The impression I get with V-tubers is that they're just playing a character, and that most people that watch v-tubers know this as well. I mean, no one seriously thinks that whoever is behind Pipkin Pippa really sounds and acts like her in real life, right?
I mean, it'd be fucking hilarious if she did, but still...
"it's all fake" was pathetic bait in the beginning which luckily died down by now.
thing is most vtubers are young, and lot of them are more introverted - they're not method actors or sociopaths (otoh lot of them
are women...) who can keep up a "role" for hours every day of the week/month/year. inevitably some of their own character bleeds through which most people probably wouldn't ever see otherwise.
I'd consider this also a factor which makes them so attractive since it simply "feels" less fake than your average e-thot that collects simp-bux via cleavage, if you don't have the personality to keep people entertained even the cute animu avatar won't help you - something a lot of vapid bitches and troons figured out the hard way when no one was interested in their dumb takes and shit personality. heck you can see the effect right now where people go "I fucking hate streamers, I never thought I'd laugh at a pink rabbit talking mad shit" (or back when she was shitting on the gunt, which was even more hilarious).
another thing to remember is that there's still a human behind that avatar, and the interaction isn't one way. it's inevitable they get more comfortable as time goes on and of course adjust to their audience (and the audience to them), that's where the whole parasocial aspect comes in. there will always be people going down the rabbit hole too hard, but most are well aware what you (don't) see is what you get.
This is part of bullying?? I read a biography of the daughter of a Yakuza boss. She was bullied in school and almost got raped by her bullies. I always found this really weird but now I understand that is common there. Omg.
the dark side of groupism. arguably there's an important social/environmental aspect to it, the main problem however is that it currently completely fails to regulate itself for some reason - on it's own the same people who go over the line would be brought back even harder from someone above till there's an established baseline for it, somehow that doesn't happen; what I mean is the same people who do outright heinous shit would get fucked up for tarnishing the name of the group/school/company/whatever, acting on their own, or simply fucking too much with fellow students or valuable workers etc.
Well see my situation isn't that dire, it's more of a whack a mole kind of deal. Small patches of it come up after it's been sufficiently humid and every Saturday when I clean I get rid of it. So it's more annoying than dangerous.
might be inside the wall now, but even without it if you don't change the cause which lets it grow in the first place nothing will change. usually it's a heating/isolation issue where condensation and warmth will provide perfect environment. dirt and dust can also be a factor, but since you wipe it often that shouldn't be the issue (unless that's the only spot you wipe...)
EDIT:
I'm pretty sure a lot of these vtubers that have kinda higher-ish voices that aren't blatantly fake uwu shit are a bit like richard horvitz. They just already got a kinda weird/unique high voice, and just lean into it harder in different inflections, though probably not to the point like where they need gallons of water on hand like horvitz considering they do several hours of vidya streaming.
some go into it harder where it affects their health, then they either change or slowly adjust to more bearable voice (
compare suisei's debut to her voice now). they can also add some effect with a voice changer.
outside of that lot of girls have a higher voice, and speaking a bit higher on top of that isn't that hard.
