Are videogames for children?

Apparently close to 99% of the stock of all hardware platforms have been bought up.

And it's less than what it was a year or so ago when it comes to totals. This means that there's zero saturation of any hardware platform with no spares or overstock to go around. At this point you're going to have to wait for January for any platform to get restocked in significant amounts.

And the real kicker is crypto miners are getting desperate to the point where some are considering disassembly of systems that were considered previously not optimal to farm crypto from. So this could hit the secondary market just as hard.

Damn that do be a lot of games son, on another note one franchise I’ve never played but heard crammed around ear so much is the Fallout series, It’s raved about so often as being a genre defining masterpiece that helped shape Open game worlds and the post apocalyptic genre of shooters forever, with its brilliant art direction, characters and combat. Yet with the absolute trashfire that was 76, my interest in the series has become skeptical, do the earlier games like 3, Vegas and 4 still hold up. Everyone I’ve ever known says Vegas is like the one of the fucking best Shooters they’re played and it features prominently in nerd and game culture and game personality community as an all time classic? Is it worth it now?
Caveat that I've only played 3 and NV and only on console, so no improvements that PC power or QoL mods might provide. I've heard that 4 is worse than both 3 and NV, but from the videos I've seen the gameplay is pretty close to identical, so I'm not sure why the zeitgeist doesn't like it specifically (maybe the story isn't as good? I know it starts out kind of strange).

I didn't buy either when they first came out, but I can imagine that they both felt like "old" games when they were first released. They can be kind of ugly, with framerate drops and places where the action starts to get kinda frantic but then the game decides it can't keep up with your input so it just starts dropping your button presses and you end up selecting actions that you didn't want to do… pretty frustrating at times.

That said, 3 and NV are still fun to play, yes. As others have said, there's just a massive amount of story and lore, if that's what pushes your buttons. For me, more than that, it's the really massive worlds full of places to explore and loot to collect (kinda similar to a Borderlands game in that respect though the action is very different). In between doing tasks, it's fun to just wander into an unexplored area of your map and see what's there. If it turns out that the monsters/religious extremists/political LARPers there are too tough for you, there's a decent chance you can still escape with your life, then make a mental note to go back there once you've leveled up and have more powerful loot. You eventually will obtain the game's best weapons and armor (for your play style, anyway) and bonk your head on the level cap, but it will take a long time to get there. It all just feels fun in a hard-to-describe way.

I would definitely suggest giving both games a try if you haven't yet. Just be prepared to sink over 100 hours into them, especially if you get the "ultimate editions" with the DLC areas - some of those can add well over 10 hours of gameplay if you don't rush through them. (They also raise the level cap of the base game so I recommend them for that reason alone…)

Bethesda games (Elder Scrolls and Fallout) haven't changed much since Oblivion. It's the same large (mostly empty) open world, very basic combat and lots of shallow roleplaying options. Fallout 4 got slack for being more of the same as the industry moved on. With Ubisoft making yearly massive open world games Bethesda's half broken open world games started to look pretty bad. Fallout 76 wasn't anything exceptionally bad by Bethesda standards but the industry had moved on and people were no longer willing to forgive the jank so it got torn to shreds. Cyberpunk's release and most Bethesda games don't look all that different, but cyberpunk took it hard as it's no longer acceptable to release games that broken. The quality ceiling for releases has both lowered and raised it's self last generation. Every game is expected to be a bit buggy and need patches, but no game can be Bethesda's crashfests any more. Todd (praise be upon him) admitted this himself recently so Bethesda are paying attention after 76 got panned.

Other than Halo infinite what games have come out in the last few months worth playing? Looking for some stuff to play over the Christmas season and I'm coming up short. I don't mind the genre as long as it's got some meat on it's bones. No indie hold right and find out you're a lesbian games, more like Arkham Asylum, Doom or Bayonetta. Ten or so hour experiences with quality gameplay that feels worth the time investment.

even Series Ss are all gone now
Yeah the Series S and the PS4 are not even on shelves. I think gamestop is offering $250 for a used PS4 which is only 50 bucks under the MSRP.

It's just crazy to think that taking that into consideration, we're actually at a low point in hardware sales. I've held off getting a Series X because I want to see if they'd do a themed console for Elder Scrolls or Starfield, but with the PS5 going the route of removable shells since they can't source enough components for different SKUs I think Microsoft might do the same.

To this day I wonder who are these people buying and playing PS5 and Series X/S games when I can't remember the last time I saw one of those consoles for sale. Or the full-size Switch, for that matter (I've seen the Lites/Minis/whatever they call the smaller handheld ones from time to time).

In fact, I think a reasonable argument could be made that the PS5 and Series X don't actually exist at all and have never been for sale anywhere and that this entire gaming generation is all some sort of weird highly-orchestrated conspiracy by console manufacturers and the media.

Back in '17, you could get a launch model PS4 on eBay for around $100-150. I knew used prices went way up, but I didn't think they'd stay high for this long.

Series S consoles were readily available at Costco back in September, but I've still yet to see a single Series X (or any PS5, for that matter) in person.

I've read it was reasonably possible around springtime to find PS5s and Series Xs if you were really on your shit. I've casually tried to get a Series X, and not even come close. But yeah, I'll go along with that conspiracy theory because it's fun. PS5 and Series X-only discs exist entirely just to troll us.

The only time I saw a Series X was when I was at Target and they had PS5's in stock but they would only allow you to purchase either a Single PS5 or the Xbox Series X. You couldn't get both.

People have had more luck signing up for the company e-mail invites to buy the systems.

I may be late to the party, but Splitgate is a super good time. Halo with portals, free to play, games are quick and you can easily get 2-3 games in 30 minutes. Plus there are actual lobbies with humans talking - I forgot how much fun it is to wreck a team that's trash talking you in the pre-game lobby.

There is also Megaton Musashi that released last month on Switch (and PS4 too), I've played the recent demo last week. It really gives off some Gundam Breaker vibes but with super robots instead. No info for a western version yet but the game is receiving several updates and new content in the upcoming months.
I first saw the game in a Nintendo Direct a while ago and I'm surprised no one else talks about it. I'm importing it without being very literate in runes since the gameplay looks good, hopefully someone will write a guide for it.
Last I heard Level-5's overseas offices all closed and they have no translators anymore, so I don't expect it to come out in English for years if ever.

yeah, nah. watch starfield be a mess and no one will care and it winning prices left and right. why? because it's SP and you can mod it to your hearts content (if ms/bethesda is smart) - which you couldn't do with FO76, on top of being multiplayer. cp2077 was so overhyped and bugggy it wished it was as "good" and moddable as a bethesda game.

the industry hasn't "moved on" when todd's fucking 10 year old game still pulls over 30k players daily and has been going up, cp2077 hits 20k players (which have also gone up) with a "very positive" rating and shit like gta online raking in billions.

With less retailers in both B&M and Online, there's now major chokepoints in places that can be exploited. While physical stores at this point have more means of protection against scalping than online storefronts. You have things like all major toy store brands are defunct (Toys r us just opened a new store but they're still tied to target's system) and toy stores would have major video game sections but then they got eclipsed by Walmart. So now if you want something you're pretty much stuck going to one store the same as everyone else.

Scalping is also made very easy by third party seller features for both ebay and amazon. You're actually having people steal stuff from stores and then sell it online with no hassle and it's become a pretty big problem.

It really says something when Costco of all places is getting a stampede of people for new hardware when it goes up. That never happened even with previous console launches. Like they would get stuff in weeks later after the initial launch but it wouldn't be people waiting with baited breath to buy shit. Every single bundle that's gone up has sold out within minutes.

yeah, but that's why I wouldn't really call it moddable. that's like saying fortnite has mods.
ironically it also worked much better on consoles since there it was protected by sony/ms locked down system.
yeah but you forgot the part you can still mod shit in fo76, but that will get you banned so that's why niggers go for the retexturing.
although i've read on GUN that some nigger wants to port all fo76 maps to FO4, all of them, this smells like some TTW shit without the faggotry of the TTW author.

FC5, FO4, AssEffect Andromeda...
hm, timmothy tencent is desperate. FC5 is good however, i had some crazy fun with it and being original means a ton of pirates can co-op the base game, i think i've read on cs.rin that you can use an epic DLC activator, you can test it on any game that has DLC's and isn't fully online, so i can gets co-op with pyrates with all the FC5 dlc's activated... nice.
oh and dragon age inquisition, i've always wondered about that co-op modus, BO3 doesn't interest me as much but hey, free shit + dlc...
