Are videogames for children?

I'm sure the complaints about PS+ games gets old, but I'm getting really tired of the free game offering being games that most people who actually play games already own. For the last few months it's like they're going through my game catalog and choosing games from there.

There's a new Commander Keen and it's a fucking pay to win mobile game. Tom Hall weeps.

I found this video a while ago, it goes through the history of vidya in hilarious pixelated detail. It's god tier.

Is it just me or does it often feel like many of the hardcore anti-MTX/anti-DRM/anti-Epic redditors (such as the fans of fucks like Angry Joe, ReviewTechUSA, Jim Sterling, YongYea, etc) just hate these things because their favorite Youtubers and subreddits told them these things are bad rather than because they actually took the time to actually read about how these things hurt games (i.e. the Late Stage Capitalism niggers who still boycott DMC5 for its MTXs even after anti-MTX activists like AJ, Sterling, YongYea, etc proved that the MTXs don’t affect the in-game economy)

Like look, I can respect the belief in consumer advocacy and won’t deny that the DLC models of games like BLOPS4 or the way Epic acquires its exclusives are cancerous, but I think these things because I researched them on my own time, not because some fat youtuber in front of a blue yeti told me to say these things

I saw this being thrown around a couple of websites. Super Mario Brothers "royale" here. Compete with tons of players at the same time to see who can stay alive and complete levels.
Nothing super special but an interesting little toy.

Is this where the cool kids hangout?

OT - None of the games in the OP poll are ones that interest me, but I remember playing Zork, so my tastes might be... unconventional.

Has anyone played the new Leisure Suit Larry? How is it?

(Also, why is LSL the only Sierra series that still gets games?)

Play Dark Souls then, it is inspired by sadistic fuckery in Fighting Fantasy gamebooks, which were, at the time, Zork for computer-deprived poorfags.

edit: this post prompted me to check ebay and there was Spellbreaker on sale with an ENCHANTER'S GUILD PIN.
MY DESTINY IS FULFILLED

That's fun until someone gets a star and just wipes out half of the players due to most people overlapping one another

Neat concept but janky as fuck

just like that i’ve basically solidified my steam/nintnedo gaming status for gen 9.

I was willing to give Scarlett a chance, but it looks like MS is following Sony to the gallows

I’m not mad phil, i’m disappointed

That just seems like another article designed to equate free speech with shitheads screaming "NIGGERNIGGERNIGGER" into voice chat.

I don't have a lot of faith in Scarlett, anyhow. Microsoft's been on a giant cloud computing push throughout the entire company, and Scarlett's gonna implement it wholesale. Hope you like all your games being SaaS. That, along with bumbling corporate articles trying to appeal to current year cucks just reaffirms how they just don't know what they're doing. The Xbox 360 was wildly successful, but that's because Sony completely shit the bed with the launch of the PS3. They even managed to hang onto a lot of goodwill in the face of countless 360s red ringing, just to throw all that out with the five-year catastrophe that was the Kinect. Forcing a Kinect on all your Xbox One buyers, and now forcing cloud computing BS on all your Scarlett buyers.

Meanwhile, the Nintendo tablet that takes little cartridges and has graphics on par with the 360 is dominating the console space. It's almost as if people buy fun things to have fun times and don't want bizarre overengineered nonsense in the way. And I don't think anyone's going to overlook it because you're standing up to bullying or whatever the fuck. Resetera posters aren't actually your customers, m8. If they liked video games, they'd spend their time playing them instead of bitching online.

I think I never had any faith in Microsoft game console since its inception. It's all about making generic dude bro shooters from the start and they want to fix the toxicity? Trash talking in FPS is natural thing. They are so clueless about gaming culture, no wonder they failed in Japan.

Something I have noticed about the newer Mortal Kombat games, aside from the dumb costume choices for MK 11 is the new tradition of including horror characters as DLC guest characters in every installment.

MK9 had Freddy Kruger while MKX had Jason Voorhees, Leatherface, Alien, and Predator, and the newest MK game has Spawn.

The issue is that with the Disney buyout of FOX, we probably won't be seeing any return appearances of Alien, Predator, or other FOX-owned franchises like Terminator since Disney is notoriously stingy with licensing their IP's.

However, I do have an idea for guest fighters as DLC in the next Mortal Kombat game. Maybe not as main headliners, but they could be included as part of a DLC with other Warner Brothers-owned horror characters.

I'd include Count Von Tokentakker and Evil Marie from the old 90's light gun game CarnEvil as guest fighters.

Yeah, it's obscure as fuck but it is horror-related and more importantly, CarnEvil is a Midway franchise that is now owned by Warner Brothers so there's not an issue with licensing costs or other legal hurdles.

Apparently, the same deal that allowed WB to acquire the Mortal Kombat IP also included the rights to CarnEvil and a few other Midway games from back in the 90's.

I know it will never happen, but there's nothing keeping it from happening other than the age and obscurity of CarnEvil.

On that note, I miss light gun games. Shame that Time Crisis 5 still doesn't have a console port, so it might as well be Japan-exclusive.

It's a wonder Sims 2 works at all, based off what modders have dug up.

There's a lot you have to do to safe-proof Sims 2, like replacing neighborhoods with their 'clean' versions, installing hundreds of fix / glitch mods, and installing small mods to improve lag. I can't fathom playing it vanilla: you won't be able to play the game long before something gets corrupted and you have to do a clean re-install. Fuck the Ottomas family btw.

Regardless, I still prefer 2 over 4. The graphics aged quite a bit, sure, but Sims 2 had a unique and strange charm that should've defined the later games. I like Sims 4 in some aspects: namely the graphics and the improvements made on its Build Mode (exempting a few things like 'swatches', but there's mods for that), but it doesn't have the heart Sims 2 had. It feels hollow.

Sorry for sperging out, i'm fairly passionate about the Sims.
