Not a huge anime head, but I love me some Persona games. As said in a Two Best Friends Play video "The Persona cast, AKA the next big voice actors for the years to come." Persona 3 had Liam O'Brien, Tara Platt, and Vic Mignogna who ig is a dickhead now (I didn't read the scoop.) Persona 4 featured Troy Baker, Johnny Young Bosch, and Laura Bailey, 3 titans. 5 has featured Erica Lindbeck (Futaba), whose voice is everywhere now, and Cherami Leigh (Makoto) who voiced Fem-V in Cyberpunk 2077. Anyways, I absolutely love Persona's voice acting. It is completely genuine with 0 cringe like a lot of anime dubs. Atlus has mastered voice direction, and actually keep strict guidelines for the English VA's, which makes the voicework premium to the ears.
Also love FromSoft's voicework. According to interviews they do a ton of takes, and Miyazaki sits in on the interviews/recordings and has hyper-specific directions. Using theater actors is a wise choice. FromSoft understands less is more.
I think the problem with many American VA's is they go too far. It's an extremely cliquey industry. The established talent are asked to do their iconic voice with little change, typecast and forever doing normalvoice. The newbies go too extreme, and are religated to anime game dubs. And don't even get me started on indie game VA's, thinking of Neon White makes me shudder.
