Are videogames for children?

I want to try the new Squad update but I'm too busy and burnt out and don't feel like talking to people.

That's a game series i feel i really did miss out on. Would've loved it when i was still giving a fuck about anything online co-op. So, uh, around the Dreamcast era.

EDF may be the sole vidya I legitimately give a crap about online play these days, both on Switch and PC, as even playing with randoms still bring a good experience. But I argue to say the mainline games hold up pretty well for solo play too and are quite challenging on higher difficulties.

I never understood why people are so averse to role playing games. Is it like a low iq thing where retarded people cannot understand the concept of time?
It's either "too slow" for them or they see the game as is, with the characters standing in place waiting for their turn. They seem to lack the required abstract thinking to imagine a logical encounter out of a turn-based presentation (time being stopped in the middle of a battle) and instead interpret the visuals in a literal sense. And some people simply don't understand that turn-based can be a design choice and not a technical restriction, if a game is turn-based when tabletop there's no reason it cannot be in video game format.

The main problem however is that some are entitled to believe they can play every game under the sun and if they don't like, then that the product should change to suit them.

I recently had a spurt of inspiration for a game idea. After putting pen to paper, because I am not an idea guy, I promise, I found that all the OpenGL frameworks I wanted to use were pozzed. This put a damper on my inspiration.

Are there any game frameworks out there that are low-level and not currently maintained by faggots? I don't want to slurp the CoC.
What have you already looked at? Something like Magnum doesn't look pozzed at first blush, and none of those faggots that insist on putting their CoC(k)s in everything can actually force you to abide.

It being too slow is ridiculous when there are action games that just as well have damage sponge enemies that take forever to kill and far higher enemy count in general.

Also the joke of "oh turn based is so ridiculous, they are just waiting for one another" is one of the most faggot braindead observations ever. Nevermind the fact that turn based games are more accessible since people can play them in their own pace.

Good points actually. I guess it's the immediacy their ADHD brains need.

i just got here, i dont get the poll, is "yes" in the sense "yes, its just for kids, grown ups shouldnt play them" or just "yes, kids can/should play video games?".I assume its the first context, but just want to be sure.
btw, i love that that video about grandpa rolling Quake and Doom(i tink its those 2 FPS-es,could be Halo).

What annoys me is how people say that there FF16 combat is "modernised" because it's action based.
Nigger, that style of combat is 20 years old. It's not new and revolutionary.
I'd argue there's been more experimentation with turn based combat, given all the different iterations in different games

The biggest addition to action combat in 20 years is rolling in Dark Souls.

Either they mean It's modernised because those people are stuck mentally in 2004, or it's the same gray sludge design all modern games have, or the inclusion of sex and racism despite not actually contributing to the story.

Seconded. Also, I recall that the developers donated to some troon surgery clinic (or something similar) around the time when the original Ion Fury was released. So it's a hard pass from me.

With the release of Counter-Strike 2 it's fascinating to see the fanbase take it rather decently that Valve just straight up purged the original CS:GO. With no indication of when Community Servers (and mods) will be back up I wonder how long players will be okay without popular diversions like surfing to be in the game again.

As a total casual player who just used to jump back into CS every now and then I'm so happy that they finally got rid of that stupid circular buy screen that was clearly made for when Valve somehow thought Counter-Strike would succeed with console gamers. I know they actually updated that a few months before CS2's release but man why did it take them so long to fix that? I doubt I'll ever play CS religiously but I gotta say it's the only MP game that still manages to appeal to me. I don't have to learn a whole bunch of complicated shit and as long as my KD Ratio is near 1:1 well I feel I'm not dragging my team down. It's also really relieving to me that aiming reflexes haven't totally fallen off a cliff. I still can't be an effective sniper in CS (never was) but I can get headshots with the AK-47 and AUG.

AUTISM NITPICKING: Man it has always annoyed the hell out of me when games don't use the real names of weapons, it just looks stupid to me to see a Glock be named anything else besides a Glock. From my understanding games like Call of Duty and Battlefield give weapons fictional names because otherwise they have to pay some sort of licensing fees to the actual gun designers. From my memory Counter-Strike did this too at one point with the Desert Eagle being renamed the Night Hawk. I don't know when Valve changed the names back but it made me happy that they did. It confirms to me that someone at Valve is like me and they were annoyed by fake names as well.

The poll is just a joke, don't take it seriously.

Actually Battlefield gave weapons their actual names/government designations like 90% of the time.

Renaming generally bugs me. I get why some do it but some of the times it's unnecessary. AFAIK M16 and M4 is just a government designation.

Some players made comparisons of CS2 flat-out replacing CSGO, to Overwatch 2 doing the same with Overwatch 1, but that's not a fair comparison, or is it?

So, I was doing nothing but looking at PC long gameplay footage online, and this game was unintentionally funny to me:

The fact that a game like this not only looks fun to play but also managed to get negative reviews in the process after the first few days of its release is just proof that I have to get back into PC gaming and actually play it.

Again, I just couldn’t stop laughing even though the game looks fun to play.

Overwatch 2 - Completely changed the core gameplay. Fans of the OG want the Overwatch they played when it first came out. And Blizzard seems currently defiant in ever bringing that back.

Counter-Strike 2 - Currently stripped of all the mod content and dedicated servers. Which should be back in the immediate future.

The thing about CS is that it's CS. Valve figured out they had the first real phenomenon Online FPS and they were best off not screwing it up. To this day there's still middle aged men playing CS 1.6 because CSGO/2 isn't the exact same game they were playing in high school although I think it's pretty much 95% the same damn thing.

I've always been a scrub the game. Lifetime I doubt I've cracked even 100 hours into CS. But damn it still is satisfying as all hell to pull off two kills in a round. It sucks to have to sit around waiting for the next round, sucks even harder to go a full match and just get trounced. But the dopamine rush is second to none, sometimes you just win in a 1v1 firefight, othertimes you totally outplay your opponent.

Chances are I'll uninstall again after one devasting hour of CS where a squeaky voiced 14 year old tells me he fucked my mother and I should kill myself. But if I'm alive in 5 years I'll hop back onto CS again and just have dumb fun. It's just a good game, simple enough to understand in 10 minutes, doesn't feel like work to understand the meta.

And I know people hate Valve for putting in cosmetic gambling, I could care less. What type of retard cares about painting weapons?

Realms Deep was today and the Ion Fury expansion finally got a release date and it's Monday and I am soy facing so fucking hard my jaw is about to dislocate

This looks great. I am in the process of replaying Ion Fury right now.

I'm not plugged in to any gaming discussions or gaming communities (gag) but I don't see anyone talking about Ion Fury, even with all the zoomers pretending they like boomer shooters.

It's a great game even though it has a few niggles, like the first few levels being too long and the cryptic 4-D secrets not being worth the effort. Imagine doing precision platforming in what looks like an out of bounds area just to get a single radar power up.

This made a huge stir when it came out. From the few people who actually played it and gave it an honest shot, the consensus was that it's a very boring, janky isometric shooter. I haven't played it. The reviews and longplays I saw back in the day made it look like a snooze fest.
