VG247 pulls support and coverage of GOG.com following pro GamerGate tweet - Some tweet of a Postal 2 DLC screenshot means supporting a dead hashtag.

I still don't know what was so bad about GamerGate. Seems like everything the pro-GG side said was true, so...whatever?
Well, you see, while what they said was true, there were trolls who existed at the same time. Some trolls targeted women. Therefore, gamergate murdered all women all the time and we have to stop it before it murders them some more.

I mean it's fairly straightforward...

As often happens nowadays, the valid complaints from GamerGate were conflated with the harassment that went alongside it, and so even mentioning 'ethics in game journalism' got you considered a misogynist neckbeard.

Didn't the FBI's study into GamerGate reveal that something like .4% of all the harassment was by people actually involved in it, and the vast majority was by unrelated trolls looking for lulz? There definitely was some harassment, which isn't a good thing, but the anti-GG people always downplayed exactly how much they were doing the same things as their opponents, while denying that there was anything like an organised anti-GG and also exaggerating to a greater or lesser extent some of their harassment.

My current understanding is that it was speds vs. speds with trolls and opportunists doing their best to inflame everything to make a glorious dumpster fire. And the people who profited the most from it were the figureheads who turned being oppressed from either side into a quite lucrative living.

When I mentioned trolls doing it for lulz to an anti-GG sped, said sped said that was either downplaying harassment or apologism toward GamerGate. All that said, your understanding is likely the best one. All of GG amounts to just spergs autistically screeching over video games with opportunist like Milo and Quinn coming in. Trolls on either side would also come in, especially the kind that would take a shit on both sides like Baphomet doxing people both sides, along with there being a trolling group such as GNAA.

You're missing one part. The non-sperg, logical types who didn't really care that much about the state of game journalism, but also didn't appreciate the sudden labeling of their hobby as sexist and exclusionary. People who wouldn't start an argument like that, but who could see the weird mob mentality and circular logic for what it was. People who got frustrated seeing the mainstream media running with an obviously false narrative.

I don't know what you call those people anymore. I thought that was actual social justice, but clearly the SJWs were anti-gg. I honestly think a lot of it was standard creepy "male feminist" white knighting nice guy stuff, agreeing with the most insane of the detractors.

"Creepy male" wouldn't be surprising since some guys on the anti bandwagon are more or less "male feminist", so of whom either had some skeevy shit under their belts or end up ass-kissing the whole "woke" thing (see Patrick Klepek).

All that said, the fact that this whole white knighting and the like reaches to the point that some have to bitch about GoG is funny yet unsurprising. You get a person like Quinn saying how she's a GG survivor and complaining about GoG making a tweet on Postal 2 and a tombstone and you get all sorts of white knights trying to ass-kiss her with tweets like "stunning and brave against GamerGate".

I wonder what happened to Fez II? Oh wait, he canceled it because someone shit talked him somewhere.

Seems like just another day in the life of Phil "Compare your life to mine and then kill yourself" Fish.

Fez II wasn't made because Phil Fish basically just designed Fez, it wasn't programmed by him. Phil Fish can't program and the guy who programmed Fez didn't want to work with Phil anymore, because allegedly a lot of his work wasn't paid for and Phil stole all the credit. Phil needed a reason to cancel Fez and a twitter spat was one way to do it.

No one who makes that much money off of a game suddenly stops making the sequel. 'Oh no, I won't get a sequel to a 3-4 hour pixel art indie adventure game! I only have hundreds and hundreds more to play!'

Him pulling Fez off GoG is his way of trying to remain relevant. Anyone who wanted Fez owns it and by now there are literally thousands of games like it, many of them better and deeper.

The truth is nobody actually wants to work with that massive faggot so his career is basically over. The indie clique he was in was basically destroyed once Steam opened the floodgates. You really only see the guy still making games from that time period is the guy who made Super Meat Boy. All the others stopped because they really don't have the talent and the personality to work with other people.

If you make 1 game, you're not a game developer in my eyes. You're a former game developer. The only reason Zoe did that Chuck Tingle shit and milk it is so she could be called a 'game developer'. That dumb cunt Wu is only accepted as a developer because the media is terrified of calling her what she is: an insane person who shits themselves and is better suited shouting at traffic than being interviewed or relevant.
