yellow, a rewrite of the ending since it's controversial, and a Deltarune Yellow.

For the scope of the projects, UTY Rewritten looks to be the bigger one, with the Anon planing a 3d segment and apparently looking to get a team together, and the DRY anon said he wants to finish hometown and 1 area comparable to size with the forest in DR before releasing what he has to the public, and maybe he'll make more.
There's also a /vrpg/ thread, but it looks like it's entirely comprised of baiters, asside from the two fan game guys and a drawfag, other than that the /vrpg/ thread also attracted the board's resident schiczo ESL undertale hater.

Ok, you got my attention. Is it fun, does it manage to replicate Toby's humor or does it more do it's own thing? Is it fun? Does it do anything interesting with the combat system?
It doesn't manage to fully replicate Toby's writing, it has charming moments but less so than Undertale, both the Neutral and Pacifist final change up how the combat works, but that is the only difference between the routes as True Pacifist was scrapped.
It's harder than Undertale, but more unfair as well, but not rage inducing, it also makes no attempt to stick to Toby's low fidelity style and stylistic suck, but whether you like that or not is personal preference.
The genocide route is as expected harder, but also has a more satisfying ending, that said I would recommend you do it second after completing a normal or pacifist route.
The writing is okay and they manage to avoid some cringe fanfiction things, nobody is secretly Gaster or takes the spotlight away from canon characters, despite the fights being harder storywise you only go up against jobbers with Clover being so weak even with the Player making him stronger he losses to Flowey and has the survival instincts of suicidal lemming.

If any of you didn't catch it, the Fangame TS!Underswap has had it's second chapter, the Starlight Isles, released a little under 24 hours ago.
Although not a full game it's currently about the size of Deltarune Chapter 1+2, from my experince as somebody who has completed the pacifist route, it's a fun ride and while like Yellow it doesn't stick to Undertale's art style, it manages to capture Toby's writing style very well.
The OCs are fun and the returning characters are also written well, with a good mix in between the two.
Combat isn't changed much, but the fights are harder and one-off mechanics like the Purple Soul mode see more use. I think it's definitely better than UTY as is, and hopefully the Dev team doesn't have to rewrite the code from scratch again when working on the next chapter.
