Are videogames for children?

I'm in a similar boat. I recently beat Tormented Souls. I bought it in September 2022 and started playing (and beat) it this week. That being said I'm probably not going to give up my one gacha.
I may keep one or two around to scratch that itch (but not spend a cent) but the majority have to go. I've been playing the new Star Ocean 2 remake and loving it and it's really given me a kick in the ass to focus more on games with actual start and end states.

Time to go disable the Miracle Machine

Achievement hunting in people playground: day unknown.
A little over 960,000 more kills required for completion.
At least I have a train.

Been playing Wizard101 again recently because I remember playing it a bunch as a kid. But god damn this monetization is inexcusable. The game is pay-to-play plus with a p2w store and lootbox system. You can go through the game without using any p2w features, but if you want to get the best gear you'd better fork over some cash. It's always been like this but this just seems worse than I remember. I'll probably just pay the crowns for the main story then never play again.

Finished the Star Ocean 2 remake on PC and it was a fun little trip down memory lane, lasted about 30 hours total and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The new visuals and QOL stuff make it well worth a purchase if you enjoyed it in the PS1 days or just enjoy a JRPG in general.

I just reinstalled Anomaly with the Dark Signal overhaul again last night.
I had a triple-take moment when I thought I heard a woman's voice in Yantar.
Not only was I not hallucinating, but she took on a Chimera solo.

Currently my squad is Gordon Freeman, Zone Wife, and silent and mysterious clear sky guy who is somehow the 12th most deadly stalker in the zone while only running a double barreled shotgun.

What port/overhaul are you running? I don't recognize any of the UI elements. And more importantly, does it run well? Most of the STALKER mods I've played absolutely shit the bed whenever I go to 100 Rads or Yantar.

I'm running the GAMMA modpack for Anomaly. It has a lot of mods in it but the most important gameplay differences are that guns and armor are not sold by merchants and have to be recovered from stashes or the dead and then repaired with replacement parts or repair kits, as well as the healing economy being quite difficult as well, with needing to use stuff like medkits to do temporary healing and then ibuprofen to do more permanent healing on your limbs.
There's also a quite deep ballistic rework that makes good armor and good armor piercing ammo invaluable.

Still here trying to gaslight myself into playing fighting games. I want to get good at a character and see that journey through, but spending 2-3 hours a day for a week just to be competent isn't appealing next to.. idk, Sims. Indies. Anything else. Yet I crave something to truly drown in.
If its Street Fighter, watch a top Japanese player on YouTube, steal their fattest combo and see what your characters best button is. Learn the combo and then go online. Nothing kills enthusiasm like a week grimly learning appropriate anti airs, blocking, situational uses of each button, etc etc like a gootecks training video. For example, I never learned anything in DBZ but instant air dash and the biggest assist combo i could copy for each character (and parried everything instead of learning defense), and this strategy worked for me. You will learn the other stuff naturally while winning lots with big damage conversions every time you get a touch.

I want to play new Mario RPG but the new graphics are disappointing and the dialog is going to be so squarely aimed at children. Not sure it's the kind of game a grown man could play alone without being a faggot nerd. It may be good for purely nostalgic reasons.

Oda Nobunaga mostly made the black guy that the Portuguese handed over to him into a personal retainer because Oda Nobunaga didn't give a fuck and thought it would be funny much in the way that Nero made his horse a senator. He has all the reigns of power and if he wants to make you eat shit you will smile while you do it. Unsurprisingly the black samurai didn't last long after his liege lord died and there was no institutional force supporting him as an official general insult anymore.

Just fought the scripted Monolith assault at The Barrier, I think every friendly survived. Had to use a bullpup SVD with AP ammo to shoot most of the tanky bastards. Meanwhile Ilya Butcher ranked up from Master to Legend. I am in awe at the state of this lad

I wish someone would make an Anomaly modpack that would actually make it something like Call of Chernobyl+, not STALKER MISERY: Escape from Tarkov 2.0. Because the latter is what all Anomaly modpacks aim for. Base Anomaly is basically COC+MISERY, and every single larger modpack is just COC+MISERY+Tarkov, with GAMMA being extra gay because the author refuses to distribute by any other means than a fucking Discord server.

The great thing about Anomaly is at it's core it's an insanely capable codebase for STALKER modding. The Monolith engine is the most mature form of the X-Ray Engine and it's probably what it would look like if Grigorovich didn't run his company into the ground a decade ago. There is so much potential in it, like perhaps remaking the trilogy with extra flare while still staying true to the feel, mechanics and balance of the trilogy, but no, it's all gay ass Tarkov clones in the Zone.

I looked up that Dark Signal modpack and one of the points is this:
>Many balance and gameplay alterations combined with the selected addons. More dangerous radiation, more present anomalies, bigger mutant packs and variances in faction power and groups.
This describes Anomalyfags rather well. To them making shit excessively difficult is "balance". Because to them, the game being difficult to the point of being bullshit is "fun". And then they have the gall to say that this is how GSC intended STALKER to be. Or they'll defend that repeating the myth that the Master difficulty was the intended way to play the game with the lower ones being lazily added because the publisher said so.

I was intrigued at first but when I saw that it's just another "Anomaly but with more bullshit difficulty" modpack my interest instantly dwindled down. I really fucking hate that this is basically all of Anomaly's community. Make it harder, harder, harder and make it as unpleasant to play as possible. And there doesn't seem to be anyone who thought that maybe they should dial the base game down rather than up.

tl;dr Anomaly and most popular modpacks based on it suck dick because they're nowhere close to the OG trilogy and I want a proper vanilla-esque modpack on that codebase. Or even a "vanillizer" so that the balance and economy gets brought to the vanilla levels so then you have a solid base to build your own Vanilla+ experience.
