I don't know what system to buy, Should I get a switch, a ps4, or a 3ds. Switch for be for more modern games. PS4 has uncharted remastered, Yakuza 0 and 2. 3DS has some rpgs I'd like to play on the go (Xenoblade, DQVII, Pokemon Gold remakes, Chrono Trigger) and Zelda (OOT and MM remakes).
get a ps4. has some nice exclusives

But Switch is also more future-proof, guessing PS4 (despite having Uncharted, HZD, Bloodborne, Grav Rush 2, etc) will be out the door by 2020 in favor of PS5

It is worth remembering that the ps5 will have backwards compatibility with the ps4, so honestly unless the ps5 is 599.99 USD meme price or the ps4 becomes bare minimum 200 USD I wouldn't bother buying a ps4 at all until we see if the backward compatibility is somehow bad.

Well I wasn't planning on getting Super Mario Maker 2 but that was a pretty good Direct. They're adding a story campaign, which will hopefully give me some inspiration for my own levels; Plus they're including online co-op, so now I can tortuously drag my friends through my stages to gauge their reaction speed in real-time. They improved so much that I feel bad for those that bought the first Mario Maker but you could say that about most of the Switch ports of WiiU titles: it's the first game, but much more improved.

Any game that uses some kind of QTE system always lets you attack to some base degree, and the timing is always for bonuses. Like, Shadow Hearts did it best:

The timing thing is simple and the same every time, so you can get good at it. The whole WarioWare thing YIIK uses looks stressful and a pain in the ass. It's like socialism: nice idea in theory, but a clusterfuck in practice because nobody wants to do all that work with no incentives other than "you can keep going".
Thanks for mentioning Shadow Hearts B!

The Danish operator for Six Siege got revealed. The devs said she was 'super cute'.

Only issue is, she's not a frømand. She's from the hunter corp according to lore, so for a game based around military glorification, they can't even get that one fucking thing right. I can't wait to see her name being unapologetically Swedish either. It wasn't till the reveal they changed it from Nökk to Nøkk either.

Octopath Traveler will be available on steam it seem. I've never play it or even watch the gameplay of it but I've heard this is one of the highly acclaim title on the switch so I'll be looking forward to it. Good to see pc gaming getting some more love.

Switch is definitely more practical if you enjoy games like Bing-Bing Wahoo U, or titles that were locked to the Wii U. like Bayonetta 2. Consistent good to great titles, but paying for online is a meme so whatever you can get on PC, do so.

I personally enjoyed Octopath a lot, but that is partly because I read that it took some notable inspiration from tabletop games and tried to make a more "role-playing" focused JRPG which is why path actions became a thing and the characters were more like general templates for characters/objectives than very fleshed out characters, which is a very hit or miss thing obviously but I personally respect that idea and hope they expand on that idea in the future. I thought path actions were cool and made npc interaction kind of neat as I usually avoid npcs without side quests like the plague, the characters needed some more interaction for the average person who doesn't want to flatly make stuff up like I did, but their individual stories range from pretty alright personal stories (H'annit and Olberic) to just boring w/e trash (Tressa and Ophelia despite the fairly strong feels opening).

Combat is pretty great in my opinion, though once you know everything the vast majority of the game can't keep up and bosses get looped to death because every time you break later bosses they try to shuffle weaknesses around, but their break shield is too small for that point in the game so a couple of lucky guesses and the bosses just fall over through looping them and abusing a couple of debuffs. The true final boss is pretty nasty if you try to wing it and the secret bosses also can be nasty, but beyond that and the start of the game Octopath is pretty easy once you understand the combat system. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed it a lot more than Bravely Default personally.

And even that is the wrong spelling... Thats the norweigan "bokmål" instead of actually dansih......

I was really interested in Octopath on PC, but launching for $84 is incredibly steep. Definitely going to get it at some point in the future though.

I miss the days when games were just games and not a front to put spyware and other garbage in our homes. I’m okay with soulless megacorps being out to drain my wallet, that’s their nature and I can always choose not to buy their product, but not collecting data from me they don’t need to sell their game.

Honestly I think they need to hold off putting out new ops and do another operation health, with all the bugs and glitches it seems like the game is falling apart at the seams.

Yeah its conversion to my playtime pretend currency, with an extra $5 thrown on for some reason.

But Switch is also more future-proof

Sure, if you want to look forward to a future of paying out your ass for mediocre indie games that sony will give you for free via ps+ and a confounding sense of buyers remorse for spending $300 on a tablet with only 2 or 3 good exclusive games while becoming more and more jealous of your friends that bought a ps4 and the cornucopia of gud games that are available to them.

Get a ps4, or even better, save up and get a ps5.
