Honestly, as another kiwi pointed out, I think it's not necessarily a bad thing when creators give their take on the character. It can be interesting to hear how the actors views the characters and how it affects their performances.

Within reason. I mean Corina Boettegr insisting that the annoying little shit she plays in Genshin is nonbinary just because she is, is peak insanity.

Notice how they're all mostly older and veteran voice actors? The current crop of actors (read: under 40) cannot hold a candle to these pros in every sense of the word. Nowadays its all sjw this pronoun that race swap race play blah blah bullshit.

I was reading Wikipedia articles about a show I used to watch as a kid (as one does), Even Stevens on the Disney channel. I found out that earlier this year, Christy Carlson Romano, who starred in Even Stevens and voiced the title character in Kim Possible, got shot in the face with birdshot. Funny you mention that. Another Genshin VA, Allegra Clark (Beidou), replied to a Tweet Jennifer Hale made about a SAG meeting that just happened. Clark flat out admits that the strike has probably done more harm than good at this point.
