VTuber Pikamee retires from streaming after trans pushback over Hogwarts Legacy

So in other words, anime, game, and manga are more or less how people in Japan wish reality was, whereas real life there is more conformist and workaholic?
Pretty much. Nipponese unironically crave freedom. Notice some of their most popular works. Its always someone who finds a way to build themselves up or bend over the system. As reality is a little too happy with keeping them down, shackled to their stations. And if they were to even deviate, there goes their living. Its not a secret that stress is part of the reason why they party extra hard. Because they know that they have yet another shitty day waiting for them. Neetdom has alot to do with this reality.

There is great irony in a place known for its creative works but the people within could not really express themselves lest they lose their standing.

When I say freedom, I don't mean discharging a gun in air and being able to jack off in public. Just a little more slack for their personal lives just within their sensibilities as what a Nipponese views as freedom is vastly different from how a Burger views freedom.

“The nail that sticks out gets hammered down” as they say. And yes, they want more free time. Free from work and after work "drinking" with the
boss. My guess is that older generations are stubborn and the moment shit goes south they are gonna notice. The new generation is gonna carry the
burden. The Reiwa Era seems shittier the more i look into it.

No wonder the suicide rate there can be rather high.

And there's serious issues with overwork over there too.

The Reiwa Era seems shittier the more i look into it.
Possible rising tide of identity politics, the coof, everyone is expected to mask up, an aging population, that sexless thing...

(sure looks that way)

The one thing they got right was keeping Diversity out of their borders as they did not have to deal with the rape happy hordes like 2015-Present Europe or their own summer of love.

What they have is a working system with noticeable flaws that threatens to end them unless they update it. Which ties right back to the issue faced by the US during Occupy Wallstreet. You work hard but that isn't enough to give you financial freedom like the Boomers did back in their adulthood. That is also the reality in their own Nipponese equivalent.

No wonder the suicide rate there can be rather high.

Undoubtedly. Can you really fault the kids from NEETing up at this point? If reality is that harsh, its no wonder why some are more than happy to spend most of their lives locked up like Chris. At the very least though, the creative works these people generate is still something amazing.

With that in mind, it would explain the various little Japan towns showing up in the US and some Nips saw the writing on the wall and decided that to try their luck outside Japan. With varying success.

And there's serious issues with overwork over there too.
Seeing some random japanese man/woman passed out on the side of the sidewalk, clutching a briefcase says it all doesn't it? Some even sleep on
couches in their workplace. Karoshi is a word after all.
Hikikomori might be the better term.
As for japanese moving to the US, good for them. Hopefully they at the very least have a piece of mind there.

Came here to see if this had been posted realdy. GG Gundam.

Indeed a better journalist than people who work at Kotaku.

Who wants an avatar?

So enter the V-tuber. A succession from regular Camwhores and eventually Le Quirky Female game streamers, this would end up enrapturing men as they see the V tuber as a safe bet in comparison to real women. Not only this girl is a happy distraction, this fulfills man's intrinsic need for a feminine presence. It also helps that a V tuber feels like a cartoon character you can interact with. As the sentiment against the modern female increases, so does porn and Vtuber revenue. Because if that wasn't the case and there are more couples than singles, V-Tubers would have remained a fun little niche thing.
I don't disagree with you about chuubas being a distraction and an alternative to modern women, however I think you might be discounting one important thing that I believe fully was the main surge of their popularity. In 2020 the world shut down and almost every major power had some form of shelter in place enacted. Now take all those young men in those countries with nothing going on for them (they either believe that the world is ending from a super bug or believe that their government is forever altering their world), nothing to do, and give them free money. These men who would've been either working or at school now have all the time in the world to watch 3 hour minecraft streams of a flawless cartoon woman who laughs, sings, smiles and is silly. Without the shut down I don't believe that we would even be talking because vtubers would still be a highly niche hobby and things like Rushia, even though she got shit canned over a year ago and hasn't made any content since, still being the highest superchat earner ever would never happen.

Even though I've fallen down the chuuba hole and am a true Phase Phag I worry that vtubers' popularity is a symptom of something greater wrong with our world and I don't mean "late night with Jimmy Kimmel sucks ass so I'm gonna watch late night with Pippa". Pippa herself has two crazy men that follow her around and declared her their enemy which is crazy that she had two of them before she hit 100k subs. If the world made sense I wonder if they'd been able to get the help or yeeting they needed. But I guess if the world made sense we wouldn't have so many women selling pictures of their butthole on the internet nor would we have so many women dress up in anime to get the attention of all the other men disgusted with the butthole whores.

Fun fact, Pippa has made her presence known in Jersh's MATI chat before, specifically during the first time he ever had to talk about her after she made fun of Ralph getting beat up in Portugal last year. YouTube VOD with the interactive chat replay is obviously long gone at this point, but I'm 99% certain that I checked when it happened and it was indeed really her.

Considering how she followed Metokur, its no surprise. As anyone following Mr. Minotaur from the start would have seen him at the very least during Gamergate, IBS, his various videos, TRR, lesser sagas until we eventually reach the end when he officially retired. And Jim interacted with a good chunk of net including our own dear Feeder. So she was bound to run into this place one way or another. I'd even go so far and wager that she has lurked before.

Every time I see responses from the Pro-Trans crowd worrying about backlash from the Pikamee debacle, my mind immediately goes back to what Norm once said:
The perfect example of history rhyming. Also at the very least Isis is straightforward in wanting you to convert to Islam or die. Troons in the other hand won't admit they're trying to turn you into a malformed abomination like they are. Ergo Muzzies > Troons

Here's the clip in question. She can be seen in chat at roughly 6 seconds into the clip. This was at the 1:21:30 mark of the full stream which I'll also archive below in case anyone wants to check for themselves. It's also just a fun trip down memory lane.

The clip here would be at 21:30 into part 2 below.

This is very likely incomplete; it's just what quickly came to mind.
  • Pippa directly talked about the site and called for a collab with him on a stream about CWC from August 2021 back when she was still a very, very small streamer with Tenma, one of her genmates (coworkers), present. Null is scared once he sees the clip.

Pippa responds back very soon after, demonstrating a pretty good understanding of him (:story:).

  • From a viewer-submitted unban appeal stream in September 2022.

  • From a mid-late 2022 Roblox stream, someone skinwalked him.

  • Someone impersonates him in superchats earlier this year.

  • And of course, indirectly last month with his site's anniversary.

Saw this video on Twitter.

I avoid vtubers like the plague so no idea who this is (someone ITT may enlighten me), but apparently she previously talked about "Twitter freaks" and a lot of trannies coped by saying she meant general internet addicts. And now she explicitly says she means enbies and trannies.

(As a side note, this girl's schtick is disgusting. She talks like a goddamn 5 year old. I shudder to think what sort of audience she's cultivated)

things seem to have slown down to a halt...

Perhaps, but I still think there's gonna be some happenings that pop up from this. Especially around the time of Pikamee doing her final stream. It'll really set in for a lot of people then. I'd also like to point out once again the kinds of people that you can get within these fan groups. I was skimming through a few streams Pippa did with other vtubers because I wanted to see if I could find other funny conversations and situations like in the compilation earlier. I then reached a stream she did with someone named Kirsche and as I was skimming through I found something truly special:

TLDW: A user in Kirsches Discord channel made a Pippa ear emote and wrote a crazy post fantasizing about ripping the ears off her avatar as she screams and Kirsche recorded herself reading that post.

Vtuber fans actually scare me sometimes. I refuse to believe there won't be anything major that happens around the time of the final stream or shortly after when there's people like this in their audiences. Maybe I'm just being optimistic though.
