I'm slowly coming around to the idea that Undertale was some sort of Mega Darkworld that the humans created to banish the monsters into.
Human souls are the only things that seem capable of sealing Dark Fountains after all, and if they were banished into a cave system, it's not really like there would've been any darkners there (Darkners seem to be created from prior meaningful interactions with Lightners)
Seriously Toby, what the fuck is the connection?
this is kinda what ive been thinking since chapter 3. i think undertale is some sort of pocket universe within deltarune which is the "real world". much like deltarune was tobys dream project from the beginning while undertale was a smaller scale experiment he did in the middle as a detour from developing deltarune. thats the connection.
gaster is involved, i fucking know it. no im not insane, you have to believe me. its the CORE. the CORE doesnt just "power the underground," its whats keeping the whole undertale miniworld in existence. everyone in hotland gushes about how marvelous a creation it is and how important it is for their survival but no one knows anything about how it works. we know gaster made it, and then his "experiments went wrong" and he "fell into his creation" and "shattered across time and space"? hes a genius scientist, ostensibly the smartest monster (if he is a monster) that ever lived as even decades later asgore could not find a suitable replacement for him. i aint buying for a second that he "accidentally" erased himself from material existence. he still exists in deltarune and guides the soul towards some as yet unknown goal by acting as the narrator, helping you save and load games, giving you hints on how to "beat" the knight, and he calls the deltarune "his". i think he created the world of undertale for some purpose, maybe to experiment with the soul (us) to see how it will act in a world full of monsters, which im pretty sure is literally why toby made undertale the game. after all gaster is "listening" when you interact with npcs in undertale. based on what sans says and does in undertale and the shit found in his workshop its possible he also originated from deltarune and got stuck in the undertaleverse. toby said that deltarune is independent of undertale which isnt a lie, its the "parent world" in which undertale was created, but the opposite isnt true.
its possible gaster is meant to be a stand in for toby himself as the "game creator" and nothing more than that which tbh would be the most boring explanation as opposed to a monster being so genius he found a way to escape through the 4th wall and give himself all these insane reality bending powers. just who the fuck is this guy? i have no idea but i cant wait to find out (dont you fucking dare cop out toby)
this has been your gaster truther schizopost of the week, donations in the form of puzzle and moon stickers are appreciated <3
Weirdly, the sword tunnels weren't that bad for me.
someone mentioned a few pages back that the sword hitboxes were buggy and were fixed in a later patch. that would check out because they felt weird to me as well, like i was being hit when i shouldnt be, i was playing the original red rose weird route version.
still the sword tunnels are doable even without the patch, it might be harder to consistently no hit but the pattern isnt too hard
