Any of you guys recommend DOOM 2016 or DOOM: Eternal? I haven't given either of them a shot before; heard they were pretty good, but...
They're both very repetitive, but they go on sale for cheap, so, whatever. Doom 2016's worth five bucks, but not much more than that, honestly.

Repetitive is alright, as long as the games are both fun and aren't complete wokeshit. From what I've seen, the core gameplay loop for both is fairly entertaining despite its repetitiveness, and they're both mechanically solid from what I hear.

"Oh hey, that new Firaxis game came out. I'm not really into Marvel, rather have more Civ or XCOM, but maybe it's still a good strategy game-"

Chimera Squad was bad enough that I requested a refund right after the tutorial, and I only spent, I think literally just one dollar on it. Firaxis is yet another completely burned developer in my eyes.

Anyone have a list of modern games that aren't complete wokeshit?
Give me puzzles, but I feel like you can worry too much about wokeshit.

Take Big Boss Nigger throwing away a game he was interested in because of the wording. Who gives a fuck? If the game plays well and/or has a good story (depending on the genre) then refusing to play it because it uses 'body' instead of 'gender' is just as much of a faggot move as the other way around.

Vampire Survivor has Jim Sterling writing on it: Don't care, fun to play.
SE donated to BLM: Don't care, doesn't come up in the game, fun to play (for an MMO), good story.
DMCV thinks women fart out censoring motes of light: Don't care, fun to play.

I started playing Old-School RuneScape and I’m having fun with it, I never played RuneScape back in the day because I was too busy on that Card-Jitsu black belt grindset in Club Penguin.

I wonder if there’s some sort of Kiwi RuneScape clan I can join…

I dont want to support games that are woke. So I wont give them my money. Yea its a small thing. But thats how it always starts out. You give them an inch they take a mile. I didnt buy Cold War when they added The "Non Binary Option" and I didnt buy Spiderman Nigga Morales when they added a BLM easter egg. I will not buy Wo Long for adding "Body Type 1 and Body Type 2. "

Yea they are fun. They arent woke. DOOM 2016 also had a really good soundtrack. The online was okay though. Eternal is okay too.

The Doom games are fun, and a nice throwback. Gloriously violent, if (as some people have said) a bit repetitive. The level design helps break up some of the repetitiveness though.

As for me, I'm really, really enjoying the new Star Ocean. It is

A) not woke

B) fun to play (the battle system)

C) has a fairly tropey but decent story

D) a good soundtrack and good voice acting that isn't too annoying

E) glorious anime titties.

It's a fun time and I'm glad it turned out okay.

Though one drawback is its occasional dogshit framerate, but I can live with it as it's fine most of the time.

The new Valkyrie Elysium is actually good, pretty straightforward action and it's fun smashing enemies with your ghost posse. The problems are mainly that stages are too long and fights are way too chaotic for more than spamming spells and attacks. Plus it's really annoying you have multiple elements but limites to four on quick cast, so you need every once in a while go to the menu and change the shortcuts.
Reviewers said it's short but I'm already ten hours in and still have about 4-5, but I guess anything that's not 40 hour grindfest is now considered short.

2016 is currently in a bundle over on fanatical with a bunch of other games, might be worth if for anyone who wants it and some others to pick up cheap:

don't pick the standalone spellforce expansion tho, I grabbed the base game and literally can't stop playing.

if turned based tactics are your thing there are almost always a few indies released each quarter (niche demographic AAA doesn't really cover obviously, cheap and easy enough to make for a solo/small-team dev).

Pretty much anything japanese although english localizations can spew garbage (which is why I exclusively play in moonrunes now). I'll rejoice what @ZMOT said about indies too. There is currently the Indie Live Expo Winter 2022 going on, if you're interested.
>big international event
>sale is hard to miss and doesn't even have the next fest feature of demos for everything available
literally ONE JOB

still, great to see those games getting some spotlight.

Your call mate, I'm just saying it's about as nuanced and thought out a take as 'eww, a girl touched it.'

There's an old saying 'Pick your battles.' Changing the text on a gender select isn't worth getting my dander up. Adding an option without removing others isn't worth it. Even the BLM, as retarded as it is, isn't grabbing my face and forcing me to stare at it.

If it comes to 'argue for quality' or 'argue against text choices and easter eggs', I know which one is more worth the effort.

If I'm being honest, pretty much like any video games are now going to use that or be like Nintendo "pick an appearance" choice.
Like I mean, even Elden Ring and MonHun Rise have this crap. As in, it's pretty much a loss cause for video games character creation now using those description instead of outright stating "Male" and "Female".

Then again if the game is truly fully committing to its wokeness, then you wouldn't be able to create a character with African racial face feature with fair skin. Or well, you can argue character is race-mixed.

For example, recent W40k Darktide, face preset and skin tone. I didn't pick hairstyle, they are part of random generated, I only removed scars and tatoo for clearer look.

At the end of the day, it doesn't really affect core gameplay and its quality. This thing is just globohomo faggotry zero effort for inclusivity.

Localization is definitely affected with "male" and "female" referencing, then again it's been a thing since ages like Pokemon games.

Games last me way longer than the advertised time because I'm not binging them. The "only X hours" thing feels like the gaming equivalent of deathfats feeling that they were cheated.
Sure, there are exceptions where games are really short and I've had complaints in the past but I play in bursts and if a game is good I'd rather it not overstay it's welcome. Not everything needs to be endless buckets of chicken nuggets with customers that only complain about it getting stale unless they can pay for microtransactions.

No, but Elden Ring had the problem with Type A and Type B* in that I didn't even know that I chose a female character with a male head because it was dressed up or something and I just chose the shape/build? I don't care about character creation, but throughout the game I thought I played as a male character until I discovered the mirror and saw that I was Glenn Danzig. I thought it was a bug, a male characters head on a female body. Please label things accordingly, I'm allergic to peanuts, Danzig and trannies.

*A and B following each other creates a hierarchy making women the second option and that is transphobic.

How do you worry so much about a character's body without bothering to look at customisation options that strip the armour off in chargen.

So, arguing with the REtards in the RE thread brought up an interesting question:

What do y'all think is worse, QTEs, or fake QTE's?

For clarity: Fake QTEs are prompts that you can neither succeed or fail, and only exist to give you something to do so you can feel like you're contributing. A prime example is RE7, when you're stuck to the wall by your possessed-but-not-really wife, and it prompts you to mash to free yourself before she shows up. Except it does nothing. Not mashing still results in Ethan pulling free to block a chainsaw with his hand like the retard he is.
