Anyone have any thoughts on the Nioh games? I've got them both; got the Platinum on the first one and loved it, but the second one I just found to not be very fun and dropped it. I've been thinking about hopping back into it sometime, give it another go; either continuing on my current character or making a new one.

Anyone have any thoughts? Any builds that you like to run? Any suggestions?
Got the platinum when Nioh 1 came out and did it again on Steam. What a great game. Played 2 but the counter system and the yokai realm stuff with reduced stamina regen sucked out all the fun. Going to try it again at some point.

I got to disagree with on the horse armour. It was definitely to test the waters but I believe it was to see what people were willing to accept so they knew exactly how to fleece us. Don't get me wrong some companies have had amazing, fairly priced DLC, we unfortunately have a huge amount of sheer junk DLC that outnumbers the good. They are constantly pushing and prodding to see just how much we are willing to accept (see Yakuza New Game +). Paid loot boxes should never have been allowed or accepted as usual though too many decided to suck corpo cock and here we are.
My issue with DLC is that cuts up what used to be a full expansion pack (nevermind that some expansion packs weren't all that big) into little parts and pieces that cost more than what an expansion cost.

Arguably, the DLC issue goes back to The Sims 2 where in 2005 you had the "Holiday Party Pack" released between the second and third "full" expansion packs. It was SOP for companies to offer a few free downloadable items from their website since the time that first became viable (the first company/game I remember doing that is Oddballz, a "virtual pet" game from the late PF Magic (and that was circa 1996).

That said, I had issues with the general "feel" of the game; it just didn't feel as solid as the first one overall, the Yokai Realm and Yokai Shift/Core mechanics were something that I had difficulty using properly - especially when using Yokai Shift to parry, which I was never good at - but I am still thinking about giving it another shot, though I would like to get a solid build figured out first.
It was definitely a less tight experience although you could make a much more cracked out build in 2. I never got too autistically deep into buildcraft as most of the time, I'd find someone had already made a better version of what I was going for so I'd just copy that. Shame Wo Long or whatever it was called didn't; I'd imagine the first few months of still figuring everything out would be a blast if we get a Nioh 3.

@Brigadoom I think I'm going to be trying out an axe build for Nioh 1, actually; was going to be giving the game another run sometime in the future, and swinging around a giant axe sounds like fun. I admit, it was also the weapon I used the least; even the DLC weapons, which I never tested out until after I beat the game, I ended up having higher proficiency in.

Any suggestions for it? I'd like to find a solid armor set for it; the single sword/katana had the Dragon Ninja/Ninja Gaiden armor from the third DLC, but any suggestions for an axe?

Yeah, the counter system and Yokai Realm bits really gave me trouble, too. I was never the best at parrying, so more often than not I ended up eating some heavy attacks and dying while trying to counter. The Realms weren't always the greatest to deal with, either.

Also, was it just me, or did the bosses - and oftentimes even just basic enemies - in Nioh 2 feel a LOT tankier and damaging than the first game? The second game felt a lot more difficult than the first one did; I mean, difficulty is the name of the game in Souls games, but Nioh 2 felt kinda unfair at points. Granted, it might've just been me.

I think the pace slowed down quite a bit compared to the first one, which probably made it feel tankier. Don't know, when I played the first game I had this feeling of a samurai movie, one mistake, one sword stroke and somebody died. It felt visceral and exiting. Nioh 2 didn't feel the same.

I know Hell Let Loose has been out for a few years at this point but for some reason I missed it until it came out on Game Pass. The developers really managed to find the exact line in the ground between the gamey Battlefield 1942 and the more simulatery type ww2 shooter like Red Orchestra where it feels like you are in an actual war while still running around dropping ammo boxes for the squad. It's been so long since I have played a game where people actually talk. Good stuff, although no cross play with consoles sucks as I wanted to play with my brother but sadly he is a console kid.

Is there a good place to download video game soundtracks?

Zophar.net is unreliable from the sixth-generation and up (and non-console games), and KHInsider has that annoying "every song has its own HTML page" that Galbadia Hotel used to have.

Getting an account is useless, because they cuck you anyway:
Unfortunately, due to large server expenses we are no longer able to accomodate mass downloads for all registered users. To be able to use the mass download feature you are now required to give back to the site. This can be done in three ways:

1. Become an uploader! Click here to learn how to become an uploader!
2. Help keep the site alive by giving a small server donation. You can do so here.
3. Refer people to the site!

Sometimes Archive.org has stuff, but that's also unreliable.

Galbadia Hotel
Huh. Now that's a name I haven't heard in ages. I remember using it a good amount, I just couldn't come up with the name for ages. So I searched for it, and wound up in a little rabbit hole:
So... there you go!

It is definitely fun believe me. :story: I can't really give any pointers though I'm afraid as I forgot to migrate my save data from PS4 to PS5 so I've no fucking idea what I used.

That brought back some memories! That cunt Nicholas Nyberg the pedo used to run that site FFShrine.

I was going to get around to playing Sekiro next however just talking about Nioh makes me want to get fired into that instead.
Sekiro is one of my tippy-top-tier games, but Nioh 2 is also a really good time. I don't generally enjoy "looter" games because all the item modifiers quickly feel like tedious busywork and obsessiveness to me, but Nioh 2 has so much going on outside of that stuff that it's still very satisfying.

I feel like I lean on the Odachi a bit much because it's very easy to use, and lets you pull off massive combos switching between stances once you have the right skills unlocked, but as I've started trying more weapon types I'm beginning to think it's not because the Odachi is "easy", it's because every weapon can be like that and the Odachi's just the one where it's really clicked for me.

I know what @Scream Aim Fire was saying about how it can feel weird using Yokai abilities, I still forget to use them sometimes, but I think it helps imagining them and setting them up as if they're extra-strong Light or Heavy attacks you can thrown in by remembering to pull Right Trigger during a combo.

Everyone I've spoke to says amazing things about Sekiro. I loved the look of it so I bought it ages ago however I've got a massive backlog of games to play so I've not got round to it yet. It's high up on my list to play after I finish my current game of Shadow Warrior 3. You got any tips or things I should keep an eye out for before I start playing?

I'm not usually one for looter games either if I'm honest so I'm completely in line with you there. That being said I did a lot of farming in Nioh 1 because it was so much fun it didn't ever feel tedious. I'm going to try and experiment a bit more with weapon types when I do play Nioh 2. I don't want to feel like I'm repeating myself by just using big ass axes again. I'll need to remind myself to use the Yokai attacks & parries too.

@Scream Aim Fire Have you lads played Ghost of Tsushima? It's another one in my backlogs to play. I've heard fantastic things about it from a mate but just seeing what others think. All the talk of Jap games made me remember Rise of the Ronin which is out next month(I think?) that is from the Ghost of Tsushima & Team Ninja boys. It looks like a cross of Ghost of Tsushima, Sekiro and Nioh all in one. Anybody thinking of nabbing that?
with denuvo enigma.
it's a good price (although there were probably better bundles in the past), but with capcom going full retard recently might as well emulate the rom directly and be done with it.
I'm surprised those Humble Bundles still exist. I stopped paying attention to them ages ago when they started doing shit bundles for the same mainstream charity that everyone else did. Part of the draw for me was them using little-known charities that weren't ever in the limelight.

I completely forgot about their new anti-piracy kick.

Also, I didn't find this out until I got home last night, but while most of the games are "free" after the donation, the Battle Network collection is only 50% off, and X Dive Offline is like 30% off.

they still going strong, some are quite good actually. however quality dropped a bit after they started gating the really good stuff in their monthly. and if I have to wait for it to make it into a bundle anyway, might as well buy it on fanatical or directly for 80% off down the line.
they also started to mess with the ratio, like putting you into a higher price than the highest tier so you spend more money, mandatory cut for humble and put the devs at 20% or some shit. that's why you always have to check it manually.

charities depends, some bundles allows you to pick one, some don't. especially june is rife with troon and lgbtbbq charities you can't opt out off (you can at least turn their contribution down to 0).

you can try to refund it, one of the few things humble can actually do competently (after selling the censored version of games without any notice), they'll just refund the money and remove them from your steam account.
battle network collection is probably to new still, might wanna keep an eye out on https://isthereanydeal.com/game/megamanbattlenetworklegacycollectionvoli/info/

Nah, I'm not so hard up for cash that I need to refund the $25 I gave to diabetes cure research.

@Brigadoom I've actually gotten the Platinum trophy on Ghost of Tsushima, as well as beaten the 3-part multiplayer raid, as well as the DLC. Excellent game; I admit, I originally picked it up because of the insane rivalry between the GOT fandom and the TLOU2 fandom, but... well, let's just say that I was very pleasantly surprised with how much fun I had with GoT.

Make it your next game to play if youre big into samurai shit. Its probably one of my favorite games of all time. Its like playing an Akira Kurosawa movie, I cant emphasize enough how good this game is lol.

Fully agree with this. The fact that the devs even went so far as to put a "Kurosawa Mode" into the game makes it even better.

I usually just bought the bundle without really bothering to check the ratios of who gets what however I noticed the same tomfoolery with the default % too. You take that and put it together with their gatekeeping anything good behind their monthly subscription and the tons of troon charities as well and it made me realise that they are just another charity scam so the people behind it can get rich. I shouldn't be surprised by the charity grift anymore but I really wanted to believe them since they started off so well. Same shit, different day.

Sounds like GOT has been moved up my next game to play list! I'm a big fan of Kurosawa and older samurai films in general. Lone Wolf & Cub aka Babycart being one of my favourite film series around. Kurosawa mode makes the game black & white plus Jap voices and some edited sound effects doesn't it? I remember seeing it when they were hyping the game up before release but just making sure I'm not confusing it with another samurai game.

Played quite a few of the Steam Nextfest Demos, got 4 recommendations that you should definitely download these Demos.

Mullet Mad Jack - A distillation of a mindless corridor shooter, absolutely fantastic presentation. I was concerned that the game's simplicity would make it boring and that the timelimit would make it only fun for speedrunning autists but it's not. I would buy this at launch if they price it for $20 or less.
Balatro - Like many I was totally addicted to Slay The Spire (I hope that team's next game is on its way) but every other Roguelike Deckbuilder just never clicked for me like Spire did. Balatro's Demo is the first one that has and I would probably pay $50 for this damn game it's utterly stellar. Keep in mind I do have a love for Video Poker and Balatro really does a damn fine job of simulating that dopamine kick of having the cards line up in your favor. It's accessible, I feel overwhelming satisfied to play it right, I'm just in love with its design. I can't wait for the full experience. AMAZING TIMEWASTER
Normal Fishing - Fantastic demo, I really love how the developer captured the simplicity of Gameboy games. It goes the SPOOKY route and kept me entertained. After Undertale and Inscrtption this genre of retro "spookypasta" games is maybe getting a little worn out but I just had a lot of fun with the demo and I doubt people won't enjoy it. Who knows if the full game will live up to the beginning but it should come out this year.
