Pretty sure he's been known about for a while; before Class of '09 he did a bunch of (pretty funny) comedy dubs of anime and other assorted projects which never got that popular. My favorite thing he's ever done though was on his radio show, where he had this shitty online voice actor and a guy pretending to be this VA compete to see Who is the Real Mylez Dimitrovsky? in true Liquid Chris fashion. Spoilers: The whole program was actually a setup! At the very end, he has the friend of an underage girl whom Mylez sent dick pics to call in to grill him live on air. It's a shame he doesn't do these frequently anymore, he had a good mix of movie-industry guests and online autism on his show.

In line with my avatar change for October, I decided to pick up Higurashi and have been slowly making my way through it (using 07th Mod patch because the only man who can get me to read VN text in the middle of the screen is Nasu). I just finished part 3 and jfc this shit is bananas.

Not to powerlevel too hard but I also grew up as a transplant in a pretty small town and a lot of the slice of life parts feel very... nostalgic. It really captures the feeling of a small-town (low ambitions, everyone knows each other, people say they'll move away but never do, dislike of outsiders who are 'passing through', etc.). I sometimes wonder if urbanites who consume media like this catch on to the comfiness of the setting or if it's just part of the horror for them.

It's been a while since I read Higurashi and even longer since I watched the anime but Hinamizawa can honestly be both a comfy small town and an eerie small town at the same time. The story certainly does convey both sides throughout the story with the SOL segments in the first half of the Question Arcs and the horror segments in the second half of the Question Arcs.

Also crosspoosting from the Anime thread, It's Miki Itou's birthday today! She's mainly known for Eva/Takano and Taiga. They really couldn't sound any different from eachother. Also her role as Eva in Umineko is fantastic and probably one of the best VAs in the VN.

Probably will try to tie it into the retarded Science Adventure extended universe. I have no idea how the MCU managed to make such a brainrot to VN makers that nothing can be its own thing anymore.

After reading Michiru's route and only her route she's taken the crown for best girl probably for the rest of the VN but Sachi and Makina are still the funniest two in the VN for sure.
 
Spent a few hours reading Nie No Hakoniwa - Dollhouse of Offerings, I'm very iffy about it. There's fantastic setup in political and occult, but having the MC be literal super ninja gigachad really ruins any sense of dread. It seemingly having no choices also removes fear of doing anything wrong and when I thought that shit finally gets real, I get thrown into 2 hours of the protagonist fucking a barely legal and thinking of whether he wants to engage with the actual plot. Kind of a shame since you can do some fantastic horror mystery from including branching paths.

The three make the retard trifecta that makes the common route so hilarious. Sadly the other two heroines are very vanilla.

You need a straight woman (Yumiko) and somebody who's the wrangler (Amane) or else things will just devolve into nonsense. Even then Yumiko's sillier moments are adorable so far and Amane has so much influence on Makina that you could argue she's a retard too.

Technically Yuuji does both (and was hired to do that). Sometimes Yumiko and Amane manage to work well with the gags but they aren't interesting by themselves.

Grisaia should have done the trick where the common route gets more scenes as you complete routes. Since otherwise you start forgetting what every character was up to.

Are there any VNs that increase the length of the common route as you complete routes? It seems like a neat concept, though most people (me included) usually save at choices so there's a good chance that they'll just miss the added content. I also don't think a lot of people would appreciate Grisaia's already long common route being increased in length for an extra scene or two.

Pretty sure Rewrite does, in general it has a lot of extra things popping every route so it's pretty fun replaying the routes. With Grisaia the opposite should have been, with the common route being sliced in half and the second half appearing progressively as you finish routes. So it all flows better.

I kind of like that once you're locked in to the route, you're exclusively doing the route. I don't think any of the choices to enter the routes, not even the routes themselves would hit as hard if I didn't spend a good amount of time with the characters in non romantic or non serious moments beforehand.

I also have to read Rewrite (and Key VNs) soon. Though I'm mainly going to be doing it for the route R07 did.

What other people said about it being probably something more than just a remake, at least the sprites (what I assume the images in the article are showing) dont seem to be as much of a downgrade as 0
