How do you worry so much about a character's body without bothering to look at customisation options that strip the armour off in chargen.
Why would I do that? I smashed my way through character creation like always, stripping clothes/armor and ogling the body while pulling sliders is nothing but busy work for weirdos. But male heads on female bodies with a male voice appeared to be either a bug or oversight to me.

So, arguing with the REtards in the RE thread brought up an interesting question:

What do y'all think is worse, QTEs, or fake QTE's?

For clarity: Fake QTEs are prompts that you can neither succeed or fail, and only exist to give you something to do so you can feel like you're contributing. A prime example is RE7, when you're stuck to the wall by your possessed-but-not-really wife, and it prompts you to mash to free yourself before she shows up. Except it does nothing. Not mashing still results in Ethan pulling free to block a chainsaw with his hand like the retard he is.
The worst QTE scenarios are the ones where you're watching a cutscene, and suddenly one pops up that you end up missing because you're off guard. And if you get punished for it, either missing out on a bonus or having to do the cutscene again is BS.

At least a fake QTE doesn't break up the flow of the game

Just wanted to share some games that picked my interest during the Indie Live Expo Winter 2022 on the last weekend, mentioned in the previous page.
also on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1975360/DRAINUS/

also Yobarai Detective: Miasma Breaker as hack-n-slash game

Day 1 stream (English, Japanese) and Day 2 stream (English, Japanese) if you guys want to see more things for yourself

It's crazy how much more I'm enjoying Xenoblade 3 compared to 2. Not to say I don't like 2, but it'll be hard to go back and finish it after this.

Nah, fake QTE is just busywork that doesn't even have a payoff if you fail. It's the video game version of a participation trophy

Trying out cultic. So far it's really good.

Those ghost enemies are a pain in the ass to deal with. First, they attack you with an instant, telepathic attack as soon as you enter their LoS. Which is fine, but you have no idea where the attack is coming from and they usually fly. Then, as soon as you leave their range of sight they start throwing objects at you.

Definitely. I sympathize with the team when they were making XBC2 since having to work on BOTW at the same time must've been awful, but 3 is just everything good about 1 on steroids with none of the bad of 2.

I just now found out that Dead Rising 2: Off The Record was an actual game you can buy/download and play and I’m scratching my head trying to figure out why I didn’t play this years ago.

Interesting that a game like that came out 11 years ago. Looking at some of the gameplay footage and the fights in the game regarding the bosses, it looks pretty good.

I really really hate this mentality that old games play bad so they need remakes, it is so stupid to me, old games dont play bad just because they dont have the same standardize controls every new game has.
People asking for remakes just because they are not willing to go outside this boring ass template of gameplay were never interested in the original games to begin with most likely.
Not every game has to play exactly the same, and games dont play better just because they are newer

It didn't get a lot of fanfare when it was new, and I remember wondering why it wasn't just DLC for DR2. I think it was released at full price, too, which seemed like a ripoff. It's pretty good, though, despite literally just being Dead Rising 2 with an extra environment and a different protagonist.

There's also DR2 Case Zero and Case West, if you have an Xbox 360 or anything newer. They never got ported to other systems, though.

Playing the Crackpet show... I like that you can play one floor at a time and the runs are short... But the builds never get as crazy and ridiculous like your conventional roguelikes.

It's ok for 15$, but nothing amazing.

DR2 OTR has some good additions but a lot of stupid changes. It makes Frank into an annoying quippy faggot who makes unfunny comments on almost everything. The checkpoint saves after every loading screen are soulless casual shit. The way cutscenes are rewritten to try to accommodate Frank and the different story without reanimating them is blatantly lazy and contrived.

Case Zero is solid, it feels like a proper Dead Rising experience despite the smaller map and shorter time limit. You can play it a few times before getting bored.
I don't know if it emulates well yet, but there's a debug build out there and you can use the debug menus to give yourself max stats and all the unlockable moves from DR2, so you can fuck around without being constrained to level 5 stats.

Case West is disappointing, its map is kinda shitty and it's too short and linear for you to mess around much. The impact hammer weapon is fun and the segway vehicle is fun, though there's nowhere to easily drive it. It's worth playing through once but that's about it.

that depends how you define "bad". there are some games who could use some polishing even when they came out and/or they are a mess on a technical level. doesn't mean they need a "remake". just make climbing down ladders in gothic less retarded.

it's not even limited to old games, fucking mass effect 3 had FOUR fucking actions assigned to a single button (use, cover, vault, spring).

Is there any salts regarding elden ring winning?
journos still jerking themselves raw over the "awards that really matter", anyone else doesn't take the TGAs serious anyway, so it doesn't really matter. the genshin vs sonic fanbase was a bigger saltmine anyway.

Advance Wars for the Game Boy Advance is probably the first game that I’ve never played growing up that I really want to play now. I saw some longplay archive game footage of it, and it looks nice.

So I have a Japanese Switch account and the demo for the Fist of the North Star boxing game is up. I can see it being really fun but possibly very tough. It's a kind of rhythm game where you have to shake or move the Joycons. I was starting to get the hang of it by the time the demo was over, but once it gets fast, I don't know if I'll keep up.....

That actually sounds a bit like the arcade game, it was really fun and I can see it working on the Switch.

The arcade game looks like this:

The pads would pop out and you would have to hit them, at its core it's... There's a reason why it's a Konami game called Punchmania, it's a punchy rhythm game with anime.

I've actually seen that before and never tried it, because I had no idea how to play it.
